Woohoo! Thank you Davvy. Thats a lot of great ideas to have fun with. I have a story to share. A couple of years back, I went to rishikesh(india) with my guitar. Made a friend on the way. He showed me around some cool places. Later that night we stayed in a hostel and there was a area to hang out. There were only a couple of other folks hanging out. So i played friend of the devil for my friend and the guy who was sitting in a corner, sporting a tie dye t-shirt(he must have been from america) came and sat nearby to listen to me play. And his smile paid due for all the hours i had spent in learning the dead tunes.
My bassist refuses to play the slow version. I'm not interested in debating which one is better. But, this tutorial is a gateway drug to its appreciation. I learned far more than i thought was remotely possible. There are some tasty nuances that simply escaped me before. Definitely gonna play it now. Cannot sufficiently express my appreciation. Great job, dude.
Hell yeah, dude. You gotta throw some variety in there. There’s a time and place for each version, but the slower one definitely wins in my book. I feel it tells the story much clearer.
Great song selection! Thinking this might be the medium-speed version compared to that clip at 7:14 - no way I could play it that slow sitting here myself! Great arrangement and congrats on the first 1000!. "Keep on Growing!" yeah, that was a nod to a rarely played tune.
Im 43 years old, and i find myself totally interested in the Grateful Dead recent times. Fascinating stuff. Great break down. Im having a go. How do you like that aria pro? What year is it from?
Thank YOU! And absolutely here’s the link to Tennessee’s Dead RUclips. There’s some pretty good vids from last years shows. ruclips.net/channel/UCsTUNXTSki39Mbn2KO0sIlw
Love how you pick and choose specific versions of all these beautiful GD numbers. Honestly I was not stoked to see Friend as the song this week but You know I am here to support ya my man. Much love and you know I want more Bobby Jams: Looks Like Rain. Peas'

Well, I hope since this Friend was a little more complex it wasn’t boring for you, bro. And more Bobby jams are coming. Yes indeed.
@@TobyDavvy I always learn a tasty treat from you big dawg, and of course I warmed up to the song choice because You Are The MAN!
Does anybody know what scales are being played for the soloing? It sounds kinda minory to me, or is it just g major?
Jerry's solo on this Dead Set version is majestic
Bro, like almost heart wrenching.
