As a former janitor, I take great offense at the notion that it's a degrading job. In reality, being a janitor is one of the most demanding roles in many offices, hospitals, schools, and other facilities. It requires a broad skill set and extensive knowledge to maintain a clean and functioning environment. It's not an easy task. I had to be knowledgeable about cleaning products and supply chain management, particularly in settings with children, to ensure a safe and clean space for everyone. Every day brought new challenges. Being a janitor involves much more than just filling toilet rolls and taking out the trash; it demands expertise in many different areas.
This is truly a man who deserves the notoriety he is getting. Finally there is a member of the older generation getting the chance to live out his dreams. God bless him and I wish him only the best and pray he stays humble!
Don’t Stop Believing was definitely the right choice of songs for him to sing. This man has been through so much and hasn’t given up. He’s so genuine and humble and has an amazing voice! Would love to see him win!❤
As a Journey fan I was absolutely shocked by his voice, I have been a Steve Peery fan since the 80's so when I heard this gentleman sing I,was dumb founded because no one but no one could sing that song but Steve Perry. I am 79 and didn't think I could be shocked but I surely was, I hope he goes all the,way

Two or three AGT auditions have lit up my heart over the years, bringing me to involuntary tears. But nothing compares to the impact Richard’s audition had on me. His genuine humility and caring for others shone out with his incredible voice and rendition of “ Don’t Stop Believing.” He is a masterpiece!

A janitor should not be described as a degrading job. As a young medical student, I can say proudly I learnt so much on the wards from a janitor and the ever present value of Janitors in limiting hospital acquired infections associated with the environment.
