    "Bad posture." I always forget about this one. Whenever I see something about posture, I immediately fix it, but always forget to continue with the improved posture...

      I'm the same. It really seems to make a difference when I remember it but good posture hasn't become second nature to me yet. I'm working on it!

      ::: Ever try to remind yourself by using a timer, like the one on your phone? Set it for 5 or 10 minutes at first, see how it goes! I do that for deep breathing, and it works great!

    But one thing- honestly, I don't need to think that I'm failing all the time myself, my parents do that for me. I don't set goals, because I usually set way too high ones and in the end I don't achieve them. But if I do, that'll automatically be my standard, so I'd have nothing to be happy about, if I achieved my standard. I just wrote a French exam, and my father KEEPS ON ASKING WHAT GRADE I GOT. Like damn, stop pressuring me! I told him, I don't know yet, but I guess around B. He said: "A B is bad, try better, you had plenty of time to study. You shouldn't be so lazy in that age, that's not normal. Look at your sister!" Wtf, why is a B bad?! Sorry that I'm not a student with only A+, I know that I can't do anything right, I get to hear that daily, so I didn't forget it, don't worry 🙄
    My mom says, I shouldn't keep my standards so low, when I said, that if I happened to get a C by accident, that it wouldn't be the end of the world.
    Sorry that I wrote so much, I just needed to talk a bit about it, and the internet somehow seems the safest to me, since there aren't many people I know irl...

      Ok, so, I related to this so much, Im literrally in the same situation, just remember that as long as your happy its ok, parents like this dont understand were human and need a break, do try your best and try to improve every day, but not in a way youll end up hurting yourself. Anyways Im sure youre an amazing person and everything will be ok!!♡♡♡♡

      I’m sorry you’re going through this. It’s hard when your parents don’t celebrate your successes, because they do matter. I experienced something similar, my parents always compared me to my twin (we took almost all the same classes, so woo direct comparisons) and rarely let me be happy about my accomplishments. When I tried to set my own standards they went crazy and thought I was lazy and was going to fail. It got better in college because they couldn’t be there to set or reinforce standards. And honestly, there’s more to life than just school, that’s something important I learned in college.
      I know it’s hard, but try to be strong. I still live with one of my parents and I have that constant feeling that I’m being judged. But feel self-assured that what you are doing is the best you can. You are smart enough to know what’s best for you, and celebrate your successes. :)

    I was recently diagnosed with covid and had really had negative thoughts all over. And also I have realised that i have been suppressing my emotions thinking that what others will think about me. watching ur videos helped me to stay calm.

      i only watch you tube crime or documentaries. im never on social media. I honestly dont believe YT is social media its onlt social media when your looking at the shorts where everyone wants to show off what they got or how they are remodeling theyre mansion 😂 so those are things that never interested me to begin with. I can careless about what makeup you got today or purse or clothes or back drop- all i want is to relate and i love documentaries with crime tv baby and that is not social media ❤

    I really like how calming these videos are with the chill, cute drawings and how they speak and how the tips are actually helpful. Like, it’s very nice when you usually have many people shouting and being stressed around you and that doesn’t always care that much about mental health.

    These videos never fail to, not only make me self-conscious, but make me worried too, bc I just got to the conclusion that the only one I do not relate to is the social media one.
    I always feel like a burden when my stress and sadness take over me. I wish and long for someone to talk to, but end backing off in fear of bothering other people with my problems.
    It's really suffocating. That's why I took a break from social media 2 years ago. That made me realize how much brighter the world is without my screen blocking it. But I still keep all my emotions bottled in the bottom of my heart..I guess..I'm afraid of what will happen when I let them go...
    I don't even know if all of this mess makes sense, just wanted to vent a bit. I grew familiar with being a mess anyways..

