"Hardcore gamer" here. I give the game a 10/10. Because I won't hold little things not being buffed or patched yet against a game that hasn't even been out a year.
Its hilarious, it's cool, it's fun. And those are the only 3 things a game needs to be.

It's a 9.5/10 if you want a party game for casuals. If you're a hardcore gamer it's a 7/10 game that has some significant issues and the cracks are going to start showing everywhere the more time you put into it.

I don't think I disagree with you on this. But, I think the largest complaint the "hardcores" seem to have is that there is no meta. The devs keep breaking meta gameplay. The hardcores obsess over the meta and what the "best" builds are. There's almost a new meta build video every 3 days it seems. I think the game is beautifully done. I don't remember where I heard it, but someone was commenting how (and this isn't verbatim), "...Gamers have gotten used to games buffing and nerfing up and down, where as Helldivers seems to buff laterally to take out any meta in an effort to create a stable balance that doesn't require serious health buffs/nerfs or damage buff/nerf..."
I've also played enough Star Citizen (lol) to know repairing one thing, breaks another. I am sure the devs have fixed enough things to have other problems present themselves with some bugs that didn't exist before.

Honestly I think devs saying, fuck the meta is great.

@@voodoowhiskeygamingquite honestly, I couldn't agree with you more. I think that every game is going to have a sort of, meta, where there is an arrangement of weapons that usually fit certain engagements best
But, The fact that your entry level assault rifle can be carried through on any difficulty is what makes this game so beautiful. Unlike other games where the difficulty of the enemies scale with the difficulty of the level, you don't really see that here. The basic bots and the basic bugs all have the exact same hit points on suicide as they do on trivial.
What you see changing on those higher difficulties are the amounts of units and a greater amount of top-tier units.
So it makes sense when people say that the railgun is meta on the harder difficulties, because you need that firepower to take out those stronger units.
But overall, there are plenty of weapons that fill the role, you just have to hope that you're able to effectively utilize the stratagems the way you should.
