      DL2 just needs time to actually catch up in content, and I personally think the gameplay mechanics are far superior to the original game. Small QoL changes are needed (gore, physics, etc) but other than that I really don't see too much of a problem with gameplay mechanics.

      This may be coming from DLSS or FSR upscaling options. Especially DLSS has tendency to be oversharpend when it's not implemented correctly, like in RDR2 or God of War (they patched it for the latter, fortunately, and included DLSS Sharpness slider in last update).

    • @MJung-zu2vq
      @MJung-zu2vq 2 года назад +4

      I think the real problem is how u traverse the city, not the abscence of volatiles. Movement speed is too fast, there is no contact with infected because you are always on the rooftops, and the glider made it all even less scary. You could just skip most of the map, and the only time there was a little bit of danger was when you had to get down to complete a mission. In dying light 1, you were in constant danger not only when you arrived at the mission, but also on the way there. Seeing volatiles is too rare in dying light 2 as well, I only saw them in the tv antenna mission and in the last mission, and even those times you didn't have to fight any volatile, you could just sneak past them easily.

      @peste2574 2 года назад +12

      @@imfam8838 Well, my experience is regarding console gameplay. I only played a few hours (6 at best, maybe a little more).
      For starters, the tutorial (the first 2-3 hours of the game) is very badly paced. Lots of unnecessary cutscenes, and it also takes too long. The only good part for me was the introduction of the guy from the bazar (whose name I already forgot, lol).
      Secondly, I`m not a fan of the combat. I played on Normal, and it was really way too easy. Most zombies die with a few hits from the weakest stuff you get, as do people. Most of the combat animations Aiden are also very odd. I`m never sure when something is going to hit or not, it`s definitely a downgrade from Dying Light 1 (and maybe even Dead Island, but it has been a while that I played it). I really hated the combat and enemies.
      Combat with humans is also very easy. In the first game they would dodge and counter attack, and sometimes even run away or rush you when you were healing. They would also throw stuff at you when you were far away.
      From what I`ve seen, that shit is gone. Now most of the combat with people resume to them slowly walking around you, and maybe they`ll hit you. Very, very boring, and you also get one of the strongest moves of the game right at the beginning as well. In DL1 they were also very tanky (which lots of people complain about, but at the start of DL1 you had shitty weapons with bad stats), but in DL2 they are very weak.
      The hud for me is bad, as is the x-ray vision. I also don`t like the inventory system, but atleast now it actually pauses the game as you use it. It certainly is an improvement from DL1, but even then, that isn`t saying much.
      To me, the biggest kick in the nuts is the parkour. Aiden is slow as heck, and when you pair it with the fact that you have a stamina bar for climbing (of which aiden also does very, VERY fucking slowly), it makes it very boring. Oh, did I mention that you share the stamina bar for climbing with fighting?
      Yup, that`s right. It is fucking horrible. Terrible game design. Even tarkov implemented two bars for different actions (which is much more reallistic).
      I don`t care what they say about it, the parkour is definitely WORSE. I find it much harder to do free running. Aiden can`t decide if he jumos too short, or too far. There also seems to be a delay between pressing to climb and jump stuff and actually doing it, and that totally shits on the experience. I really, really hate the parkour on this.
      Aiden plays like a guy who is perpetually drunk. I cannot do fine movement with him as I could with Crane. The floatiness is bad all, but the together with all the other complains I have, it just makes it all very boring, tiresome, and annoying.
      Man, I just realized I never wrote this much before for reviewing a game, so let me finish this up with saying that these youtubers are either deaf, blind, or being paid to be so, because this game has so many basic game design problems that I cannot believe they don`t see it.
      I started it out giving it a fair chance with low espectations and I still came out disappointed with how the game turned out, and that is saying something.

    Part of Dying Light 2's zombie issue is more so related to the fact that they're not a new threat anymore, they've become an environmental hazard due to years of humans adapting and surviving against them. It was different in the first game because it was a new virus and people were figuring out ways to stop them. Now in 2, everyone knows how to deal with them. The same thing happened with The Walking Dead, they become less dangerous as people figured out ways to keep them at bay or stop them completely. But still, the first game is better. In 1, Zombies were the threat, in 2 it's the other way around.

    Really disappointed that they toned down the darkness at night and how it’s no longer as threatening or arse clenching getting chased at night. That’s what made the first game for me, yet they said people complained it was too hard. I don’t believe that. I’ve never heard or read anyone saying it was too hard at night in the first game. NOT ONCE. They just did it to be more accessible to a wider, younger audience. Essentially dumbing the game down. So many companies do this and it loses its flavour and one of the things that made the first game so memorable. It just waters down the experience. I still love the game but that’s just my opinion. I don't want to feel eye strain for playing a stupid fucking game... I don't want end up using glasses because of some stupid fucking game... fuck that shit

    The gore response mechanics are so underwhelming. Really expected better after replaying Dead Island and Dying Light (the first game) again. No wound decals on the body, no blood pools/blood puddles forming around the ground while zombies walking with severed limbs (only after death), no wound variations, just overall so disappointing for a game where you expect a nice gory mess similar or better to the previous games. The game is still solid and a decent play, but it just fails so hard in the gore department in my opinion. Left 4 Dead 2 back in 2009 did it so much better almost 13 years ago and the previous games also did it a lot better. What a shame. I guess that is what you get when you want to cater to Germany and Austria so your game won't get censored, ridiculous.

I enjoy dead Island much more then this. I don't need parkour gimmicks. I need more suspension of disbelief. The environment feels like something out of ninja warrior TV show, so unrealistic imho. I don't mind *some* parkour where appropriate but when every effen building is copy pasted with trampolines, skater rails, I lose immersion. And don't get me started on the boring gear treadmill and rpg elements that are almost exclusively parkour focused. If I want to play a parkour game, I'll play mirrors edge or something.

