I don't think people realize how many kids depend on school for food, not just learning.
They don't care.

That little girl is a hero. When a child is suffering, we teach them to hide it out of shame. This little girl opened her mouth and improved the situation for her whole family and helped be a reminder to those of us well-fed enough to forget.
yeah, its pretty terrifying for people to seek help, they get shamed all the time
Yes thank God she said something. I just don't understand why families don't go to food banks and churches more for help. It's so incredibly heartbreaking that parents allow their kids to go hungry instead of seeking help elsewhere. Is their pride more important than their child's dire situation? I think I would rather my kid be put in an orphanage where they are fed than watch them starve with me😢

How can anyone in America go hungry, when restaurants and grocery stores throw away tons of food a day?
they're supposed to do that. They can get sued if you someone gets sick from the food they're supposed to throw away after the day ends.
I worked in restaurant and one of my managers use to put food left over in to go boxes an wrap it an leave by dumpsters in bags another coworker told an he was fired😤😭so they would make us put all the food left in the garbage disposal, well guess what happens two months later, both freezers an refrigerators go out.then garbage disposal breaks down n dishwashers broke, karma in the building.they closed down 9 months after

Right. So glad she did.... I cried, not gonna lie. Definitely counting my blessings.
I always tell my children to keep your eyes and ears open if you see a child in need, give what you have and let's do something about it. Let's teach all our kids this kind of awareness, because it DOES take so much courage to speak up.
That's the way to raise your Kids! You are such a great Mom!
You know the world is in bad shape when it takes a crying child just to get people to feed others who are in desperate need smh
Facts💯
good possibility many people were in similar circumstances so there was no way they could help instead of being heartless.
@Blob Monster yep. I have heard from a teacher that obtained a coat for a child who never had one even though it was very cold. The chils took it home and came back next day with no coat. When asked the child said "daddy took the coat to sell". Sometimes people who have children should not be called parents because their children dont matter to them.
@ExposingMiLabs it's literally everywhere how can you not know where it's at?
@@jcthegreat80 , most of us donate food and money. How are you helping or do you need help?
I love how the community helps, instead of reporting the poor family to CPS.
I said the same thing. CPS is seeing a huge surge in cases because people report things like this instead of just helping.
It is child neglect. Every neglect should be reported. No child should be cared for by people who can’t provide their basic meals. Imagine what other necessities her mother is depriving her of. 💯
@@hollyholy641 Are you really that stupid? What do you want, for the child to get put into an already VASTLY overwhelmed foster care system where she could potentially be abused or killed or stuffed into a group home where she’ll be just a number with a bunch of troubled kids who might bully her all because her mom can’t afford food? Really? When the community can just, oh, I don’t know, help the family like they did? Taking her away from her loving family is the WORST thing you could do to a child who ISN’T BEING ABUSED. In the 4th-6th grade I remember snitching the dog biscuits when i got home from school because there was nothing else to eat. That was at a time before school lunches.
I feel this little girls pain. Your stomach hurts so bad. When I was little my mom raised 5 kids by herself back in 1960's . We had food only around paydays. She worked two jobs. My mom was wonderful and did the best she could . When we went to school I made a piece of bread with a bit of butter and lots of sugar then stuck it in my brown bag that I would never threw away. I would sit on a bench far away from everyone because I knew I was embarrassed. The sugar would fall all over but I was happy just to have that. Lots of other little girls and boys had lunch pails or ate in the cafeteria. I knew we were different but never thought there was a different way. I would hurt for food. I just wrote a comment how my local district stepped up. We shut down on a Friday and by Sunday night they were doing automated calls, emails and social media posts on where to pick up food Monday. The food services team came together and used up all the food already purchased so it wouldn’t go to waste. They cooked and prepared breakfast and lunch every day. Families could pick it up 9am in individual bags with snacks, drinks, etc. they never missed a day. Holidays they would give out extras the day before. They made it work the remainder of last school year, then extended it thru summer. Then they changed it up for the hybrid model and give full distance learners a weeks worth of meals, snacks, fruit, drinks every wed. The in person learners go 2 days, so their 2nd day they get a bag with food for the 3 days they’re home. 1 bag Is enough for 2 people, they’re stuffffed. And with good food. It’s been heartwarming to see, especially with all the ugliness of2020

