    destroyer oil adds 20% to part damage. you could call it an extra level of partbreaker that also stacks with an already maxed out PB on your armor.

    • @MrJayza89
      @MrJayza89 2 года назад +30

      Stacks with pb for a 1.56% boost to part breaking. Also worth noting for anyone reading this it doesent get you more flinches as the description reads. When a part is broken the monster flinches or toppled and that’s what the description of the oil is referring to. Once the parts are broken it does literally nothing. Assuming you are breaking parts without the oil anyway then the oil is mostly worthless.
      In short use the oil for breaking parts and only for breaking parts.

      @@MrJayza89 I said the same on the other comment you replied to but this is not true. Partbreak and flinch use the same gauge (parts break when you have flinched the monster on that part a certain number of times; the lame thing is that you can hit that flinch limit even while a monster is downed most of the time, and with rare exceptions like Anjanath's throat, the counter resets but the flinch is wasted since the monster is already downed; anyway this is how you can break parts on downed monsters even though you can't flinch them), so as long as the part isn't broken yet, partbreak boosts your flinch rate as well.

    • @MrJayza89
      @MrJayza89 2 года назад +2

      @@vitriolicAmaranth you are confusing part break modifiers and stagger modifiers here. If the oil actually gave you more flinches (stagger modifier) then you’d get the flinches before the part breaks earlier as well but it doesn’t work that way. If it takes 3 flinches on a tigrex arm before it breaks you don’t get the first two flinches quicker with the oil on, you just reach that part break flinch (3rd flinch because the part breaks) even earlier. It works exactly the same way part breaker does.

      @@MrJayza89 there is a video showing you get 3 more flinches on an HR teostra with destroyer oil 100% active. It does indeed increase flinch values. Problem is, it's so unbelievably negligible you might as well just... not.

      @@shagohodred2464 yeah I’ve started searching it up more and I’m only getting more confused. It doesent seem like it’s all that easy to understand or feel the impact off. As far as I’m aware any extra flinches you get are a result of having gotten other flinches (part breaks) even earlier than they normally should have happened. Much the same way slugger may or may not get you an extra stun over the duration of a hunt.
      However like you mention here it’s negligible and up in the air if it even really helps outside of its purpose for breaking parts. It’s been nearly a month and we still don’t have a clear view on oil.

    I'm maining S&S for Sunbreak instead of Gunlance I did in base Rise. I run Sliding Slash on both scrolls, all shield based attacks on orange and the multi hits on blue. No Oil. I focus on ko to start and once I get a ko, I switch evade toward the tail. Drill combo is great for tail damage. Once the tail comes off, I still run the strategy just for different parts until the monster dies. I also run a blast weapon because the extra damage on explosions is a plus.

    Just a little note for instant backhop: the input should be guard>circle>back. At 13:00 , Ruri accidently gets a turnaround guard slash bcuz he's inputting first with the stick, turning him around.
    You should essentially be guard slashing whichever way you desire, then cancelling the guard slash animation by moving the stick towards your character's backside.

    The shield bash silkbind move single-handedly made me main SnS after I saw it once. It’s such a fast gap closer that surprisingly covers a lot of ground. Because of this I named my builds around it “Mosquito” because that monster is not getting rid of me that easily. Two dodge rolls away with max evade extender and I’m back in action with a single shield dash

    Shields up! Third Fleet represent! SnS main here since 3U. I'm no speed runner but here are some things of note:
    -Sliding Slash and Falling Shadow give i-frames on the connect. You can extend them with Evade Window if you're an evasion kinda player. E.Window also benefits backhop.
    -Shield Bash gets better with Guard Up and Offensive Guard. So does Guard Slash.
    -Oil does add part break damage, even if the additional stun damage seems low.
    -SnS provides the widest variety of playstyles of any weapon. Status, elemental, raw, support, etc.. It's identity lies in its versatility.
    After playing all of the weapons extensively, I keep "backhopping" to the SnS. It's THAT good. 👍

Of course, Wide Range+Speed Eating in Sunbreak is more affordable than ever, what with both Hard Friendship and Hard Gobbler decos being readily available even now. But even without healing support activities, it’s trivial to equip flash pods and sonic bombs in the item bar and then deploy them quickly, just like any weapon move.

    One thing you missed: Twin blade combos into spinning reaper, so you can end the infinite combo with it if you notice your opening is about to end. (The sword and shield combo actually does the same as well, but nobody cares about that move lol)
    Another thing possibly worth mentioning, is a different infinite combo. I've seen it discussed a little bit, but I don't know whether it beats the twin blade one. You do a full Triangle combo, twin blade (or I think you might skip over it, possibly depends on positioning), and then do two lateral slashes, into a spinning slash. Since you did the spinning slash before the 3rd hit of lateral slash, it won't be a spinning reaper, and therefore will combo back to the triangle attacks to start the combo over. If the opening ends you can either spinning reaper after the twin blade, or finish the lateral slash combo and spinning reaper after that. I don't know if it's higher damage, but it's possibly worth considering, especially since the spinning slash gives a little bit more control over positioning.

