As someone with anger issues, I can say it's not that we're angry all the time. Spoiler alert: I like this resident and I saw a lot of people treat him as 'bro'. And I think there is a reason for it. Real life people... also are like that. Some people are not beautiful, some people have clean teeth, some people cry every night and some people have an extremely rare eye condition that leaves them with two pupils. Visitors act weird about requesting to enter, stumble over their own words, struggle to make a sensible sentence without awkawrd pauses. The 'bar guy' as wiki calls him is also like that. He is stumbling on his own words, making a visible effort not to rage at us, so that we'd tolerate him and invite him in. For all intents and purposes... he is a visitor from a different world. But not from an extra-terrestrial one. From a world where it was proclaimed that being alone is ok. The bar guy was ok being an alcoholic, being kicked out of places, not getting along with people. What's annoying about people like him is that he is okay being a detriment to others bc unlike others, they don't mind being ostracized, so their behaviour goes unchecked. But this time, the circumstances have changed. This time, being ostracized is a matter of life and death. And he, for once, NEEDS to be accepted. Needs to show his good side, like an obedient puppy.
Ive never had an apocalypse game feel so real, most of the time they act like human beings are overtly murderous when in reality we'd all just be scared, anxious, hopeless for some. But despite it all, humanity will always weather the trials.

Ngl, this theme fills me with unease and dread. It feels like there's no hope, death is coming closer and closer, even though the fight still goes on..
Same. This theme along with the situation in game filled me with dread and it made me feel depressed for a day. I felt hopelessness and dread for a entire day. Very powerful song.
my favorite 3 characters are this tall bro with anger issues and the old surgeon with 2 eye pupils and the widow who is carrying her dead husband on her shoulders those characters just feel the most real and sincere too me the way the tall anger issues guy being very appreciative of you letting him in and the way he try to control his temper the best he could when talking to you the way the old surgeon just smiling and ok to answer all you questions and him being very hopeful and wanting to help to the best he can the way that widow unable to let go of her dead husband and the way she look so tired as if she never get much sleep and spend all nights crying almost all characters in this game feel so real but those 3 are my favorites
I honestly love the dynamic between the humans and visitors. The visitors all seem like poorly written characters. They try too hard with a one-dimensional personality, and almost act like apocalypse movie characters. The people are just... people. They seem hopeless, yet not always panicking. Hopeful, yet hopeless. These are real complex humans, and that's how you can tell. That's the reason they are such better characters compared to the others, because I think that was intentional. They are real, fleshed out people.
This fills me with dread, sadness, hopelessness and vivid anxiety yet I cannot get enough of it. It is powerful, and combined with the context of the game is haunting and memorable.
We never acknowledge the fact that most of us are bad people, but when everything is fine and calm, we dont do anything bad to each other, as soon as shit hits the fan its easy for people to steal, kill and other things you usually wouldnt do, especially when you cant trust each other, people just become evil, or, they dont become evil, our true identity just comes to light, we are all bad people, its due to our survival instict, its normal to be that way, there are still 3 types of people in these situations, people who show kindness no matter what, people who let survival instict take over and people who embrace the bad sides of it, people who exploit you, be careful who you let in ;)
Yep the thought of dying at any time can cause some people to say well screw it I'll die anyway and proceed to do everything they thought about on instinct there's also the lucifer effect people who will follow higher authority no matter how evil they are if this evil has alot of strength the game displays this as when u kill people or visitors it doesn't matter no one really questions what your motives are or why u did it because you are that authority figure the only time they rise against u if you just let a bunch of visitors in and not checking them so they risk teaming up on u to get u out of the house and in this case they do
No ? Our "survival instincts" push us to band together in groups, it came for free with the whole "social species" deal we've been doing for a few million years already. Drop it with the "man is a wolf for man" attitude.
The music of the day demonstrates the calm of knowing that no one is going to knock on the door, a moment of relaxation before facing whatever is outside. Even though the world is ending, your home is still your home.
Was watching ManlyBadassHero play this and I knew that I wanted to find the soundtrack for this game immediately. It's a haunting song but oddly chill.
Is there a word for this kind of music? Like grainy quaint little music? Like I could clean my room to this on a rainy day and have nothing but good thoughts. Never even played or heard of this game till like 5 minutes ago and immediately looked up the song.
It really reminds me of Caretaker's album, same depressive feeling but he nailed that thing with dementia. His songs feel like memories of your former past slipping between your fingers despite you trying your hardest to keep them for as long as possible
I like the record scratches, the song sounds like a single the home owner is playing. When it's night the distortion and heavier scratching is like the failing of everything around him.
As melancholy as this theme is, to me there's a certain comfort and tenderness to it? By all means the situation the characters are in is very bleak, but like the Good Ending lends to, at least these people have found community; they don't have to wait out this apocalypse alone, just being in the presence of another can bring so much warmth under a cold burning sun.
I play Hoi4 often, and music can have completely different meanings if you can hear gunfire, artillery booms, or planes and tanks in the backround… I wonder it would sound with this song
the visitors are not aliens they dug themselves up from underground even they themselves don't realize that they are visitors they truly think they are humans when they aren't
I like games concept that theres global apocalypse like problem and you just don't take your armory from your american house and don't go outside for supply and kill bunch of zombies. you just like normal human scared paranoid and try to protect yourself and try to be human and help others don't let them die you have a heart too. Clostrofobic but cozy and safe house of yours. I love this kind of senarios. This feel sad and safe same time thats why I like stuck in house kind senarios you feel safe because you are inside the house but same time you are not free you trapped.
Something about this game really captured me. The somber melancholic vibe and music really conveyed the feeling of a world succumbing to some dark, unknown horror we can't comprehend.
There is something horrifyingly comforting about this theme. It doesn't promise safety, but it isn't obvious with its threat as well. Just the acceptance of the end itself. The only firm answer being that world has fundamentally changed and will not return to what it used to be.
i'm not entirely sure what i feel when i hear this-perhaps a deep sadness, maybe a sense of isolation. It stirs an emotion within, something that compels me to cry, yet i find myself unable to. this, after all, is the nature of life.
You feel "toska", its russian term for this feeling and its hard to translate to other languages cause its kinda cultural thing. It is not surprising that this game and ost makes you feel this way, because its a russian game
Soothing, but with an eerie undercurrent. Perfectly captures the atmosphere of the game. Everyone looks normal at a glance, but anyone could be a danger.
I can't quite explain why, but this makes me feel exactly like I did as a child playing Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, walking through Folsense.
I think the last thing the poster expected was this video getting 100K views its strange how so many people decided that this theme is a banger and looked for it

