Two Tone Foam Mayfly | FlyToTie Fly Tying

- There is no other time like the hatch of big mayflies. The trout go wild and aren't as careful as they normally are. The flies are big and float well, you can use a thicker tippet and not worry about it breaking as much. We found that detached body mayflies like this one work wonders on trout. This time we're tying a two-toned version. It may not make a big difference but it sure looks great and will catch fish at least as well as any other detached body mayfly.

Hey, what’s all the faffing with the lighter and the scissors to tidy up the cdc, then you put about eight turns of hackle over 🤣 I think you got that OCD.
Otherwise, nice job, though I never had much luck with these detached foam mayflies. Which is a pity, because they’re quite fun.
These work really well here in Lithuania during peak mayfly season! As for the faffing about, just something that the fish don't care about, yet the fly tyer sometimes does :D trying to make the fly look tidy through every step of the process, not only the end result. Might be right about having a little bit of OCD
