    Yeah Guys! I have been using humor to get better results for years thanks to Andrew's first TEDEX talk. I love how he and Dave have expanded to add more detail to the humor picture.

    Fun talk and makes you think. I am definitely like your mom. My kids can always pick out my laugh when they perform in plays. 😂 But I also like to create my own humor - off the cuff remarks, dry comments, puns, humorous writing. My husband and kids like to create humor too. Friends who visit for dinner often end up doubled over in laughter. Makes for a fun time!

    I would say my humor is a mix between dry humor, and just pure silliness. I find myself randomly laughing about silly thoughts or silly memories or silly what-if scenarios. I also love to joke around with people in a sarcastic way. Or I joke around with people as a way to challenge them. For example, if there’s a talent show about to happen, I’ll say, “I’m not performing this year though unfortunately.” I’m trying to really say, “you know I’m going to be showing off my talent.” But I’m doing it in a way to challenge them.

    Love this talk! Can you be a mix of 2? 🤔I think I am an inventor because I like to pull pranks on people. For example, I made my students in college believe I was one of them on the first day of class. Their reactions were priceless, and they got me back so good 3 months later when I read my evaluations rating me as "the worst French class they had ever taken", I taught Spanish. I also think I am a curator because I HAVE to share funny things with others.

      You absolutely can be a mix of 2 and that's what we encourage. You can learn how to use all of them effectively, which it sounds like you're already doing :)

    I like mixing humor styles. I like taking those things that have made me laugh in the past and mix them with what I'm experiencing now. I also like to write down funny one-liners I hear people say. I've found some really good gems that inspire my creative process later on.

    why insist that one is unscripted, if he's just going to be scripted? and for 10 minutes of talking about humor, not really funny...

    I did not like this talk, because ultimately funny people are funny, and they don't have to think about the different styles/approaches they are using, or could potentially adopt. And then on the flip side, unfunny people are not funny, and whilst they could occasionally say or do something that is funny, ultimately they will never be funny and they won't be receptive to jokes or funny situations. There is no amount of "studying" humour they can do that will make them so.

    • @drewtarvin
      @drewtarvin 3 месяца назад

      I fully believe that anyone can learn to be funnier. If you're "unfunny," you can learn basic joke structure or how to improve your delivery which will help things you say land. Plus I did learn how to be funny (at least to some people, not everyone).

    • @PhantomKaratOfficial
      @PhantomKaratOfficial 3 месяца назад

      @@drewtarvin I disagree - I used to work with someone who did stand up on the side, and whilst undoubtably he understood joke structure, he was fundamentally not funny.
      It's not like learning a foreign language.
