Easy way to Wet Tumble Brass
Просмотров 252 месяца назад
It is way easier to wet tumble your brass than what some companies suggest. I use a spoonful of lemi shine and tumble for only 30 minutes. I then put a few drops of jet dry and let it tumble for one minute. (Keeps spots off the brass.) No more dry tumbling for me! #hornady #wet tumbling #cleaning brass

Just a quick shooting comparison. I know one has a dot and the other doesn't. However, that does not affect the grouping of each gun. As you can see, they are both accurate guns. Which one shoots flatter and has less recoil? Thank you
I do love my DS9 but the XC is flatter with less recoil.
Wow... It seems the DS9 was winning until the last... I guess it depends on the shooter... I wonder if ports will help, I forgot to mention that the DS9 I ordered will be coming with barrel porting. 😎
I love both but the Apache is flatter and when i am practicing the double taps with speed are def tighter than the DS9. I would like to try a DS9 with barrel porting.
@@bluepstu9009 One thing I've learned and that is Physics varies among humans..! 😎
My ds9 is ported, and it's a dream to shoot!
Good video bruh,,, I thought about the Apache until I gathered more and more info and research decided on the Phoenix Trinity H-TAC. I am waiting for my MPA DS9 now had to change my order from stainless/black to all black because they were having issues with rust on the stainless so they no longer offer stainless, bummer... 😎
Gotcha. Don't think you can go wrong with any or the three.
Hey guy I really like tunning in to watch your videos but if you could get us better shots on the objects it would make a big difference on viewing for me anyway... Thank you bruh. 😎
I will def try that. Thanks for the feedback. That is what I need to hear.
Your 100% correct 👍
What gas pedal is that?
Nitro fin by shooting sports innovations.
Poo view?
Maybe when I first got it but not now. :)
Does your MPA DS have any wiggle in the slide to frame fit?
No sir
Is your MPA ported?
The slide has ports but the barrel doesn't.
That TLR7 on the XC looks so dumb 🤣 why no X300?
Don't know. Belongs to a friend. To each his own.
Please post a video on how to disassemble and reassemble the Apache.
It really is very simple. I have put some loctite on various parts so i don't want to break it down again. However, here is a link to a video of both on another 2011 that I used in the past. Hope this helps. ruclips.net/video/J4Y0I-phMY4/видео.html
@@bluepstu9009 Thanks
@@bluepstu9009 One more question pls., how do I remove or uninstall the magwell? I'm not sure if it's a screw or a pin.
@@BingV-vj1nc Not a problem. You push the pin in from the left side to the right. Use a punch tool or something. Let me know if you need anything else.
@@bluepstu9009Thank you very much.. I'm going to try to install the overtravel screw. It came without one
Its crazy how there are so many different "experiences" with these guns. My trigger is great. No grittiness, and not sure of the pull weight. Much lighter than my Staccato P, but not as light as my CZ TSO, and TSO2, which are supposedly sub 2lb, and the best I've ever felt. Trigger is very similar to my P226 X5 Legion which is my favorite gun of all. I do have the original grip which is a bummer. I'd like to see Watchtower cut a good deal for us to have them replaced with the newer version. All that said, I do have a problem that has happened about 7 times now. Sometimes the spent shell doesn't eject all of the way out. Its not stuck in the chamber like your issue, it just doesn't get ejected all of the way. I have reached out to Watchtower and will be sending it back to them soon. I was hoping a little break in and cleaning would make it go away but that hasn't been the case. Its a bummer their QC is not better, but once issues are sorted they are real nice guns.
Just a heads up that if you contact Watchtower , they will replace and give you a new grip. In regards to the spent casing, I guarantee it is the extractor. This is an easy fix that you can take care of.
@@bluepstu9009 How?
@@rockie071 If you are talking the extractor, it just has to be removed and bent a little. Depending on if it is too tight or too loose depends on which way you need to bend it. Here is a link for how Atlas gunworks. They have a few videos on it. ruclips.net/video/COv5BtKxQMI/видео.html
Does the slide to frame fit have any wiggle?
No sir. Not at all. (I am assuming you are asking about the MPA. There is some on the XC.)
I have a ds9 hybrid coming next month.I got the stainless and black. It is the aluminum grip though.I'll probably get an extended mag release for it also.Which holster and belt set up do you have, i am going to shoot uspsa with it?. Thanks for any help you can give me.Looks like you can get some fast double taps with it.
I just use an inner/outer belt system from shooting sports innovations. I use the double alpha x holster system with an insert for a 2011/Staccato firearm. Good luck to you. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any more questions.
@@bluepstu9009 appreciate it!.
Was at a gun show today trying out some Staccatos for ergonomics (I have large hands - so finding a right proper 9mm has not been easy), they felt a bit small but the slide on the XC was amazing. Dealer shows me the DS9. First thing I do is check the slide. Wow. It felt smoother than the XC and when I had it in my hands, I felt like I was locked in especially with the way the bottom of my hand rested against the magwell, but not hanging over it. It was def a little more than I was planning on spending (was originally looking at Staccato P). So I’m doing my research first. How long have you owed the DS9? And aside from the initial hiccups you mentioned, have you had any failures or issues since? Is it finicky with any ammo or does it just blow through everything? Thanks so much! Ps. The Platypus is exceptional, but the grip was way too short and small in my hands :/
The DS 9 is a great gun for the money. I haven't really had any more issues and I hear that the newer ones are being made even better than the earlier ones. All ammo has worked, even the reloads. I def don't regret the purchase. However, I just got the Watchtower Apache and if it stays reliable, I think it may be my favorite gun yet. Will being doing a review and comparison video on it as well.
I am 15 saving up for a c4 Corvette i dont think there is mutch competition
In my opinion both of these are a must have. The xr is one of my fav polymer guns. This and the hk vp9. The platypus is an awesome gun and very unique.
I definitely enjoy them both!
Sounds awesome, Man! I am curious as to what your plate stands for. I have a C7 ZR1 and mine says CRAZR1.
Ha. I got people guessing all the time. Shortened version of "BLUE PAST YOU."
@@bluepstu9009 Love it! Mine gets read different ways, and those who don’t know what a ZR1 is don’t get it until I explain it. 💪🇺🇸
@@doughooks7411 Yeah man. You got a good one!
Hi there and thanks for the great video man. I'm looking to get a platipus commander size with the competition trigger. Have you had any issues firing certain ammo with the 10 pound spring. I definitely want to cut down on the recoil as much as possible. I also plan to add a Valkyrie Dynamics muzzle break comp to it.
No issues whatsoever. Even on day 1 with the stock spring, it fed my reloads which are not quite as hot as factory ammo. That is pretty impressive. If you are adding a comp to it, you def may want to go with a lighter spring if trying reloads, but you should be fine with factory ammo no matter what spring. Good luck!
@bluepstu9009 Thanks for your input man. My goal is to modify it so it feels like I'm shooting a .22. Hopefully after breaking it in, I can get the trigger pull weight at sub 2 pounds like yours. I also plan to pin the grip safety down. Originally, my eyes were fixed on the Watchtower Apache @ $4,198 or the Atlas Gunworks Nyx RDS v2 @ $5,700.....but I just can't justify spending a couple mortgage payments on a handgun. LOL.
@@earlautry7999 Ha. You are def welcome. Don't hesitate to reach out should you have any questions. I actually have a watchtower apache on order. Just waiting for it to be built. However, with some of the issues that people are complaining about, I am fine with getting it later than sooner. I want to make sure all the kinks are ironed out. Will probably do a video on it after I get it.
What color combo is the indoor comp platypus?
It is Titanium and Armor Black.
What distance is the red dot zeroed at?
I usually zero everything in between 12-15 yards. The farthest distance we can shoot at that location is 73 yards and I still hit a 6 inch plate by keeping the dot right on the plate. I have found that you are not having to change your point of aim at that distance.
@@bluepstu9009thank you
Ordered my Plat two weeks ago and now have to wait 15-18 more weeks. I hope they can keep up with the demand without sacrificing quality or attention to detail. Mine was right around the $1900 mark which seems like a bargain for what you get, especially with several G17 mags already lying around…..
You are correct. It is a lot of value. With what I have experienced and read about this company, I don't think you will need to worry about sacrificing quality. When I originally ordered mine, I was told the 12-16 week wait but ended up getting mine a couple of weeks early. Probably due to the fact that mine was pretty "plain" and didn't have a bunch of "wild" color combos. I think you will be pleased.

