[CC] HUA FEI: Most Powerful Consort Loses Everything | Empresses in the Palace 甄嬛传・华妃 Fan Edit MV

  • [ TURN ON CC FOR ENG SUBS ] This is a fan video for the Chinese period drama, Empresses in the Palace (甄嬛传 Legend of Zhen Huan). It follows the story of Hua Fei (华妃 Consort Hua; full name Nian Shilan), who starts out as the most powerful consort in the harem but eventually loses everything. Hua Fei is one of the most memorable harem antagonists. Her story is full of ups and downs...Power, love, jealousy, hatred, resentment, grief, and heartbreak. The role is definitely Jiang Xin's best work to date!
    This fan edit took FOREVER to make. 😭😭😭 I tried 3 different songs to get one that matched well with the video...and combined countless clips to weave together Hua Fei's complicated story...It was difficult portraying things from Hua Fei's point of view since sometimes there's a sense of cognitive dissonance. She seriously believes she hasn't done anything wrong and also thinks she and the Emperor are meant to be despite falling in and out of favor multiple times. Then at the end the illusion shatters; she realizes she hated and blamed the wrong people...the one who harmed her the most and betrayed her most deeply was the person she LOVED....the Emperor.
    SUBTITLES
    Some of the translations are my own and may be paraphrased for context. Other translations are based on existing subtitles from the Magpie Bridge Brigade, some of which I edited and localized for my video. There may be a few errors. Technically Hua Fei's fragrance is an incense type, but I translated it to "parfum" to make it easier to understand.

    After finding out why she wasn't able to have a child, i started to feel bad for her. It may not excuse how she became twisted and cruel, but it sickens me to see how emperors wanted to appear perfect and godly while not wanting to be blamed. Here we see who the real villain of this story is.

    • @empresseseternelles
      @empresseseternelles  Год назад +69

      My theory is that Hua Fei was originally not so cruel. The Emperor says she is not bad at heart, and Hua Fei also mentions that there was a lot of scheming in the manor. It leads me to think that she used to be more innocent, but then she changed to survive. Maybe the miscarriage was the final blow that turned her into a ruthless consort.

    The one and only legendary iconic Consort of consorts in CDramas, Consort Hua! From her styling, walk, chilly voice, charm and elegant cold demeanor is perfection! Jiang Xin’s portrayal of Consort Hua is the Blue Print of the wicked consort in jungles of palaces filled with schemings, raging jealousy and tragic never ending trauma. I hated her for being stubborn and unrepentant but realized how much I loved her after her demise. Suddenly the show took a rapid slow pace and boredom engulfed the drama and it was never the same without her!!! It's because they removed almost all the interesting characters at the same time. They should have kept Cao guiren because she had the potential to go against zhen huan. But no, we are left with the Empress ( who was the only interesting character left ) and the vengeful and cunning side of Zhen huan. Lingrong is okay, but the actress failed to convince me that her character was supposed to be timid but deadly.

      @@jonsart5643 That right there you hit the nail on the head! Compared to the other ladies, there was no competition to Consort Hua, she literally ran that house( inner palace) even the Empress repelled in her presence. She was fast, intelligent and feisty, she could smell out a rat in a bunch of wicked concubines and knew how to chip their wings off before they could fly around like they owned eesh. She was a better match to go against the FL. If I were the director, I would have gotten rid of the Empress and had Consort Huo go head to head with the FL later to empower the conflict of the story instead of making her tragically exit quickly at a time when we the audience needed her the most!