    Using drill slash I found the best combo on a down for me is Bash - Drill slash 1 - Drill slash 2 - spinning reaper - back hop - perfect rush - scaling slash - plunging thrust. I usually run element and this gets an enormous amount of hits in and just feels amazing. Also don't disregard drill slash. Yeah, lateral might do more damage, but it also takes longer. I found myself getting in all 3 drill slash attacks way more often during normal combat than laterals. Feels pretty good.

Say you roll towards the monster, press FOWARD and B and you will back hop away from the monster. If you press Back and B you will back hop towards the monster and face the opposite direction. Very counterintuitive to the normal PR inputs so you’ll have to get used to it but you can get very creative with your positioning. Say you roll past the monster and press Back and B you will essentially do and 180 and start your PR or the B charge slash.

    As an sns main I dare to say the Destroyer Oil is a garbage. Basically it doesn't feel impactful enough to justify wirebug cost that could be spend a better way. Buff duration is too short for it to be worth the tedious switch skill swap back and fort at least for me. Attack itself looks kind of cool and can be used as a gap closer but it does poor damage comparable to single sword slash with a long animation commitment. And it's not like you won't break parts / flinch monsters without it. I really hope Capcom will do something about it to give it its place in the game.

    As an SnS main I approve of this video. Hit all the key points and gotta say I agree with you on drill slash. Also destroyer oil comes in handy when I'm trying to part snipe like a tail for say. With part breaker and windmill I can get tails off pretty quickly, it's quite nice

    As a longtime SnS main, Destroyer Oil isn't worth it in this game. Not enough boost to KO damage from my experimentation with it. Oil was far better as an item. As a skill, the 2 wirebug cost is too much. It should have been 1. As it is right now, Shield Bash offers more KO potential, offers some great armor if you're running guard/guard up, and it combos into pretty much everything letting you extend combos and KO'ing even more. Extra part damage is nice for Destroyer oil, but I dunno, doesn't feel like a lot more to me.

    As an SnS main I also stick to the old final X move since I have a lot of muscle memory with the move, X+A mid combo is a repositioning tool already, and Rise's iteration of the weapon dissuades the use of X attacks anyway. I also prefer using destroyer oil since I'm not a fan of using wirebug "super" moves and it helps me maintain wirebug uptime for moments when I'll need wirebug up to escape big attacks.

    I like the infinite combo as filler myself
    so first, lead with mengeki on the roar. downs the monster, then lateral combo > perfect rush. another mengeki, then mount and wall smash. downed again, lateral combo > perfect rush
    at this point, they've been knocked down alot and likely frenzy here. so, now it's just look for opportunities to get in damage, and that's where the Infinite combo works for me. monster is frenzied, running all over the place, and the ease of use + reposition is super comfortable
    not gonna hit any leaderboards, but makes for a very comfy hunt

    Parry with Redirection or Shoryu, spam drill to apply poison because the Pukei SNS is busted, drill slash works with chain crit so you can basically get your full buff from 1 drill combo, perfect rush damage is absurd and the backstep has some s. You can also cancel endlag of certain moves with sss, this is especially useful with quick breath and the Dango skill that heals you since it'll heal status and recover a little health on top so you can do something like drill slash for full chain crit and then swap do 1 hit then PR with your full buff active. Most of your damage honestly comes from shoryu and pr at least in terms of raw/poison. I have never used destroyer oil and I don't feel like there's a point ftmp. I'd also recommend 2-3 evade extender depending on preference, I tend to like 2 more than 3 personally. The template armor I use is Pukei SNS, Astalos-Espinas-Espinas-Archfiend-Espinas with Redirection and Quick Breath on my charm. Also fairly important is PR is fairly generous after the glow and most situations don't require perfect execution so if it's more comfortable delaying PR inputs slightly then it's generally not a big deal. I personally like raw/poison for the general utility but elemental can also be really good though I haven't tried.
    Overall great tips, at around 20 minutes in rn and have to do stuff so if you mention this stuff cheers lol. This weapon is incredible tbh and has a lot of build variety so pretty much anything can be built around depending on preference

    You basically need to run elemental builds with the new element exploit skill from silver rath. Raw is just decent when a monster has bad elemental hitzones or is immune in a charged state. But it doesn't stand a chance against elements.
    So your scroll should look like this:
    Advancing Slash
    Drill Slash
    Twin Blade
    Metsu
    Shield Bash

  • @jacktheomnithere2127
    @jacktheomnithere2127 2 года назад

    i run Advancing Slash, Twin Blade and Hard Basher combos, Destroyer Oil and Shield Bash.
    what can i say? i like simplicity.
    my build's nothing special (and certainly not meta-breaking); it merely has the comforts i need on a hunt: Guard, Guard Up, Critical Eye, Critical Boost, Handicraft and Razor Sharp.
    i just with we got actual swords and shields for the weapon designs; few actually have that.