Ive never had an apocalypse game feel so real, most of the time they act like human beings are overtly murderous when in reality we'd all just be scared, anxious, hopeless for some. But despite it all, humanity will always weather the trials.

This game could have even sold a lot more during C0V1D.
it just gives me this vibe that everything is going to go well while the world is ending idk
This theme is something about last hope in actuallly hopeless world.
Oh my god I love the music so much, I wish it was playing around my whole house, so hauntingly beautiful...
Ngl, this theme fills me with unease and dread. It feels like there's no hope, death is coming closer and closer, even though the fight still goes on..
Same. This theme along with the situation in game filled me with dread and it made me feel depressed for a day. I felt hopelessness and dread for a entire day. Very powerful song.

my favorite 3 characters are this tall bro with anger issues and the old surgeon with 2 eye pupils and the widow who is carrying her dead husband on her shoulders those characters just feel the most real and sincere too me
the way the tall anger issues guy being very appreciative of you letting him in and the way he try to control his temper the best he could when talking to you
the way the old surgeon just smiling and ok to answer all you questions and him being very hopeful and wanting to help to the best he can
the way that widow unable to let go of her dead husband and the way she look so tired as if she never get much sleep and spend all nights crying
almost all characters in this game feel so real but those 3 are my favorites
THIS.
We never acknowledge the fact that most of us are bad people, but when everything is fine and calm, we dont do anything bad to each other, as soon as shit hits the fan its easy for people to steal, kill and other things you usually wouldnt do, especially when you cant trust each other, people just become evil, or, they dont become evil, our true identity just comes to light, we are all bad people, its due to our survival instict, its normal to be that way, there are still 3 types of people in these situations, people who show kindness no matter what, people who let survival instict take over and people who embrace the bad sides of it, people who exploit you, be careful who you let in ;)
Yep the thought of dying at any time can cause some people to say well screw it I'll die anyway and proceed to do everything they thought about on instinct there's also the lucifer effect people who will follow higher authority no matter how evil they are if this evil has alot of strength the game displays this as when u kill people or visitors it doesn't matter no one really questions what your motives are or why u did it because you are that authority figure the only time they rise against u if you just let a bunch of visitors in and not checking them so they risk teaming up on u to get u out of the house and in this case they do
They do that becuse they fear what u may do if they don't listen to u so they don't really question when u kill soneone
I love this song. When I watched Manly playing it I immediately searched for it but couldn't find it. Thanks for uploading!
Whoever made this theme will always have undying love from me

