Fitting for a racing game that feels like this, that this sounds very similar to a quote by Ayrton Senna. _"On a given day, a given circumstance, you think you have a limit. And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit, and you think, 'Okay, this is the limit'. And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high."_

Ok man. History of A2 special for you. SPOILER ALERT!!! YoRHa Type A (Attacker) No.2 or A2 serves as the protagonist of Branch C in NieR:Automata, as well as the final boss in Branch D. She is also a major character in the YoRHa Stage Play. She is a prototype of the YoRHa android line, and combat data from her and her comrades was used to create the superior current lines, including 2B and 9S. She doesn't like to speak and often keeps to herself.[1] Three years prior to the events of NieR:Automata, she was a member of the first YoRHa squadron deployed to Earth as part of the Pearl Harbor Descent during the early years of the 14th Machine War. Her alias at the time was No2 which is parsed in Automata as "Number Two".[2] She was portrayed by Ruka Endo in the stage play. A2 is first encountered by 2B and 9S killing Immanuel. Pod 153 warns the pair that A2 is a wanted android and is recommended for annihilation. 9S questions the directive while 2B initiates battle against the mysterious A2. Following A2's defeat, 9S asks her why she betrayed them. A2 mentions that Command was the one who betrayed them and escapes. 2B and 9S attempt to give chase but realize she's already gone. After the defeat of Adam and Eve, when a corrupted 2B is being accosted by androids of YoRHa, A2 appears and disposes of her assailants. Realizing there's no hope for survival, 2B relegates her sword and memories to A2. A2 stabs 2B with her sword while 9S watches her take the sword out of 2B's bloodied corpse. 9S has a mental breakdown and angrily proclaims that he will kill the rogue android. A2 cuts her hair with 2B's sword in a style reminiscent of the deceased android. As he runs towards her, he falls off a bridge while gigantic pillars rise from the ground, forming The Tower. A2 is caught within the pillars' movements and is knocked unconscious. A2 wakes up on a piece of debris with Pod 042 greeting her a good morning. A2 wonders about the Pod following her and is told that 2B's final order insisted that Pod 042 should assist A2. A2 scoffs at the notion of needing help and tells the Pod to shut up. After requesting her motives several times, A2 finally relents and tells the Pod that her goal is to destroy machines. He then directs her to the Desert. A2 arrives at the desert and encounters a Goliath-class Machine named Hegel. She defeats the machine and hacks into its mainframe, ultimately annihilating its core. A mirage of 2B appears to her and tells her that she and A2 are the same, with A2 angrily rejecting the notion by throwing her sword at where 2B appeared. After falling unconscious and reawaking, Pod informs A2 that her filter is full of sand and must be replaced. After heading to the Resistance Camp, A2 meets Pascal, who is under attack by several hostile machines. After dispatching them, A2 spares the machine, despite her grudge, and continues to the camp. After reuniting with Anemone, A2 finds out she needs Pascal's help in order to get a filter. Hesitantly, A2 receives help from Pascal, and in turn, helps him and his villagers with requests. After obtaining a book on philosophy from Anemone, Pascal's village turns on itself with some of the machines becoming cannibalistic. A2 returns to the village, only to find it in flames and the villagers feeding on eachother. She tells Pod 042 that they need to locate Pascal immediately. After dispatching the zombie machines, she and Pascal take the child machines to the abandoned Factory to hide from the machines. This proves to be a mistake, however, as a force of machines descend upon the factory. A2 and an enraged Pascal take up arms against the machines, and eventually overcome the enemy force when Pascal takes control of an Engels and kills them all. When the two return to the factory, they find all the children commited suicide out of fear of dying. Pascal, feeling guilt for having taught them the concept of fear, mentally breaks down and asks that A2 fulfill his final request: erase his memories, and therefore who he is, or kill him. After making her choice, A2 leaves the factory and makes her way to the Tower. A2 enters the God Box, and finds 9S who is about to be attacked by a corrupted Operator 21O. She kills 21O by impaling her several times, saving 9S. A2 then tells him that 2B wanted her to tell him that he should continue to be a good person. A mentally unstable 9S becomes enraged at the mention of 2B and attacks her. However, he falls down through the crumbling floor and Auguste appears before A2. Following the machine's defeat, its brothers surround it with pleas of "Big Brother", kowtowing and begging A2 to spare them. She chooses to either hesitantly execute them all or spare them via by walking back towards the elevator she came from. Having arrived at the base of the Tower, A2 encounters a wounded Devola and Popola, who explain that they've already opened the tower for 9S. As they make their way up the tower, A2 and Pod 042 enter a familiar Library, with Pod 042 explaining to A2 what libraries are. Within the library's depths, A2 encounters a book titled "Operational Summary of Model Number Two in Project YoRHa", and opens it, expressing surprise at its contents. Shortly after reading through the book, A2 is attacked by Ko-Shi that's infiltrated the library. After fighting the machine on an ascending elevator while 9S combats Ro-Shi above, the two knock their respective enemies into an arena. 9S attempts to confront A2, but the two are forced to work together to combat Ko-Shi & Ro-Shi, the two previous machines merged. After destroying the machine, A2 and 9S finally confront one another. A2 mentions that the tower they are in is actually a cannon aimed at the human server on the moon. If they don't do anything, all of the remaining human data will be destroyed. A mentally unstable 9S tells A2 that humanity is extinct and that the human server was a lie perpetuated by YoRHa to keep the androids in line. If an android did find out, they were deigned to be killed. He states that the commander, him and 2B were all sacrificial lambs. A2 reveals to 9S that 2B was actually a special android unit called 2E that was designed to specifically execute YoRHa units, and that 2B hated killing 9S over and over again. Enraged by A2's words, 9S tells Pod 153 to stop talking until either he or A2 is dead.

