Steve Perry will always be The Voice but Arnel has been a godsend for rejuvenating Journey. Steve and Arnel are both great singers.
I would love to hear Steve Perry sing with them ...just one more time 😊 I know his voice has changed, but I still think he has a great voice. His last music "Traces" is beautiful.

Nobody could ever be better Steve, he's wasn't just the original, he is epic, but Arnel is a great singer and guy for keeping Steve Perry & Journey's songs alive and kicking for a whole new generation. I never got to see Steve and Journey in concert so I can't wait to be at Journey concert with Arnel this summer.

This song is nearly 40 years old and it has aged like a fine wine or a classic car. I remember the first time I heard it; I thought "This song is going to be legendary". Journey has many good songs and a few great ones but this is the one that brings everyone together.

Arnel has an awesome voice, that is why Journey is still alive.
Amel is an incredible vocalist. I really appreciate how he keeps the essence of the irreplaceable Steve Perry that it needs, but with his own unique grit and personality to the song. I feel like it’s a way to be respectful to what Steve created (which is part of the Journey sound), but still allows the fans to enjoy Journey with him gone.
Absolutely agree, Arnel's voice has gotten better with age if you ask me. Maybe he's lost a bit of that high register at this point after all he's 52, this particular is half step down but I still believe Arnel can sing this in standard key any day.
I like his accent that come through. This time next year they may have a new lineup. Who knows.
Arnel is an incredibly gifted singer, as was Steve Perry. Sadly, Steve lost his ability to sing in this vocal range, but Arnel still has it. Let's hope he keeps it so that Journey lives on for years to come!

I agree love to a live gig with them as a sound technican and engineer. One thing i would change is the kick drum microphone to shure beta 91a but everything else is on point

Arnel is the longest continuous singer for Journey however Steve Perry recorded his first Journey album "Infinity" in 1978 and his last Journey album "Trial By Fire" in 1996, that's 18 years.

I met Arnel in Oct 1989 in Olongapo . At the time he was with the AMO Band playing at Cal Jam night Club.
My wife's cousin Benji knew the band well , Benji said this singer is great. and it will blow you away.
After the first song which was sung by the keyboard player was terrible, deciding to get some beers at the bar the band started playing Tom Sawyer by Rush and I thought "crap this guy is going to slaughter this song."
With my back to the band paying for the beer, suddenly on the stage behind me was Geddy Lee singing. Nobody does Geddy Lee!
I turned around and saw a scrawny kid dressed like David Bowie as The thin White Duke, It was Arnel Pineda!!
It was astounding to listen to and watch. Every song they did was almost perfect as they were doing covers at that time.
The following night we had dinner at Kong's restaurant and I could not resist telling Arnel how talented he was and he needs to come to the states. He only shrugged and said it is tough getting a VISA and not much could be done about it.
Fast forward to Neil finding him on RUclips and the rest is well documented.

You're right, he does NOT sound much like Perry but he admits himself that he strives to. He idolizes Steve and he said on Oprah that he tries to sound as much like him as he can. I think he has a great voice but he CANNOT come close to comparing to "The Voice" Steve Perry! ;) There's only ONE Steve Perry and thank God he put that gorgeous vibrato on tracks forever to be enjoyed because, once he's gone, he's gone and no one compares.

There is a definitely a difference between him and Steve and Steve is a way better singer. You can hear Arnel accent from the Philippines in his voice

That’s totally not true at all, factoids. First of all Steve Perry still has done the most shows out of all the Journey lead singers and he used to sing 4-6 days in a row and tour 10 months straight and make a hit albums and start all over again. The shows used to be at least 2 hours straight. Steve Perry wrote /co-wrote / arranged the majority of the hit songs except 2 and sometimes produced them.
Arnel only sings 2-3 nights in a row and in 2019, only toured from end of September to December. The band also hires a backup lead singer to help him out and he only sings 80 min. The band also lowered the key for him in 2012. All Arnel does is sing the songs that are already hits.

