Here's the problem, I have to clean the inside of the head. It has accumulated powder from the bathroom and dust. I take a qtip and can get all except the clear inside of the head. You should really show how to clean the head a little better than just pulling the roller out. Thank you
Thank you, Katie!! Very helpful as this is my first Dyson. So many times caught myself saying out loud, "OH!" as I watched your video. You made things so simple. Btw - lovely voice!
And how do you clean the actual attachment? Not the brushes, the grey part. How do you get under the small plastic parts? Can you rinse under the tap to get it all out even the motor parts?
Dyson should really consider a washable head unit. I have terrible dust mite allergies, and knowing I’m not dragging dirty parts across clean surfaces would be nice.
I clean the filter most every use. Rather than always washing it, I use my old vac to vacuum the outside of the filter Then I wash it less often. I keep a spare filter so when I DO wash the one on the machine, I don't use it again for days. LOVE this machine. It pulls the finest dust out my nice carpets and NEVER pulls carpet fibers out.
All well and good to clean the brushes, but the head itself gets very dirty and is hard to reach some areas, also hairs gets rolled up and stuck in parts of the head, impossible to remove. Not a very good design to keep your heads clean. Very disappointed considering how expensive this thing is,had it for a month and it is already filthy inside and no way to clean it out
Thank you Katie!! Great video. Can you demonstrate how easily to take off and put on the arm? I always struggle with it, I am sure there is a hack about it that an old woman like me can't work it out. Thank you
We purchased a Dyson V11 Outsize on December 17, 2020 and on Jan 18, 2021, a screw fell out of the rotating mechanism for the beater brush. We determined the place that the screw came out of but it is in a place that is not possible to get to, so we are unable to replace it ourselves. I have tried resolving the issue online and by phone with customer service for the past 5 days and have not been successful in actually communicating with anything other than automated responses. We have sent videos to show the problem as well. We are concerned that the loss of the screw will eventually hurt the integrity of the rotating mechanism and we will lose the cleaner head.
Hi! Aside from the rollers, how do we clean the body of the high torque attachment? Can we also wash it with water? Or just moist rug/tissue? Thank you
I didn't know you had to clean the filter once a month until I saw this video. What if you haven't? Do I need to replace the filter with a new one? Is it fine to just wash and lightly rub the filter and just do better in the future?
You should be ok. I would recommend soaking your filter in cold water if it hasn't been washed in awhile. This can help remove anything microscopic on the inside. Once done soaking, (20 minutes or so is good), you can rinse well in cold water, shaking out the excess. You will want to ensure that the filter is done dry before fitting that back in your machine. It can take a minimum of 24 hours to dry but if you're in a more humid climate, it may take up to 72 hours.
Hi. I just wanted to say how very much I appreciate this video. It's simple to understand and here right to the point. That young lady sounds a bit Irish to me. That's cool since I'm 46% Irish & 48% UK? (other 6% is Finnish) Thank you so much! Candy Wiley ( I'm Robert's wife).

Hi there, I used a wet pair brush to clean the the main brush cap - I am a bit concerned if I have damaged the inner part, that one which it’s looks like a motor? I left it dry completely. But shall I worry about it ?
Unfortunately if you get any funky odors up in the tube in the dust bin you can’t clean it. I’m surprised Dyson didn’t consider if it accidentally runs over for example, pet urine, and gets sucked up in there. While you can clean the extension tube and the head you cannot clean the last piece of tube that is in the dustbin. So now have an odor every time you vacuum.
The cleaner head shouldn't be dismantled any further than shown in our video guide, as this could cause damage not covered under your machine's guarantee. You should be able to wipe the inside of the cleaner head casing with a damp (not wet) cloth to remove any clinging debris. But as long as the airways are clear, any fine dust on the inside of the casing will just be cosmetic and shouldn't impact performance.
Hi I love my Dyson V11. I am wandering how to put the little couch cleaner head back together it doesnt have a slot on it anywhere to undo. I have managed to get it apart and cleaned it but cannot get it back together.
We'd recommend either contacting the Dyson helpline in your country directly, using a live chat service on the Dyson website if available, or sending us a DM via Facebook, Instagram or Twitter/X: @ AskDyson.
So what I got from this is make sure everything's completely dry before putting it back in 😂🤣. The actual area of parts you want to clean (torque head clear plastic, inside the wands) from accumulated crud is nowhere to be seen. The only way to do this is practically dismantling the whole thing before you can remove the part you want to clean (like everything Dyson). Oh, but most people can't because they use torque screws to stop you from doing that.
Is there a way to remove and clean the tiny wheels? I have long hair and pet hair etc that gets tightly wound in all wheels. I had to pop out the wheels on my previous amazon brand one but these look harder to DIY remove.
The video helpful however I highly recommend you add a very important piece of information regarding putting back the parts after you clean them. I left them over night out to dry and when I went to put them back onto the cylinders I slide the soft floor one onto the wrong cylinder (which look almost identical) and it got stuck on there and I could t pull it off. I have tried everything and now I have to purchase not one but two replacement parts for this very expensive vacuum that I love. Im so bummed and can’t believe it downs come off and can’t believe this was not mentioned.
Hi Christopher, thanks for getting in touch. Yes it would need to be completely dry. You should leave your filter to dry for at least 24 hours. Please send us a DM via Twitter, Instagram or Facebook if you require any further assistance.
My 2020 brand new V11 Outsize model does not have the red button shown at 4:01. I had body unit shipped to replece mine because the bin door did not open and now I'm discovering I have no idea how to remove the clear bin because I don't have the red button shown in every single video. Technically it opened fine the first two times then the door stopped opening. Now I have a $400 replacement part and no idea how to remove the clear bin.
Thank you, The Soft Roller head also has a soft micro cloth type fiber to be gentle on the hard surface flooring. This is what makes the Soft Roller Cleanerhead so beneficial. It will have a wider/taller opening to capture the debris that sits on the top of the flooring vs in the fibers of the carpet. The soft roller cleaner head is designed specifically for cleaning non-carpeted surfaces. With the soft nylon and anti-static carbon filament brush bar the soft roller head can pick large debris and remove the fine layer of dust all at the same time. If you have a good amount of bare floors in your home the soft roller cleaner head is a must-have. This should only be used on dry surfaces not with water or any liquid.
Wondering exactly what coin did you use for main heads like fluffy and motorised ones? I can't find a UK coin that allows this to open, they just dent the plastic. Also when the clear plastic is dirty, how do you clean once the brush part is removed? The main rod part gets in the way to clean around it. Its been botheing me for months. Never looks clean as just cant get a cloth in there. Other than that, we are happy with our hoover. Thanks. X
We would recommend a 10 pence coin which allows you to get a good grip to twist the cap. Unfortunately, there is no easy to way to clean the inside of the motorhead. You will need to clean as much as you can on the sections you can reach.
Hi! I've washed the fluffy roller under running tap water however i found that when it dried, the carbon fibre black bristles were stiff and stuck flat. Is this normal?

Removing the brush using a coin is the easy part . Can the torque body be cleaned by removing any other parts
It can be wiped down with a damp cloth and air dried. No other parts are required to be removed to clean the cleanerhead.
Dyson needs to bring out a wet & dry hard floor cleaner like Bissell dose! With Dyson's digital motors it would make a powerful wet & dry cleaner!
