In my opinion both of these are a must have. The xr is one of my fav polymer guns. This and the hk vp9. The platypus is an awesome gun and very unique.
I have changed my mind of shadow systems. I still like them but for me, I would rather have a Glock. Preferably 19X with some adjustments like adding s beaver tail. I just trust Glock way more than shadow systems. After all, it shadows the Glock hence the name.
@@a.d.c7941 I gotcha. You def have to go with what you are more comfortable. To me the ss is a better gun and I have not had 1 problem with the 3 that I own. They have taken a good platform and added better features.
Found your channel as I was looking at getting a Platypus. Great review and videos. Curious on your opinion of the Platypus vs. the DS9? Is the peformance difference worth the price difference? Have an Atlas and a Pheonix Trinity, but wanted to get a Platypus for a range toy, so would love your input. P.S., love you C8
Thank you sir! I love the car as well. :) Personally, I would not worry about a DS9 with the others you mentioned you have. (However, I do not think the guns you mentioned are a performance difference over the DS9 for the price difference. I have had 2 of one of the brands you mentioned and would not buy them over the DS9, because of the price difference. Just wasn't worth it to me.) I def would look into the Platypus to have something different. The gun just runs! Can't beat it for the money. Thanks again.
How is the stealth for carry? I’m leaning towards this. I carry a full size Glock 40 now. I know it’s a little heavier and I’m okay with that. Just interested in your thoughts.
To be honest with you , I have the commander size and would be fine with it. It does not feel that heavy. I have not had any experience with the full size.
Debating on the platypus with bull barrel vs xr920p for work. Sold my dr920 for aluminum frame staccato p and hated it because of the mags and i personally think staccato is over priced. Using a stock Glock for work right now. Until I decide. The platypus seems very well built and now having Glock mags make me have peace and mind cause the department issues out glocks so all the mags can be used in it. But they don’t offer a replacement if you get into a shooting liken shadow systems does
Oh man. Decisions. Decisions. You can't go wrong with either. I bought the Plat to replace my XR920 for indoor competitions because I prefer the 1911 style trigger over all others. (However, most of my carry guns are not 1911 style guns.) My XR920 is now in my carry rotation. The Platypus has really been put to the side as my local range stopped their indoor matches. The Plat would be in the carry rotation had I not put a Nitro Fin thumb rest on it. No matter what decision you make, I don't believe you are going to regret it. There just is no bad decision between the two.
I’ve never been happy with my shadow systems, it’s just me, not talking bad. The platypus is nice! I just picked it up, only about 300 rounds through it. My staccato is just, awe-some!!!!!!!! In my opinion. I have the C2 limited with comp, XC, and the CS. I’m not a fan boy. But it like cheating. I still carry my Glock.
Now that they have the bull barrel and new grip frame, I was about to order a basic black model but there is a 16 week wait for the Platypus. Still teetering on whether to get the longer version or shorter and carry optics. Would you prefer the longer barrel version for competition shooting always?
To be honest, I would only prefer the longer barrel for uspsa competitions where targets can be a little farther out. The indoor idpa that I do, has closer targets. (This is why I got the commander version.) I usually try to use carry size guns for the idpa matches.
@@bluepstu9009 Thanks for the info. I’ll be entering outdoor matches for the first time this year with my CZ Shadow and want a Platypus because I really like the feel of them and want to see if I can do any better with it than my CZ.

I definitely enjoy them both!
I'm a 1911/2011 guy, but will admit the VP9 series is great! And I hate striker fired pew pews.

I love that you have had zero issues. I use to own the xr920 and the dr920. Xr is my favorite out of ss line. I love that they are made in Texas too.

Thanks for the quick response! Just noticed you had a c7. Nice!
@@raywang6528Yes sir. The c7 had to go to make way for the c8. :)