      @NoahDaArk 2 года назад +14

      Might be because unlike Cyberpunk, we barely heard anything about Dying Light 2. No news or updates, just radio silence. Which I think was for the best.
      It helped the team focus on making a *good* game rather then trying to match the unrealistic demands and hype that would have most certainly happened if the game was constantly being advertised!
      Same thing happened with Lost Soul Aside. The developers went radio silent for a good few years not because production was in trouble (in fact the game has had a smooth production apparently), but because they didn’t want to be strangled by overblown expectations. And honestly I think all game developers need to start doing this: go dark for a bit, focus on the game and making it the best thing ever, and *then* start the hype train.
      Because if you start the hype train before the bridge if finished, then you’re gonna end up crashing right into a ravine.

    Dying light 1 is a far superior game in most ways.
    1's Graphics are less cartoony and more immersive, especially nighttime and dark areas. Dying light 2 just looks extremely goofy and over the top compared to 1.
    The combat in 2 just feels bad. Feels like it's straight out of elder scrolls with how your weapon phases right through enemies, instead of recoiling off enemies like in 1. It's far more arcadey and stiff compared to 1, which was unique and offered challenge. 2 doesn't have grappling with enemies, no slow mo when chopping off limbs, no takedowns when stunned, etc.
    Parkour in dying light 2 feels weirdly floaty . Parkour in 1 wasn't perfect, but at least it didn't feel like Crane was jumping on the moon. Also climbing objects takes stamina unlike the first game, which makes the first few hours feel like a chore.
    My favorite part of 1 which was ruined in 2 was how dangerous night time feels. The game really sells the message that you should avoid going outdoors during the night. Not only can you not see two feet in front of you, but volatiles will rip you to shreds, ordinary zombies can mutate into virals, and even a rare enemy (the blue volatile) can show up sometimes. 2 just feels too safe and easy compared to dying light 1.
    Not a fan of 2 in all honesty.

    • @dirtyshinobii
      @dirtyshinobii Год назад

      The first point I agree with. The atmosphere in 1 was much more scary while 2 was way more bright and colorful but I mean.. 1 takes place in a poor slums area while 2 is in a massive city so its kinda understandable
      Your seocnd point I disagree with entirely. Sharp weapons are the exact same as 1, if they don't slice through and kill the enemy it just phases through, blunt weapons recoil off, just like the first. And I'm sorry, but huh? challenge in 1? All you had to do in the first one was just dodge and then hit, and repeat until the enemy is dead, especially with human enemies it was more of a chore then anything and combat in 1 got really repetitive and just boring. The only thing that made it fun was the ragdolls. In 2 enemies adapt to your combat style forcing you to switch it up and there are MUCH more combat skills and combos to do in 2 then the first. I'm sorry if you missed it, but there are grappling enemies in dl2 you just have to unlock the skill for it and they've added slow mos and X-rays in the recent update.
      The first dying light nights were awful. Don't understand why everyone says its more scary. All it is is the same exact zombies patrolling around with are blind as bats and super easy to avoid and get away from. In 2, instead of the volatiles initiating chases it's the howlers which aren't as easy to avoid since they're scattered everywhere and have a longer range of site, and once a chase starts its the most thrilling experience. Zombies jumping off rooftops and spilling out of windows on the streets below infront of you, howlers screeching at you as you run past, the sirens going off indicating that a new level of the chase has started, and then at level 3 the volatiles come in and it's just like DL1 but better. Ordinary zombies also mutate into virals in the second.

    I love this game, thing is, it is janky especially in co-op. A lot more glitches seem to occur. Fighting enemies is one, but that could also be placed on connectivity issues. Doing some of the story missions in co-op, for example when a door won't open say, breaking the mission. Even in single player I had a mission just outright dissappear off the map for me, but yet it remained in my to-do list. Found away around thankfully.
    My friend also experienced that once he'd made it to the second half of the map, he still wanted to do some things he'd missed in the first part. Once he'd fast travelled back to the the first area, he'd obviously come across a bug as there was no fast travel zone in the second area and you could not go back through the way you had done with the story itself because you were locked off at a certain point.
    Turns out (and i have to say took us an embarrsingly long time to figure out) there is a work around for it. So if you keep a mission in the second part of the map tracked, then get yourself killed (and for the love of god, do not repeatly spam the respawn button), instead choose the option to respawn by your tracked mission location, this is one of the ways to fix the issue. I have read and seen a couple of others, but either they don't work for you or they are long winded.
    My main gripe even after all that is the fact you get later parkour moves that are supposed to make the parkour better but instead mess up other aspects of said parkour. Like both the wall runs, (god damn them). Both wall runs really only come in handy in certain instances. There is one to help you reach higher points, for the most part there is usually always a ledge to grab at a lower level. The problem is it has a habbit of making your character wall run up past ledges and then proceed to have your character not grab anything while sliding down. So major pain in the ass when you're in a rush to get away from a volatile say. The other is the side wall run which is bad in istances when you want to jump from a pipe to another pipe thats on a wall, Aiden will clean run past the pipe you expect him to grab. These can be quite infuriating to say the least. Apart from these minor annoyances though the game is awesome, played around 50 hours, only really onto the second area myself. Doesn't sound like it, but I'm still having good fun with the game. With lots left to see and do.

I understand it’s 15 years after the shitshow but I wish we could’ve had more designs like the first one outside of artefact weapons. And weapons are so hard to find early game, either being bought or mission rewards. I do miss just being able to run around and open chests to get loads of weapons and test them all out on a huge horde.
