There’s a lot of really cool intentional design references in the prequels tied to the OT. I especially like the rots Anakin vs Dooku duel being a reference to Luke vs Vader in rotj and Anakin’s choice to betray Mace being a reference to Vader choosing to save Luke.

So the most hilarious thing I find about the "throne room" is that its just a modified Mooring Tower for Star Destroyers to dock hastily converted, either because the Death Star 2 had no accommodations for the emperor at that point or he demanded a room on the pole and the construction crews had only day to redesign the tower. I'm guessing its why is has all those capped off industrial pipes and that pit straight down to the reactor (I'm guessing for waste removal).
Its so funny to think return of the jedi final act takes place in the equivalent of an airport's sky bridge.

Resistence: I mean does the empire want us to kill him. I was thinking we might have to lightspeed a few cruisers into the fucking thing to even get close, but honestly...1 or 2 blaster shots oughta do it.
Admiral Ackbar: Suppose its a trap?
Resistance: I mean...possible but how? We could hit that from a distance with the shield down I mean, Is there some kind of armada of cannons or a cloud of fighters surrounding the tower to cut through?
R2D2: Uh , amazing uh no.... the tower isn't even independently shielded, No weapons on it at all.
Resistence: Your shitting me? Why.... why don't we just....'Snaps finger' I got it.
    12 HOURS LATER...
Emperor: "Your fleet is lost...your friends on the moon will soon be dead and you-" Intercom beeps "What is it, I'm in the middle of my second monologue."
Intercom: "Sir the shield is down and the rebel fleet have stopped attacking and seem to be repositioning."
    Emperor: Repositioning? Where?!
Vader's sithy sense is tingling: Luke... we should probably leave this room... immediately.
Emperor looks up: to see 100 ships surrounding the tower.
    Emperor: "...damn it. "
    Kaboom!

Well at least now we know that the two Royal guards had somewhere to go when they left. Also... WHY would there have been a seemingly bottomless chasm near the entrance? What would have possibly been the reason for that insane safety hazard? Many believe it went straight to the main reactor... again... WHY?

Never got far with that project, so it’s awesome to see a completed version, especially one that looks so great. Within a second of seeing this I was already imaging a military planner: one guy in a small craft with minimum power drift near the tower. Pilot space walks/floats/drifts to the window where the emperor is and attaches an explosive device outside. Kinda like what they used to do to British warships by swimming underneath and attaching a mine while in the harbour.

In the grand scheme of a station the size of a small moon a 100 story tower would stick out as obviously as you think. Factor in getting shot at by defense cannons and/or any star destroyers or cruisers in the vicinity and also guess whether the emperor was currently in the tower and it isn’t nearly as much of a target as you would think