It is a challenge when you very seldom have money left for food, and the little box of food you get once a month from the food bank doesn't go far. Idiot, it’s obvious that your god doesn’t give a damn about these people.
They need food, money, help, and jobs that pay enough money to live on, not random wishes at the sky. I also hope they applied for food stamps/EBT/Pandemic EBT too.

I'm glad you said this. As well meaning as the OP meant to be,
people can't eat and pay their rent with "thoughts and prayers". This is the real world and we need solutions based in reality.

Give a man a fish. He eats for one day. Teach a man to fish. He eats everyday!
You’re gonna hear a lot more stories about this. This is what the anti-lockdown people were taking about. Which is worse, “widespread starvation due to a lot of people losing their jobs, or getting a virus that kills an incredibly small amount of people?”
Dunno, guess we went with a mix of both. Let’s see where this goes.

That little girl's got a heart she can speak up and I'm so proud of her and I'm so proud of y'all helping the family out nobody should starve nobody
What about the parents that don’t have any transportation how can they get the food. I see cars lined up that’s good, but everyone does not have cars. Something must be done to help, maybe a hotline for people in need of food to call, volunteer drivers to help.
I volunteer at a food distribution and deliver food to two families that can't make it there. A lot of our volunteers do the same.
So true. When I was a mom living in an extended stay hotel with my kids, I had no transportation to food banks. I asked so many food banks for help and none of them cared. They just said to get a friend to bring me. What friends? If I had friends or family who cared why would my kids and I be living in a hotel room? I'm so blessed to be out of that now. But back then I would go hungry many times so my kids could have more food. Papa John's became a lifeline because their occasional 50% off coupons helped me afford food. We didn't have Instacart back then even when I did have money. Only things in walking distance were one gas station and a bunch of restaurants.
My poor grandma (not as in no money, as in awww but she's old) walks everywhere to get boxes with her little cart😭
Where I live in NJ the school buses deliver to those with no transportation
A lot of people deliver. Because my neighbor was getting from those places. And a nice lady drove up to her door with bags of food and gave her them. Also school buses does them. A lot of school buses.
how heartbreaking thank god for the swift response god bless you all
What kind of cruel god would have put her in this situation IN THE FIRST PLACE?!?

We need less overseas help and more here. It’s time to get our house in order first and foremost.
If the american govt truly cared about this along with homeless vets it wouldn't be happening in 2021. We spend billions on military and get still have homeless and starving children
Genuinely who do y’all think we’re helping overseas. All we do is start wars and drop bombs.
The fact the whole community came together for this one family warms my heart. ❤️ This is our country. We have our differences but at the end of the day we come together to get things done.
There shouldn’t be starving children in an economy like yours.
@@metaverseplayer Yes. I agree
This broke my heart....no one should be going through this....especially starving. So happy the community came to their rescue we can all use a helping hand.
I depended on school for food when I was a child. Many kids do. These families really need help right now.
Do you realize the amount of food stamps they're giving out? I'm getting nearly 500 a month for me and 1 child right now. I don't understand why people don't have food right now. They're really giving allot in assistance. Income limits also increased to qualify. Something isn't adding up.
@@kristingallo2158 i don't get nearly that but is been boosted a lot its been nice not having to go to food banks for once
How is this happening here in America? We need to re-allocate funds to these programs, this is so sad to see. None of our kids should be starving!! 💔
Need to do something, you are right. As the left are for open borders, it will be even more harder to feed everyone.
It's happening in America because of government lockdowns and the planned way the Great Reset is altering and reducing the food supply. Ice Age Farmer on RUclips and telegram (an American farmer) gives the details that the media is not reporting but info farmers have access to.
I would’ve cried my eyes out like I’m doing now and ended class went straight to the store and just got all kind of things. Just to know it’s still children out here that haven’t eaten in weeks just break my heart. S/N to the people who go to the food bank and you know you can afford to buy food think of the family that you just took meals from because you want to be greedy.
who gos to the food bank being able to make ends meet and why didn't this little girl parents not goto a foodbank
@@joejacko1587 a lot of the food banks have been struggling due to the pandemic. A lot of places couldn’t except donations and some places have closed
There were a few points in growing up where we didn’t have anything to eat, to the point where my mom brought home fruit picked from a tree blocks away one time. I feel heartbroken that a kid was so hungry to point where she had to tell her school, it really feels so humiliating. 😕 I’m glad she got the help she needed
Imagine what the humility and courage of this young lady has spawned! The government is not the answer to our problems. It is up to us as a community to lookout for those around us and offer what we have and they need.