    I have a real low self-esteem,i feel like i cant be good enough and all my negative thoughts are piled up and its even worse when people taunt me for who i am and what my traits are its just i cant seem yo shatter my feelings and i feel so clueless all the time and idk what to do,one day everything is fine but the next moment everything falls apart even if you keep trying,but i hope everything gets better

    Got all of these habits, depressed and anxious. But after long-lasting period of antidepressants and some therapy i've started to realise my mistakes and work on my mental health in the first place. Sometimes it's really hard but i finally tend to bring myself peace, not physical punishment (as cuts, f.e.). If you're on the same way, be patient and loyal to yourself. Fighting depression's not easy, but as soon you feel better you realise it's worthy

    I learn from a youtuber this kind of mantra:
    "Protect your energy"
    That means that we need to stop seing/doing things that make us feel bad. Like unfollow unrealistic beauty instagramers or youtubers, to stop comparing with them, sm about negative topics and things like that

    1) push away sadness/angry - yes
    2) stress pile up - yes - music and gym helps.
    3) negative through - at night
    4) social media - glued for a distraction
    5) not myself - people pleaser
    6) bad posture - hurt my back at the gym lol

    Absolutely 100% true, #1 and #3 are some of my biggest problems. I try not to get consumed by anger. As a teen, I would black out and beat the crap out of people that pushed to hard. After the last time I let myself get consumed. I got pulled off a guy that punched me in the mouth from behind, right after sharing a pizza with him and a couple of his friends. I tasted blood then next thing I know I'm being pulled up off him by my friend and his. He had 5 teeth missing, broke the bones around his left eye, the arm he hit me with and one of his legs. The only people that knew what happened were the 5 of us that were there. Because I didn't tell anyone when he came back to school. He told people he got hit by a box truck. I have never told anyone this, it was 1995 when it happened. I was 15, and have never hit another person since. I have worked in steel industry for the past 20 years now. To be honest I am terrified of what could happen if I ever lost control again. That is why I personally suppress the heck out of my anger.

    Seeing that each and every one of these signs apply to me
    Makes me feel really hopeless and sad.
    I've been trying to get better with my mental health for years, still do
    But I often fall back and feel horrible and seing how stress, anger and depression can also support the gaining of weight, while I'm unhappy with myself is like a weight that pulls me down. I don't know how to help myself anymore, because I feel like everytime I make a little success in getting better, fears and anxiety or my environment break me down again. Especially the high levels of stress that I have due to generalized anxiety make me worry even more. I'm afraid to ask for help (even though I am getting help, I'm often alone with my issues because I bottle up)
    I'm sorry this got overly long but I want to thank you for making this wondefully animated Video and talking about the topic. This comment section also is the only comment section where I can feel slightly safe to write a comment like this. So thank you Psych2Go!

      You being able to hit the highs despite everything that's clamouring to drag you down low is already a hugeee accomplishment :) So please give yourself that credit cuz you deserve it! And it's fantastic that you've come this far and i admire you for being able to be true to your struggles here. Younger me wouldnt even have been able to be authentic even with the anonymity of the net and i just felt trapped fearing judgement from anyone anywhere.
      Even on your worst of days, doing anything at all like getting out of bed is already something to be proud of. I'll never understand your woes exactly as i can't live in your shoes. But know that i'm here fighting my own battles alongside you! And still trying. On so many days i've just lost so much hope. Like what's the point of all this even? Im just goin round in circles stuck in a rut.
      But on days where my being seems to emanate a little more sunshine than usual, it gives me hope for another day that it's still worth fighting for, somehow. Even though im still trying to cope with my depression, a defunct family who has 0 understanding of depression + my needs, and everyone's + my own expectation of self. Ah and yes the meds are doing an unfortunately good job w the weight gain and lowered self esteem haha.
      Anywho, i'd say you even bothering to share your little story here on youtube shows that you still have that fighting spirit in you and the desire to be heard. Idk how many folks in your life are even ppl you can share your woes with, but for what it matters as one stranger on the net to another, i hear you ♡ And we'll somehow get thru this together!!
      (P.s. i managed to apply and get a full subsidy for therapy sessions recently. For me it rlly helps to speak to a neutral 3rd party who is trained in counselling. It would be too expensive had i no subsidy, and i wouldnt have gone. So i hope that where you are mental healthcare is at least somehow affordable :')
      If you havent tried therapy though, i honestly think it's worth a shot! I tend to bottle up a lot too and sessions have really helped me blow off some steam and see things in a new light :)

    #5 applies to me the most. I recently realized that I am very critical of everything I do or have done. I'm working on why I've been hating myself for every failure (real or imagined) I make. For example: I hate myself for not standing up for myself in that I do whatever anybody wants me to do without expressing that I don't or can't do it right now or I'm too tired to do that task. And worse.

