      According to what I read, our spirit is often asleep inside us, and when it hears the names of the gurus being chanted, the spirit WAKES UP.

    I love watching your beautifully genuine reaction. When this album came out, I was 13. My family physically wore out the vinyl. This album was so different, refreshingly personal and emotional work. It got me through the challenges of teenage and young adult years. In 1974, I was on a high school class trip to Toronto. It included a visit to a local Hindu place of residence (like a convent or monastery). When we arrived, we were told that if we had arrived a few hours earlier , we would have seen George. I was glad to be there - knowing that some of his energy remained. I have so much respect for his work and am glad to see that the world was able to experience his music once he began his solo career.

    Great, emotional reaction. This song really stirs something within us. Don’t think anyone else pointed it out but George Harrison was one of the Beatles(you know, the most famous band in history). He became interested in the Hindu religion around 1965 or 1966 and it became a big part of his life. He has many great songs and his All Things Must Pass album (superb, incidentally) is considered by most critics to be the best post-Beatles solo album. I am a huge George Harrison fan and based on your reaction, I think you’d like the ATMP album (Disks 1 and 2) and a favorite song of mine from his Living in the Material World album - “Who Can See It.” It’s really I beautiful. Of course, I have lots of recommendations but I’ll limit it for now.

    Lovely pure reaction! So happy to watch your video! George Harrison was a member of the worlds greatest and most famous band...THE BEATLES. If you loved this song you will probably love lots of Beatles songs, especially the ballads i guess. God bless you man!

  • @n.ayisha
    @n.ayisha Год назад +7

    i always think of this song as 'the Gospel heard around the world', and your reaction perfectly encapsulates what is meant by that. this song always reminds me of someone setting off on a journey in search of a closer understanding of (and relationship to) God. he looks around, sees others traveling that same path, and he asks what God is like to them. then, they start traveling together, meeting others who may be calling it by different name... but they are ultimately longing for the same closeness, to the same God, in the same sky. the familiar (to his background) "Hallelujah" becomes "Hare Krishna". and it goes on to eventually embrace figures that would be obscure even to people brought up in those traditions (like your comment about some younger folks probably not even knowing who they were). at least, that's how it always sounds to me.
    also... i was especially taken by your reaction, because i think that yours is the first reaction to this song i've seen that gets the part where he steps out of his Judeo-Christian heritage, into another tradition of ideas about who/what God is. not gonna lie, it's disappointing to see people listening to this song, and scratching their heads in confusion about what's being said once it moves past just "hallelujah". i grew up going to a black church in the middle of Brooklyn, NY... and even i know what is meant when someone mentions "Krishna", so they have no excuse.

    Thank you, Sir. I really enjoyed your reaction. You've raised a very valid point. There should not be a middleman between you and whatever G-d you believe in. The trouble starts when we stop listening to G-d and begin to listen to a person, obey and do whatever he/she tells us to do. The relation between you and G-d is too personal, too intimate to allow a third party to interject. Cause it might just as well be the Devil whispering into your ear. Thank you, Big Beliya, and G-d Bless (whichever G-d you believe in)!

    ¡Saludos desde Caracas city, Venezuela! [yo tampoco soy religioso; pero... después de las muertes de mi papá (2019); de mi mamá (2021) y mi único hermano, menor (07 de febrero de 2023), yo estoy intentando encontrar a Dios, porque, mi casa (que de por sí es pequeña) ahora yo la siento mucho más grande... se siente aún mucho más la soledad]. Hay canciones mágicas que, cuando tú las oyes por primera vez, algo tiene esa canción en particular, que tú, de inmediato, sientes una conección con ese ente divino que llamamos Dios... A mí me ha pasado esto muy pocas veces: 1.- *Mecano* (banda musical de música pop) con la canción titulada: *_«J. C.»_* (una canción que habla del Jesucristo de a pie, no el Jesús histórico clavado en la cruz... sino más bien ese Jesucristo que tú tienes que aprender a ver en la cara del prójimo cada día); 2.- *Jonathan y Sarah Jerez,* con la canción: *_«El Dios que adoramos»_* (la primera vez que escuché esta canción me hizo llorar de alegría... yo lloraba y yo no sabía por qué estaba llorando), y 3.- Esta canción de *George Harrison,* *_«My Sweet Lord»_* ... son canciones que de manera intrínseca, tienen una energía espiritual innegable... ¡Tienen un "no sé qué"!, que no lo puedes definir con palabras.-

    This song is so ecumenical. It unites so many people. Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Hebrews (Halleluja is Hebrew), Muslims (Jesus is Issa in Islam, a respected Prophet), and invites everyone else to join in. God unties us. Anyone trying to divide us and pit us against each other does the Devil's job. And some people are doing a "damn good job" of it these days. Thanks again!

    In Hinduism; “There is the deep and appealing notion that the universe is but the dream of the god who, after a hundred *Brahma years, dissolves himself into a dreamless sleep. The universe dissolves with him - until, after another Brahma century, he stirs, recomposes himself and begins again to dream the great cosmic dream. Meanwhile, elsewhere, there are an infinite number of other universes, each with its own god dreaming the cosmic dream. These great ideas are tempered by another, perhaps still greater. It is said that men may not be the dreams of the gods, but rather that the gods are the dreams of men.”

    Hare Krshna! God is everywhere. Jesus, Buddha, Muhammad, etc. All lead to Lord Brahma, who I found through Lord Krishna 🙏🏼🕉 I believe once you put away your old dogma and realize God is inside of you and not separated from you, it would be Heaven on earth and peaceful. Namaskaram, my brother.
    Edit: we are atmans a part of the supreme Atman (Brahman) that is what Jesus (I call Him Jeshua) but when we say love thy neighbour as yourself, he was talking about that oneness of God. And the second coming of Christ isn't what Christians think, the second coming is self-realization that you are Christ.

    A little cultural background back in the 60s there was a businessman turned somewhat fake guru who came to America and established a Americanized sect of the cult of Krishna called them Hari Krishna’s And they were known for singing the mantra in major US cities dancing around and robes and giving out flowers in airports and most people found them to be annoying and obnoxious. George Harrison showed us that what they were doing was the same as what we were doing in our church by using the Mahamantra in this song

    I knew he had studied with Ravi Shankar. So as you were commenting in the beginning I was so laughing at you. Just waiting for it to the part when he started singing Hare Krishna. I was saying, just wait.