Awww - I’m glad she spoke up. Poor girl
I’m glad she spoke up. We need to do better with helping children and families get food
Yeah, her parents should have been the ones speaking up.
This is so sad. Every neighborhood should be gathering together and checking in each other
This is so sad. It's really heart-wrenching how many kids depend on school for food. Where I live, the schools had a drive around meal service for low-income families. You could go every morning and pick up breakfast, lunch, and a couple snacks. I guess I assumed every state was offering that.
Sadly, when this pandemic hit and our kids were put in virtual school there never was a security placed on internet access. Meaning that we still had to find the money for the internet despite being out of work, denied benefits for whatever reason and even after explaining to the internet providers that we just couldn't afford the bill but our children required access for school. This also limited adults in job searching as most libraries and career centers had closed or restricted access. In rural areas, this was and continues to be devastating. Multi Billion dollar companies are being petty AF. Parents and all others are being forced to choose between food, electricity, internet for education and job searching, medication and transportation.
Just the headline it self broke my heart. The story left me speechless. Poor baby. I’m in tears.
Two things. 1) This absolutely shatters my heart...
2) It's been a year since the pandemic officially shut the world off. I have friends in other countries, and they have told me about the assistance that they're receiving. They are able to get by/maintain their lives and families. Then we have America. In one year, they have issued a $1200 stimulus, a $600 stimulus, and now a $1400 stimulus (which not everyone will get?) That is $3200 for a single adult... for a year. A whole year. How many millions of people have been struggling to keep a roof over their heads, and food in their stomachs, for the last year? It should not be such a knock-down, drag-out fight to get our own country to help its people in this time of need! We, meaning the gov't, seem to have no problem deciding to send off billions of dollars to assist other countries in times of crisis, but when it comes to doing something for the citizens of America, there is an endless struggle? I can't be the only one that sees how backwards this is? Step up your game America! Remember, this is "the greatest country on Earth", so how about you start treating it as such. This is my first apocalypse, and I'm not entirely sure how things should be happening, but I am damned sure that we should not have any child crying because they don't have any food to eat. I am proud to be an American... but I am also very ashamed of my country.

We need to start gardening again. Government should donate corner lots for community garden
This! Yessss. We need to get back to independent food security, not solely relying on jobs/grocery stores. I've been wanting to start a small community garden for this reason. It would help so much for food scarcity if people would each grow whatever they can in their allotted areas and trade with their neighbors. Like if I grow potatoes, you grow tomatoes, someone grows kale/lettuce, carrots or whatever they can, if someone has enough yard space and can have chickens for eggs and meat for those who want it, we could be each other's grocery store with the freshest produce around.🙄
The government does not care
Why depend on the gov? Why not start growing in your backyard or your balcony and donate it to food banks or neighbors?
Fruit trees and food bearing vines instead?
YES! YES! YES!!!!!!! they plant trees and bushes for landscaping all over the place, why not plant f
I’m not talking about this case, but it’s crazy how many parents out there will spend money on unnecessary things rather than feeding and caring for their kids
I have to agree, my first thought was why did the child have to be the one to say she was starving, why was the parent not being proactive and trying to get food for her child?