@@Necreus4090 Yes, the very first car was the Mercedes Benz Wagon from 1875+, the first proper engine however was made by Henry Ford and some other guy I cant seem to remember. But yes you are correct
To those complaining about the music, "We're Finally Landing" is like the World Record History main theme. Sure, Summoning Salt made it popular, but many people are doing the same for their speedgames/communities. Keep up the good work, I'm not a TrackMania player but I love watching these documentaries
Man i am so fucking glad youtube showed me this outta nothing, I was a big trackmania fan and player back in the days and seeing such a passionate, careful made video on the topic makes me so happy to have being part of it for a period of my life, I don't know what kinda thing are you into my friend but your way of telling a history just hooked me from zero to 100 in a couple minutes so please keep doing this i hope this type of documentary becomes a thing next year and you are gonna be one of the big ones in this ride.
Awesome video, really great to see this type of commentary in the TM world! You just provided something fresh for the community and something interesting and tangible for the people outside of it, so I'm glad that you're doing this. Good explanations, good music and an even better voice. Hope to see more in the future!
clearly inspired by summoning salt which is not a bad thing, I quite liked and I really hope to see more in the future :) A12 would be a great topic because the racing line changed so much over the years
You missed one little trick: Because of the speeddrift the uphill-transition causes some extra airtime. You can see @ 13:40 how the player tries to avoid this by holding right at the uphill. Thats the main reason why the time was pushed down to .86
Good catch! TM has an air control mechanic in its physics, and you can control how far you jump before landing depending on your accelerator/brake usage mid-air. If you're going to overshoot your landing, hitting the brakes will help. Most well-designed tracks don't need it because they try to account for jump distance, but it's very clearly an intended effect of the game physics.
Ideally if you need to use air control at the end of a track, you want to aim your distance so that you fly through the finish in mid-air rather than landing first, because the brakes do reduce your speed. I'm not seeing any WR runs that do that, but a lot of them were pointing towards the sides of the finish, which have less vertical clearance and can ruin a run if you miss. You can see a run from Kripke nearly do that when the landing causes the rear end to pop up and hit the roof.
@@TatharNuar pretty sure this is false. The air control mechanic involves pressing the brake in midair, which stops the car from rotating along the pitch axis, allowing it to land with all of wheels on the ground rather than the front 2. It isn't adjusting airtime; that is done by controlling your launch beforehand. If it is true, it is only useful at the very end if you've overshot the finish, otherwise you're scrubbing speed and can't hope for any records besides personal best
The World Record was finally maxed out 2 days ago on May 22nd by trabadia at a 23.84. To put into perspective how insane this is, he tied the time of a TAS(Tool-Assisted-Speedrun) completely legit. What a legend.
I realize one thing I like so much about speed running. It's like science in the microcosm. The idea of the balance between revolutionary advancement and slow step by step optimization is shown in the jumps in record times. You'll see slow inching forward of a few tenth's of a second for a while, then a huge jump all at once of a second or two when a new technique is discovered.
RUclips doesn't know what games you've played before 🤦🏾♂️ you've obviously looked at some sort of speedrun or world records vids before, hence the recommend....... oh, there's also such a thing as random recommendations...
Trackmania is a great game, it's fun on a casual tryhard level as well (as in trying really hard to beat your own records but still being really slow).