    That good posture = happy is a new to me. I’ve had this bad habit my whole life that my bottom spine is slightly slanted to the side according to my doctor. This new mindset of posture will help me think about it next time I want to slouch. Thank you so much 😊

    4/6. I don't spend much time in social media and (mostly) don't let the stress pile. Others? Do. Constantly.
    But now I'm trying to not. It's hard as hell to change the way you think, but it already seems to worth it.
    I have never thought about the posture, though. I will try to make it better, too.

    My dad was an abusive piece of shit, but for whatever reason he was obsessed with good posture. He didn’t allow me or my siblings to slouch, even as little kids. I’m 20 now and it’s the one thing I’d thank him for. It almost hurts to not sit up straight.

    I actually had a really bad posture for a really long time, but I’ve been working out with a personal trainer and my family, and not very long ago they said that my posture is improving. I am really proud of myself☺️

    Wow this is a right time video for me, since I've been feeling really low,unmotivated perhaps the lowest I've ever been, I don't how it's like to be cheerful any more

    Suppressing your emotions is a weird one. From my experience, if it goes on without you noticing for a long while some of it becomes second nature. But once you learn of it, you stop doing what you can but you have to suppress the suppressing to get at what you're feeling, but you can only do so much at a time.

      I don't really know what to do, if I stay quite my family stops berating me and such. If I say anything they'll say that I'm in no position to tall to them about my point of view. Like one time I was told to sweep the floors and I tried my best when it came to drying, but it was still slightly wet. When my mom noticed this she took the mop and said stuff such as "you can't do anything right" and "all you know is how to play games" I thought I did okay but I guess not, this is only one thing out of the day and I'm not including the rest of my family. Sorry if this took too long to read I just wanted to get this out of my system

    For anyone relating to these points, I would greatly recommend you all the book "The Happiness Trap" by Russ Harris. The book contains information on why these things happen, how you deal with them in a constructive way that helps more in the long term rather than for example suppressing an emotion that will eventually come back anyways. For me the book has helped me tremendously so far, the exercises Russ provides makes me take action immediately.

    I have found this has had an increasingly worse effect through working from home during this pandemic. Would be interesting to see a video which looks at the positive and negative psychology tolls working from home can have on your mental well-being. At first I loved it but now it’s getting so much harder mentally.

    I certainly repress, especially because I can't express them because of the backlash I'd get. I repressed crushes, anger, sadness, and even happiness because I will find that the people around me will cause more damage than simply holding it all back. That certainly leads into 5, not being true to myself. But I've found that to live in the world, no one can truly be themselves.

    This makes me sad in a different way. Almost all of these apply to my father, but because of his past (including racism and serving in Vietnam) he almost never shares anything about himself. If you ask how you can help him, he can't make himself say anything.

      @@pizzapie7 I used to be best friends with a popular group of kids. I would say mean things to other so that they would keep being my friend. I always had trouble with school and had to go into separate education classes for about an hour a day during school so I would miss allot. Rumors began going around that they weren’t my friends. They were just using me so I could give them things. I ignored the rumors. I had a few other friends but they were toxic and cried to me made everything my problem. Eventually they began online bullying me. They told me if I didn’t help them skip class they would stop being my friend. I couldn’t loose them. I gave up everything to be with them. So I did it. I did it just for them to leave me a month or two later. Nothing was right after that.

    3:10 (Not being true to myself)
    3:37 (Bad Posture)
    My mom always says “Why do always have bad thoughts?!?!? Stop with that stuff now!! You shouldnt be saying that!!!”
    I always say *im sorry.* But the one thing i want to say is..
    “How..How am I not supposed to have these thoughts..its hard to have such *positive* thoughts. You know why I have bad thoughts? Its because I ALWAYS FEEL LIKE IM *NOT* *ENOUGH* FOR YOU OR THE FAMILY!!! I FEEL LIKE IM A *FAILURE!!!!* I ALWAYS FEEL LIKE IM THE ONE WHO’S SUFFERING MOST!! I’M ALWAYS SAYING NEGATIVE THING TO MAKE YOU REALIZE HOW *I FEEL!!!!!* WHY CANT YOU REALIZE MY PAIN?!?!? WHY CANT YOU SEE HOW UPSET I AM?! ALL YOU EVER CARE ABOUT ARE MY DAMN GRADES!!!     I constantly suppress the negative emotions, cause that's kinda what society has taught me. Sometimes it just gets too overwhelming and I try to express them some type of way, that no one could notice it. I've always had this fear of getting judged if I do express them, but I'm trying to get over it. Anyway, it was a good video! Thank you! 😊
