This is something special in my mind. Around 2007 (maybe?) we had a high school trip to Estonia (to small town in Lääne-Virumaa, near'ish to Rakvere) where Arts Group had a kinda pop-up style gallery set up and Music Group had "big" concert. While the concert line-up had several Estonian Eurovision favorites, this swept the floor with everything and everyone. They even liked our "wild card" bilingual cover of this where the guy and girl changes languages between Finnish and Estonian when verses changed (always FIN/EST pair).. I can't never forget seeing the local Big-Wigs from the county and local academy literally weep with joy and almost beg for encores SEVERAL TIMES just to hear both of these again, we/they ended up performing this like 4 or 5 times that evening! It was clear that this song holds something really special with the Estonian folks! Also, our Music and Arts Teaches (who all had had some.. ummh.. "refreshment beverages"..) and Driver (who's had a "long evening" already.) took our Bus to a ride around the town and ended up almost ruining the lawn of our host academy BUT maybe I should've been silent about that part.. Woops. (Sorry!)
The World remember this song after 23 years! We remember "Goodbye to Yesterday" from 2015, "Kuula" from 2012 and "Rändajad" from 2009 too. Estonia got 3.-th place in 2002, 1.-th place in 2001, 4.-th place in 2000 and 6.-th place in 1999.
I started to find Estonian a beautiful language from Eurovision, the first one I listened to was 2013 entry Et Uus Saaks Alguse. There have been so many masterpieces among the entries in Estonian when I tracked the older contests. I learnt the Estonian pronunciation to be able to sing Et Uus Saaks Alguse last year

i saw and heard this the last time i was 3. its the first eurovision song that i can visually remember (well, partially. i remember the beads, green bg effects, the faces of the performers and the opening measures)
+Orion Barb altar Estonian and Hungarian are both of the Finno-Ugric branch of the uralic languages. The difference between the languages is somewhat similar to the difference between e.g English and Russian or English and Hindi. A few words are similar, and the overall type of grammar is similar. But due to loanwords (germanic,swedish, some baltic and slavic in estonian, turkish, slavic, german in hungarian) the vocabularies are very different.
Always loved this track. But, someone went crazy with the newly discovered computer graphics!!! Whooooo! And, why pair Maarja-Liis with that old bloke - would have preferred an attractive younger man - so would Maarja-Liis I think!