Ima just say that this video is really well put together! The amount of research involved and the way how video is in perfect sync with music is outstanding, especially these smooth transitions! Thanks for shining some light on this niche gem :)
I'll be honest, this was a great video, well put together and documented but it irked me when I heard summoning salts music. I think you need to make it your own, directly copying the format music and style of another speed record historian hurts your image and isn't needed. Change the music and find your own style.
To be honest man, music is music. Whilst I respect your opinion, being a fan of Home, I enjoyed hearing 'We're Finally Landing' as it's one of my favourite songs of theirs. I love SummoningSalts videos but I wouldn't class this as a copy at all, the transitions and style aren't exclusively his, the format has been done a thousand times.
@@DarkLink94 yeah, amazing video but id suggest picking music other than home, it will help cement your own style, I think just a music change will help a LOT for that, other than that I am sure your content will catch on if you keep up the work, also as a suggestion the trackmania music you used was a really good choice of music for the video
DarkLink94 hey! I was a bit mad when I saw this video as well, but I think you learnt it the hard way. Good effort. Looking forward to your next attempts, have a cool 2020!
Absolutely amazing video and great work, truly loved you shining a light on TM and taking inspiration from Summoning Salt. Keep up the great work, waiting for next vid!!
Wow, i haven't seen a video That interesting about a video-game for years, awesome job at telling the story, awesome job on the montage and things, keep up the good work dude, looking forward to an other story for a competitive track like this one ! Thanks for sharing this with us !
Nobody: Competitive TrackMania players: "I am speed." "No, *_I_* am speed." "Well, I am speedier." "Ha! Pathetic. I am not your average everyday speed. I am...ADVANCED SPEED." "Come on, guys. There's no need to argue over this. After all, in the end, I AM SPEEDIEST."
here is a sentence from trabadia in twitlonger: "I can't be satisfied with anything. 85? 84? 83? none of that. this track appeared in my nightmares. at this time i cannot control myself and decided to cheat because i would be satisfied." he also says he regrets cheating in A01. he also said if there was a public TASing tool, he would rather become a TASer. he now creates TASes for tmnf tracks. EDIT: at least some respect to him, riolu doesn't admit he cheated.
Holy smokes...this is some awesome stuff. I used to play with anderson in TIB-clan back in the days when we discovered those tricks. We also discovered the trick with the starting ramp :D
Omg, i have searched for this game since i was 9yo when i played on a friend's pc and now i find it randomly, can't wait to download it and play it again
I was never a hardcore player of TM but I discovered the s4d by myself while playing online. I'd use the inside of my finger that was holding accelerate, the effort it took to press the brakes while holding go at the same time was usually enough to avoid major speed loss while triggering the drift. I never managed to use it as successfully as these WR hunters though, that's a level of skill beyond me for sure!
I think this is the video that introduced me TrackMania, I am very much a casual player bit do enjoy the game and watching the e-sports events like TMGL
I had never played Trackmania before watching this video a week ago, i absolutely loved the way the video was put together. Got me to download Trackmania, and I can say "I am hooked". Keep up the good work and look forward to any future videos.
I love how the "going back to basics" mentality of the Finnish Driver gave the keys to beating Shambo's godly start It just shows that there's no detail that needs to be perfected to get a WR run
I wish there was more videos like this about trackmania. It's a bit shame that trackmania series is not very popular on youtube, and mostly trackmania videos are getting popular thanks to youtube algorithm xD