You're actually inaccurate. Steve Perry, as any REAL, AVID Journey fan would know, was with the band during their most commercially successful periods from 1977 to 1988. He then rejoined from 1995 to 1998 when he had to leave for medical reasons. Add all of those years up? He was with them for 14 years. Pineda is 13 years. The touring schedule for Journey since Pineda joined is not anywhere near as intense as it was when the much younger Journey was touring with Perry as lead. Anyone who thinks that Arnel Pineda, who I do enjoy as lead of Journey, is anything close to as talented as Steve "the Voice" Perry is either tone deaf or fooling themselves.

Steve Perry is amazing of course, but let's not forget that Arnel did not break their arms to hire him as the new front man. The rest of the guys made the collective decision and chose Arnel on his excellent tone, charisma and professionalism. Jeez, if I never see another comment about how it should be Steve and how he's the best and how Arnel is a karaoke singer.....And remember folks Steve Perry was not forced out by the band... He quit for reasons which we all know and understand. Enjoy the music.

Some do ,some people never lose it.
This would be quite an analysis. We could observe that Arnel's talking voice is similar to Steve Perry's, so it wouldn't be a hassle for him to work on high pitch. Also we've come a long way in singing techniques in the last 15 years, both in medical and technical aspects.
G7 Sendo the band lowered key for him over 8 years ago and they hire a backup lead singer like that second keyboard player to sing many songs like Deen Castronovo used to on the tours.
I am a fan of Arnel since the late 80's when he was still with his AMO band singing in CALJAM (Olongapo/Subic) i really admire his voice. 😊
Rock singers used to not take care of their voices. They pushed themselves hard, took risks, and vocal training was unheard of. Arnel is fortunate to live in a time when a rock singer's voice is treated with respect.
What a great great band! I had the chance to see them in Paris in 1976 with Santana and I must confess that was Santana who took me there but in the end it was Journey who blew my mind that night.

Hawaii 🏝️ and islands like in the Caribbean 🏝️ are still on my bucket list ...... so, if I don't act or feel old, age 53 is DEFINITELY not old !! 💜💜💜

I'm so excited and truly happy to see Mr. Randy Jackson back. Yes, Journey is amazing no matter who's in the band. They were all great in different ways adding their style and takes to the cause giving fans worldwide a multitude of opinions and favorites to enjoy and debate forever. Throughout the journey of Journey the one constant has always been one Mr. Neil Schon. Without a doubt one of the very best and perhaps the most listened to guitar players of the last 40 years. Wow, 40 years!
He is a Guitarist par excellence. He is professional, dependable, versatile and creative. He has contributed iconic, enjoyable and extremely memorable music that everyone relates to. And they've always been positive, upbeat and encouraging. Today's "stars" would be advised to study the template that Journey did and achieved global acceptance, respect, fame, wealth, success not to mention the happiest and sexiest audiences on earth. Keep Rockin. And again, WELCOME BACK RANDY JACKSON! The best news I've heard in a long, long time. God Bless All.

Every time I hear the song I have to make a comment this is Bonnie FOerste I'm salt lake City Utah I will turn 78 years young this year I am legally blind and a double amputee above the knees but nothing stops me from living my life every time I hear this song I literally stop for a minute and think about how amazing my life is had an amazing this music is I've had a rough day today I really bad day I fell but I got up with the help of 911 they came and rescued me and then I went to sarpy cuz I'm getting my legs made and I walked this music inspires me it reminds me of who I am and it brings me back to where I belong in my mind you guys help me more than I could ever tell you music runs through my blood just like my blood does and my veins you guys are amazing for what you do God bless each and every one of you I guess I don't words it's the way I really should but this music is in my soul in my brain and in my body every time I hear this music I literally grateful for who I am as a woman thank you for making this possible I can never make enough comments to tell you how grateful I am that I hear this song and that you play it and sing it . You might like to check out another one of my favorites from back then, the legendary Jeff Lynne and the Electric Light Orchestra - ELO. So many great hits.