Is there a word for this kind of music? Like grainy quaint little music? Like I could clean my room to this on a rainy day and have nothing but good thoughts. Never even played or heard of this game till like 5 minutes ago and immediately looked up the song.
Like 1950s British sea side hotel music. It's what it reminds me of
It really reminds me of Caretaker's album, same depressive feeling but he nailed that thing with dementia. His songs feel like memories of your former past slipping between your fingers despite you trying your hardest to keep them for as long as possible
If my life had a theme song, this would be it.
I like the record scratches, the song sounds like a single the home owner is playing. When it's night the distortion and heavier scratching is like the failing of everything around him.
*There was a man hanging with a sign on which was written: visitors are not welcome...*
Really good soundtrack for an indie game. This one in particular gives me nostalgia as to what the oldies would listen to on the radio.
I still keep coming back to this masterpiece
the most coziest haunting thing ever
As melancholy as this theme is, to me there's a certain comfort and tenderness to it? By all means the situation the characters are in is very bleak, but like the Good Ending lends to, at least these people have found community; they don't have to wait out this apocalypse alone, just being in the presence of another can bring so much warmth under a cold burning sun.
This has that 1950s horror/ thriller vibe but with a modern twist
I really love this song. I heard that this was only a demo? Cant wait till the full game comes out.
A good terrifying story is sometimes just what a person needs. This piece of music is composed nicely, I can feel the atmosphere.
this is one of the best theme ive ever heard of a videogame
Beautiful song, very fitting to the game. Props to whoever made it.
I play Hoi4 often, and music can have completely different meanings if you can hear gunfire, artillery booms, or planes and tanks in the backround… I wonder it would sound with this song
Someone sould make a mod and put this theme in it
A No am not a human mod in hoi4. THAT WOULD BE CRAZY
I love the no im not a human ost. So beautiful, so magic and so... melancholic. I promise im not a visitor.
Show your nails.
I appreciate and respect Slavic people. As an Argentinian, I see many similarities.
Listening to this song goes well with driving alone in the rain. I would love to have a 1 hour or 10 hr version.
This song has been living rent free in my head
Plot Twist: None of the humans were aliens but TV speaker
the visitors are not aliens they dug themselves up from underground even they themselves don't realize that they are visitors they truly think they are humans when they aren't
Always peaceful tall Russian chilling...
Something about this game really captured me. The somber melancholic vibe and music really conveyed the feeling of a world succumbing to some dark, unknown horror we can't comprehend.
This track made me cry, and I didn’t even know the reason
same here
its depressingly beautiful
this has been stuck in my head all day
There is something horrifyingly comforting about this theme. It doesn't promise safety, but it isn't obvious with its threat as well. Just the acceptance of the end itself. The only firm answer being that world has fundamentally changed and will not return to what it used to be.
You rlly nailed it. It can be sumarized as the acceptance of the end of mankind.
i'm not entirely sure what i feel when i hear this-perhaps a deep sadness, maybe a sense of isolation.
The description is literally what i thought when watching the gameplay, i absorbed by this theme..
This song is so nostalgic, melancholic, and sounds like regret mixed with hope. Idk, but i like it. It really gave the game an atmosphere of tragedy.
This song is NOT conventionally PLEASING to the ears...but perhaps that is why it fits the atmosphere PERFECTLY😢

strongly reminds me of caretaker's works
Right?
Soothing, but with an eerie undercurrent. Perfectly captures the atmosphere of the game. Everyone looks normal at a glance, but anyone could be a danger.
I can't quite explain why, but this makes me feel exactly like I did as a child playing Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, walking through Folsense.

The music makes you feel like: wow, this is so relaxing, but at the same time, something so melancholic and sad
The song is sad and hopeful at the same time. Perfect choice for the game.

The cross on the back wall is a nice touch.
This must have been the reality before the internet and the Information Age.
very interesting view point
Life must've been much slower for sure
The fact that the average consumer was not able to vet the products provided to them created the hyperinflation scenario that we currently live in. Only now when we can create virtuous hive minds through social media can we actually realize how bad things were before the advent of the Information Age.

this is weirdly comforting
I like how relaxing and sad this song is, it portrays very well the atmosphere of decay in the face of an apocalyptic scenario that no one can solve.