Here's an extra 'ä' for you. Use it wisely.
15:13 That's what Rollin is doing at christmas day.
You know what they say: _"They see me _*_Rollin'_*_ , they hatin'..."_
This is a masterpiece of a video. A lot of people have copied/inspired from this idea and style but nothing can beat this very video.
I guess only A.I. can beat after millions of runs.
.84 has been done with TAS.

Awesome video, really great to see this type of commentary in the TM world! You just provided something fresh for the community and something interesting and tangible for the people outside of it, so I'm glad that you're doing this.
Good explanations, good music and an even better voice. Hope to see more in the future!

yep, i agree

5 months after this video has been uploaded, the wr is 23.83 by Trabadia... What a map

Don’t worry Rollin has a (legit) 23.83 now :)
Extremely well explained video showing replays entirely. Looking forward for what's coming next
clearly inspired by summoning salt which is not a bad thing, I quite liked and I really hope to see more in the future :)
A12 would be a great topic because the racing line changed so much over the years
15:48 holy shit what a well edited, well scripted moment
That was perfect
I'm not even a fan of the game, that was beautiful.
Got some Jon Bois vibes
You missed one little trick:
Because of the speeddrift the uphill-transition causes some extra airtime.
@@CGoody564 You fall faster when holding the accelerator. You can test it yourself
The World Record was finally maxed out 2 days ago on May 22nd by trabadia at a 23.84. To put into perspective how insane this is, he tied the time of a TAS(Tool-Assisted-Speedrun) completely legit. What a legend.
thanks :d
"Maxed", now maybe...
Next up: ESL-Hockolicious
Solid video, and nice to see some new TM content here on RUclips.
I never even played track mania, so Idk why I’m recommended this, but I watched the whole video and it was great! Very well made.
It's been 3 days, have you played it yet? :P
The new record is 23.83 by trabadia
this aged like cheap bread
Really appreciate the amount of work you put in this! Great video
Man when "we're finally landing" kicked in i got goosebumps
DracoTomes you should check out summoning salt’s channel.
So glad this showed up on my home feed. This was fantastic. Thank you.
Who are you and have you done to Summoning Salt?!
Daniel Hudler was thinking the same lol.
It’s even the same music
Dude as soon as I heard the music I was off to the comments
He not only use the music also his talking, structure and the pronounciation are the same.. even the used words
I thought it was Karl Jobst
@@dragileinchen1485 he also uses the same alphabet!!
I 100% agree. I will not do that same mistake again.
@@DarkLink94 I thought it was hilarious that you used his music, this is a great homage to summoning salt in my opinion.
DarkLink94 hey! I was a bit mad when I saw this video as well, but I think you learnt it the hard way. Good effort. Looking forward to your next attempts, have a cool 2020!
It's the third Time that I watch this video. I really love the atmosphere created by the music and your voice ! 👍

Wow, i haven't seen a video That interesting about a video-game for years, awesome job at telling the story, awesome job on the montage and things, keep up the good work dude, looking forward to an other story for a competitive track like this one ! Thanks for sharing this with us !

Brilliant video, thanks for all this work!!
Really, really, reeaaaallyyy good video!
I'm looking differently on riolus records now. In some ways he pushed the record further. Still wrong to cheat.
Sad to think the riolu records were probably cheated
And now trabadias
here is a sentence from trabadia in twitlonger:
"I can't be satisfied with anything. 85? 84? 83? none of that. this track appeared in my nightmares. at this time i cannot control myself and decided to cheat because i would be satisfied."
he also says he regrets cheating in A01. he also said if there was a public TASing tool, he would rather become a TASer.
he now creates TASes for tmnf tracks.
EDIT: at least some respect to him, riolu doesn't admit he cheated.
Holy smokes...this is some awesome stuff. I used to play with anderson in TIB-clan back in the days when we discovered those tricks. We also discovered the trick with the starting ramp :D
I wonder how many of these records really happened.
These are really good and really interesting videos. Keep it up!
I watched this when i was in vacation and i come back with my account to say great video !
I did not expect this video but was hooked by the delivery well done.
Omg, i have searched for this game since i was 9yo when i played on a friend's pc and now i find it randomly, can't wait to download it and play it again
This video was beatifull thank you🙏🏽
Daym Trackmania's Summoning Salt ! Noiiiceee 😝
Now we need a Karl Jobst
This Video is awsome! I love the way you made the video... Very entertaining.
I never thought I would get so interested in a video like this. Thank you.
15:45 goosebumps
I think this is the video that introduced me TrackMania, I am very much a casual player bit do enjoy the game and watching the e-sports events like TMGL
I like the fact that We're finally landing is now a staple of speedrun history videos.
I had never played Trackmania before watching this video a week ago, i absolutely loved the way the video was put together. Got me to download Trackmania, and I can say "I am hooked". Keep up the good work and look forward to any future videos.
"You can't make a run under 23.86. It's not possible."
"No, it's neccessary."
this video is exceptional! love the vinyl transitions and general approach
I love how the "going back to basics" mentality of the Finnish Driver gave the keys to beating Shambo's godly start
It just shows that there's no detail that needs to be perfected to get a WR run
Just the amount of effort you put in this video shows how amazing this community is and always have been! Keep up the amazing work
I wish there was more videos like this about trackmania. It's a bit shame that trackmania series is not very popular on youtube, and mostly trackmania videos are getting popular thanks to youtube algorithm xD
No words to describe how good this video is. You sir, are really good at this. To give you perception on how good it is, it made me write comment, i never write comment's
I remember when i got my first green medal, it just blew my mind.
Dude hefest got beaten on C14. A WR history video with all the changes in strats and cuts would be so insane and entertaining.

Great work on the video ;)
Man I really hope trackmania takes off. The game has been around for over 10 years and still has a community. For such an unpopular game, that has never been "mainstream", I find it amazing. Trackmania is great. TM Classic was the first game I ever played in my life.

It has this "Genuine interest" feel to it, for it being a speed running documentary on a game that I spent tons of hours playing in my childhood.
Hope to see more of this kind of content!!
PS: Is it posible to drift in the first corner? 🤔
You don't have enough speed to perform an efficient speedslide in the first corner. I tried it with no success.
@@riolutm I've probably spent hundreds of hours on A01 and I've put in what I thought were really fast times... and my best is still well over a half-second slower than yours. Well, I knew I wasn't WR fast... but I'm not even close. Heh. Well done!
