      Yep. I got #49, a present from my GF. I may swap out the piezo, for an internal mic, as it's a bit squawky (but I usually play it with a mic in front anyway.)

      Thanks!! I use the pickup with an LR Baggs Align EQ on stage and cut the 1k-4K area - it actually sounds really nice then. Might cost less to try than an internal mic.

    Too strange. I heard The Beatles' version this morning for the first time in years, and I actually wondered how the guitar could be interpreted differently. Turned on my laptop and saw this. Josh, your guitar sounds amazing and I LOVE your interpretation of this great song.

    You are a master and living proof you don’t need a $10000 guitar to sound fantastic! As for the B and S laminate , makes perfect sense for traveling. I also think the care in the setup , string and nut action, etc., is just as important to many players as the wood choices.

    I was on the waitlist after missing out the first time around. Placed my order already. Hope to get it sometime next week if I am lucky. I know it will be a worthy addition to my collection. In terms of answering the question, how many guitars does someone need? The answer is - as many as you currently have, plus one! Thanks Josh. Wishing you continued success on your musical journey!!!!

    Yes, a lovely guitar, but man… what an absolutely lovely arrangement of a classic song - very true to the Herb Alpert Tijuana Brass instrumental cover, which I would have thought would not be possible on guitar. Just fantastic! BTW, I was five years old when Alpert’s “Whipped Cream and Other Delights” album came out in 1965; “A Taste of Honey” was the first track. I remember my parents playing that album on their suitcase LP Stereo Phonograph Player at cocktail parties. A few years later, I found that album cover particularly intriguing, and I about wore that album out. Thanks for bringing back some great memories, and for keeping our parents’ (likely your grandparents’!) music alive! 😃😃😃

    Superb version of A Taste of Honey and your guitar sounds amazing. You always manage to astonish me a little more with your playing which is always growing and improving. Loved the harmonics. A Taste of Honey has such a great melody and I've loved it since I heard The Beatles do it on their 1963 Please Please Me album only 60 years ago.

    Its sound is really magic under your fingers but... (Yes, I'm crying) : how much with the trip to send it to France for example? And: would it sound the same without microphone (in acoustic game) ? Its treble strings seemed to me a little distorted at the beginning and at the end of your playing, or is it a stylistic effect ? I didn't know you were a luthier, more than many talented dear artist ! Admiration.

    I watched the D'Angelico Guitars version of this session. Please, Kelly, don't ever use the multi-camera method where it shows Josh talking from the side like they did. I hate that method. If the subject is talking to all of us, why show them talking to someone on the other side of the room? Other than that, it's a great video with Josh talking about his equipment and how he records acoustic instrumentals and talking more about the reissue of his guitar.

    All the other Excels are all-solid woods. But not this one? At $800?. Guild and Yamaha both make very good OM/000 solid models for around this price. No need for to settle for a laminate body anymore.

    • @JoshTurnerGuitar
      @JoshTurnerGuitar  11 месяцев назад +5

      The all solid Excels cost $200 more. I could’ve gone that route, but I actually deliberately chose laminate back and sides because this is my touring instrument, and some laminate wood makes the guitar less susceptible to temperature and humidity fluctuations. Guild and Yamaha both make great guitars! But this one works for me.

    • @lowellcalavera6045
      @lowellcalavera6045 11 месяцев назад
