    This is such a great idea, I bought a drinking fountain for my cat before and the pump started failing cause our water was too hard, so this is a cheap and easy way to make a cat fountain. Thankyou.

    thank you so much for the link to the water pump. I want to make my own fountain and didnt know what type of pump to buy, and the ones i could find were overpriced compared to the 8$ it would take to get the same one you got.

    Thanks for the tutorial! I bought a pump which died at 3 months. Now I’ll make my own and when the pump fails I will just get a new one, but not have to throw away the bowl itself. Also thanks for the voltage safety tip!

    Only negative side effect is if the power goes out water is in the bottom of the pot, pump stops working.

    Many thanks. Cats need running water as the may not see a water bowl. Also, cats are suspicious of still water, as it may be stagnant.🇬🇧👍

    I'm an electrician, all wall outlets are rated at 120v enough to give an alarming shock, but not enough to kill a cat with any breaker your house has. Just saying cause the amazon description isn't always truthful and want to educate people on how this works.

    • @thebeardedcraftsmandiy7726
      @thebeardedcraftsmandiy7726  10 месяцев назад

      Let me explain: i meant to a case where a cat is chewing the cable or the cable get's exposed and the cat touch it. a usb cable is only capable of 5v, because the re-voltage is being made at the outlet adapter from 220V to USB (5V). a pump which goes directly to the water pump with no lowering the voltage that's the thing that makes me worry.

      mostly because plastic is very easy to manipulate & design on big industries - that doesn't makes it safe though!

    • @thebeardedcraftsmandiy7726
      @thebeardedcraftsmandiy7726  4 года назад +3

      you can skip the tape part and let gravity do her thing, with that said - if you have a clumbsy cat, i would recommend to tape it anyway - it should not touch the water at all anyways

    If you really want clean water for your pet that will never have bacteria or hard water build-up, just put distilled water in it. Stays pure and stays clean. I keep water from tap in a dispenser and distilled water in another one--she always chooses the distilled. She will be age 20 this year no health problems! Distilled water keeps kidney problems away too since the hard water rock substance doesn't lodge inside the kidneys.

    • @hnktbt
      @hnktbt 2 года назад +6

      respectfully, for anyone who sees this in the future: please do NOT give your cats distilled water! distilled water is acidic whereas a cat’s body is alkaline and giving them this increases risk of urinary infections and related conditions. and because the water doesn't have electrolytes and minerals like potassium, the water will essentially leach these minerals from the cat to stay at a state of parity causing sodium and potassium deficiency, which for the record can occur in humans the same way. we NEED electrolytes to have water flow correctly from place to place in our bodies and cats cannot easily get enough in their diet, it is supposed to come in their water already as it naturally does. i don't mean to sound like an internet vet but one person saying their cat is anecdotally fine doesn't mean yours will be. no senselessly sick cats.

      @@venusxcharlie just... water 😅 (depending on your area) you may know whether your tap water is safe or not, bottled, etc. just as long as it isn't distilled.

    Honestly, my 20 bucks 2,5 Volt water foutain from BPA free plastic is cheaper than that cooking pot XD plus it stays very clean since it has a filter.
    I don't know if I would like to have a plastic straw and tape in/close to my water fountain + the fact that it's not easy to clean every few days.

    • @NightmareRex6
      @NightmareRex6 2 месяца назад

      yea id say do some modifications suck as putting screens on all the drain holes and making a cut for lid to easily slide onto the pot and be able to removed so dont have to take off tape or hot glue every cleaning becuase its more like ever few days you gonna have to clean it. wish i had the tools to do it.

    • @thebeardedcraftsmandiy7726
      @thebeardedcraftsmandiy7726  4 года назад

      dying still is more complicated than that from my experience. what makes life easier is an epoxy paint or any primer which can bond with steel. not sure that the regular paint spray will cover without a proper primer layer
