      @@bcalath the game starts off really well tbh but drops the ball hard once you get to the dark heavens castle. Cause it's a very lengthy dark dungeon with no village building and a story focus. And well the story is not the strong point of the game. While the story bits are also short AF and poorly translated lmao. And the demon shaft is just super duper grind :D. But I like it. One thing I'd like to recommend is to start using Spinning Rising Slash (SRS) more often. It has very respectable motion value and can be used to change direction or to chain lateral combo. The main advantage over lateral twin blade combo is that you can change direction anytime as long as you've followed up with at least one attack. You can for example do advancing slash > SRS for fast close gap and hit action. Or you can do falling bash > SRS to quickly deal little bit of extra damage at the end of your combo before dodging or so.

    Quite chuffed to see that the way I've always played SnS was made more viable again. In pre-patch base Rise as well as pre-Iceborne base World, blunt force Shield and Sword was better but frankly I never really enjoyed that playstyle much so I still played elemental/status Sword and Shield, with ok-ish results.

    What are your thoughts on the B -> B -> B+Y -> B -> loop combo? I think I've read that it slightly out performs the one that ends in Spinning Reaper in larger openings just because it has less end lag, but I'm not sure how accurate that was.

    • @Dr_Philliam
      @Dr_Philliam  2 года назад +2

      it is best as long as you don't get a spinning reaper in at the end. The combo you described can't go into Spinning reaper, whereas the Twinblade Lateral combo can always go into it. At least from what I know. In both cases the DPS difference is tiny, but according to CookBook, twin lateral with a perfectly timed reaper at the end is a tiny tiny bit better.

    Great guide, I honestly have been playing through Sunbreak with my exact same combos as in Rise. I've seen a lot of talk on the discord about Hard Basher Combo still being the play with Raw weapons. You suggested Lateral combo with Raw, what are your thoughts on Hard Basher Combo?

    • @KanyewestFT1W
      @KanyewestFT1W 2 года назад +1

      I think its a great tool! I use a raw build with kamura SnS. On that build, lateral slash combo deals 720 damage, and hardbasher deals 640. Lateral slash is 2.4 seconds long, and hard basher is 2.53. Its about 20% less efficient damage wise, But! You don't waste sharpness, get an auto minds eye and allow for KO. I am able to run KO+3 on my build, so for early on in the hunt, I find hard basher more efficient. Use both imo. Both are great

    • @Dr_Philliam
      @Dr_Philliam  2 года назад +5

      For both of you: it's not bad and I suggested using it if you're struggling with sharpness. However, elemental weapons don't lose any raw really (e.g. valstrax 340 raw, Rathalos 330, zinogre 330) while having huge amounts of element and you'll notice a much bigger difference there than what David suggested. And also don't underestimate a 20% damage difference, that's absolutely massive. Sometimes we slot in 3 points of skills for less than 7%

    What about Drill Slash though? Is it at least viable to use for Elem/Status SnS?
    I'm asking this because on my blind playthrough of Sunbreak, i noticed that elements were finally powerful as they should be... and my go-to combo was Twin Blade Combo + Drill Slash into Spinning Reaper and i thought I was doing nice DMG overall, but I was wondering how & if Drill Slash could be used in a speedrun, or at the very least if it was worth the time/sharpness to use for Elem or Status Build-up? (I'm not yet into the endgame, so I dont know if a complete SnS build can include Protective Polish which I adore for SnS & DB)

    • @Dr_Philliam
      @Dr_Philliam  2 года назад +2

      There's a tiny niche for Drill Slash from what I've been told when the monster would get up perfectly in time and you couldn't continue hitting it after. But while the damage is good, the other two combos (lateral and twin lateral) are just better while also consuming less sharpness

      Hey Ditro! Thanks for your comment, but I'm not entirely sure. I know the MV buffs should be there, so the old combos should also be stronger, buuut you definitely won't have access to the new moves, which is a key component to the new combo. c:

      @Dr. Phil gotcha. The main draw to doing sns would be for support and the stun damage with the shield. Seeing you jack monsters up with your bash combos during your streams back at the start of Rise still is fresh in my mind. Hopefully shield combos are viable still.
      Think I'm just gonna cave and get the expansion on switch and play over there. I'd be on xbox if the expansion was out, but with Sunbreak coming out on xbox possibly around Diablo 4...no contest hah.

At that point I need facts clearly outlined to help me figure out what I should be doing at varying parts of the fight. I chose dragon heart 3 just to get dragon light at 70% rather than 50% health.
