Hey mak, awesome fly! I started to watch when you first posted this but couldn't finish, really glad I came back to it. I like your method for the body. I fooled around with extended bodies when I started tying many years ago but it didn't amount to much so I stopped, never had the right materials and I really didn't know what I was doing. I agree, they are a bit fiddly to do, like trying to tie a nail knot or snell a hook. That wing & hackle really caught my eye! Beautiful! The fly looks like a killer! I'll have to try it for the hex hatches we have on our Finger Lakes. Even more amazing was the scissors! I haven't seen one of those in years. Forgotten the name but I used to look at catalogs all the time for shears, knifes etc. I've really enjoyed these patterns of late, as well as all the rest you've done. Still have to catch up. Thanks mak! 👍👏👌🎣
Thank you very much Joe, I really appreciate that you are enjoying my tying, I love this Mayfly when they are hatching especially in May, I always catch with these Pattern, Please do tie one for this Season and see the result. As for the scissors I bought these from craft shop long time ago. Many Thanks mak
Thanks for sharing this video! I'm new to extended body flies. I really like the CDC wing! Looks like a hexigenia limbatta to me! I going to tie a few for the hex hatch in Michigan next June 2022! Tight lines!Cheers!
Excellent technique for the wing. Will need to give it a try.like that. I use PTN fibres for tails on detached bodies, so might have to look for a nice brush.
Great looking fly. as usual. Different technique for wing, looks good does it land well? What happened to your other vise? All the best. Love your bobbins! Sean
First time noticing the scissors. Awesome stuff!
Thank you friend 👍
