  • Kicking off with The Fifth Season this series packs a punch at every corner. Truly I have never read anything like it and my reread this year was a total joy!

I love Jemisin. She can bring up real world oppression to her books and do it really well without sounding preachy. Like when someone didn't see the Orogenese as human so there's no point to arguing with them... No matter how compliant the Orogenese in question is they want them dead. Also book two starts with dedication "to those who have no choice but to prepare their children to the battlefield" It struck home for me.
I am yet to read book three.

I love these videos. I read the trillogy translated to Romanian and I am looking forward to do a re-read in English. Now I think I am ready for her other works ( except the New York series).

    Hi Judith!
I’m a new viewer of your channel and I am enjoying your content greatly.
I hear what you’re saying about YA and the mental muscle exercise that some adult High Fantasy can require.
But I really like the way Ursula Le Guin describes what YA is to her when she was first writing ‘A Wizard of Earthsea’, I think it’s written into the foreword of the anniversary editions if your interested. Can’t say enough good things about Ursula Le Guin
