Hey everyone, I hope you all had a nice Christmas with family, friends, and hopefully an MRE thrown in there at some point. It's great to be back after visiting some family for the holidays and here are two new videos tonight. This Chinese Type 09' and also a Canadian IMP. Oldsmokey just did a review on a Chinese Special Operations Food Packet ruclips.net/video/Vl4Ycb-Xyb8/видео.html Totally worth checking this one out while on the subject of Chinese Rations. PLA has more types of rations currently in service than any other country.
Steve1989MREInfo Hey Steve, thanks for the new videos. Just in time. I really enjoy them. However, you said/wrote something about merch a while ago... any news on that topic yet?
I can't believe I sit and watch some dude eat military rations lol. As a veteran, I do find it interesting to see how other countries approach their rations. It tickles me to see how much he enjoys eating them.
I eat 4 times when i duty at the PLA army. We often eats hot meal . It was like a studens i feel when i was a soldier. So someday suply MRE , it must is we outdoor to do trainng or repair Municipal (snow, flood) . We must happy for the meal , cause it was funny . someone like ,someone didn't. someone eat cupnoodls . I saw ones company cook cupnoodls using firebox, that's amingzing. that time just Menu A,B,C,D. But now Menu 1-12 . ( sorry for my English, i do my best)
Someone didn't like the MRE so they ate cup noodle instead? That feels... backward. But then again, I guess it's arguably more familiar for most people, I guess.
One of my earliest memories was eating those canned beef egg rolls as a child in 80s China! I remember them as being utterly delicious...basically like hot-dogs wrapped in an omelette (the canned version was much juicier) but I'm sure that memory's been distorted by nostalgia 😂 . The heated egg rolls were probably meant to be an accompaniment to the main meal, as plain rice tends to be too dull and Chinese people usually mix that with a saltier meat/egg/veg dish. Even boiled, salted peanuts work well as a side dish to rice, instead of eating it plain.
Maqaroon also eat dog meat 🥩 it’s really yammy 😋 when i was in China 🇨🇳 i eat sandwich 🥪 dog meat omg it’s really yammy I don’t joke you must try it bro 😍❤️
I once got stuck in China during the Chinese New Year and since all the shops were closed and the city seemed completely dead, I had to survive on canned food and rice cooked in a cheap rice cooker. Canned mushrooms and other stuff with spicy sauces were indeed unedible, but most of the canned fish was surprisingly good. And beans were also nice, I guess even the Chinese can't mess the canned beans up :D
What is this strange crack my husband has turned me onto?! Just two days, and I'm 30 videos in, bought a shirt, and can't stop saying, "Nice!" I've never equated MREs with enlightenment before, but darn it, I'm sold.
I watched another MRE reviewer and I have come to really enjoy these reviews. Steve is very critical of each of the MRE he reviews. Lots of details really give the viewer a great idea on what he is experiencing. Love this
My friend used to serve in PLA and he said nobody eats those flameless self-heating meals at all. Instead, they have dedicated food truck equipped with some really nice kitchen equipment and a dozen cooks for every company. He did spend most of his time deployed in the Southern borders so that could be one of the reasons.
So they only eat those only when they are in mission?and glad i heard that, well i am not china citizen but knowing a soldier eat that crap the worst mre between all mre around the world make me feel hurt
it is not that terriable to be honest, the food is quite decent and the price is fairly cheap, i ate a lot this shit during my days back in homeland in hiking.
To be fair, certain bases/provinces/countries DO take recycling extremely seriously, even with regard to MRE’s. Spam is actually super popular in Asia after American GIs brought it in WWII. And yknow, it was food in a time where there wasn’t a lot of food. Hawaiian and Japanese food have spam sushis, and I know Chinese people like to eat it with rice.

Hey Steve, re the green noodles: the last time I ordered something that looked like that, it was because a caterpillar was in the beef and broccoli. The green guts had leeched into the meat.
Yeah that pound cake. Nah. It looked like it was still in a wrapper. Maybe it was a waxy case you were supposed to somehow peel off? Kinda like the babybel cheese. Steve, I’d like to see you review a fine dining tasting menu. Would you enjoy that, or do you prefer covering military rations? You describe textures and tastes in great detail, thanks.
That's our afternoon tea between Airsoft games, reasonable priced and easy to purchase. Good stuff, keep it up Please don't act like this food is too artificial, we can trace each package to its original factory, so it's at least safe to eat.
Great videos and awesome comments as usual.. once again it's 2am and I'm watching Steve eat mre' s instead of sleeping even tho I work in a few hours lol

Easily the best part of Christmas
Hey right on Rob. Hope you have an awesome New Year!
I can imagine him eating a real meal with his family or something.
“Okay let me just get this spaghetti onto a tray”
*puts spaghetti on a plate
“Nice”
Personally this ration reminds me of the UN 2000 ration, too much Is dedicated to the main resulting in the other components being tiny.
Dude instant sub, you got this Bob Ross way of explaining the meals. I'm hooked
Gosh! That is so amazing and original! No one ever says that about Steve, and no one says it in every one of his videos’ comments section. How did you come up with that? It’s so great, please do tell. You are one clever, clever girl to come up with that all by yourself!
I've just found this channel, and your videos are.. Weirdly mesmerising. And make me hungry.
Steve, I’d like to see you review a fine dining tasting menu. Would you enjoy that, or do you prefer covering military rations? You describe textures and tastes in great detail, thanks.
Good lord it would be depressing to be out in the field fighting a war and pop this open for dinner.
selanfene This is luxury food in China.
Albert Giesbrecht no it isn't, I literally live in China.
selanfene I apologize for my snarky comment.
What, you wouldn't be happy to see 3 1/4 slices of peach?

He tries to be fair, no matter what he’s eating - from any culture. It’s a great attribute!
I’m obsessed with these videos!

Better then the last Chinese MRE he did.
Yeah, woa, that thing was literally STEAMING.
That's our afternoon tea between Airsoft games, reasonable priced and easy to purchase. Good stuff, keep it up
Please don't act like this food is too artificial, we can trace each package to its original factory, so it's at least safe to eat.
Great videos and awesome comments as usual.. once again it's 2am and I'm watching Steve eat mre' s instead of sleeping even tho I work in a few hours lol
3:31 , the spoon sounds like a old android notification tone
Let's get that radioactive red pound cake and spamrolls onto a tray.....(insert sarcasm in comments)