@bluepstu9009 my DS9 will be here tomorrow! It's only been seven weeks since I ordered, I thought that was supper fast!
@@tippit1 Nice. Let me know what you think!
If you can get a hold of some Boraxo powdered hand soap (not the laundry version) you'll be impressed. It literally made the brass look more silvery as if it lightened the shade. I use about 1/4 cup in my Rebel 17 tumbler with a tiny amount of Lemi-shine. Too bad that version or Boraxo seemed to 4X in cost since 2020.
Gotcha. Thanks for the info!
Love the video. Between the platypus and the vudoo priest, which one would you pick? Thank you
Thank you! Hard decision as the price point is so different. You can almost get 2 of the Platypus. I am fortunate enough to already have a couple of the higher tier 2011 firearms so this was a no brainer for me. I just wanted a 2011 style gun that is not going to have some of the finicky problems that you see with the higher end 2011's. We all know that many of the problems with 2011 guns are the magazines but you are not going to have those same issues with the Plat. No matter what, you are not going to make a bad choice.
Thank you so much !!
What makes it such low recoil? Is it just your grip? Or have you done something internally to it?
I do have a strong grip and most of my shooting friends tell me that any gun I shoot looks like it barely moves. (Although it looks like it is all over the place to me.) I did two things that definitely cut down on the feel of recoil although it may still be moving the same. You can go from a 13lb factory recoil spring to a 10lb. I also added a nitro fin thumbrest/slide stop as I do with all of my 2011 style guns. Hope this helps!
@@bluepstu9009that slide stop was compatible?
@@seanmtak7573 You will have to modify. Check out my video that says Platypus modifications and holster. I explain what to do.
@@bluepstu9009 thank you! I would want to get a one piece guide rod also.
The new "Prickle" grip should be great. How has the finish holding up? Any experience with the 3.0-3.5Lb trigger? The comp trigger seems to come in much lighter than advertised.
Hey Jerry. In regards to the finish, I can't tell the gun has been shot. I am around 900 rounds right now. I would love to get my hands on the new grip. I am fine with the lightness of the comp trigger as it is actually a little higher than my other guns. I can't speak for others, but my comp trigger is not consistently at about 1 3/4lbs. Hope this helps.
I ordered the 3.0-3.5lb trigger on mine and it breaks at 2lb 12oz.
I was on the fence.... you answered damn near every question I had. Thank you brother.

comparing a 1700 dollar plat to a masterpiece arms is criminal lol. good video though my guy
Ha. Both great guns that are above their price point. I do admire both. However, I have had some minor issues with both of my MPA's. No issues with the Plat yet. :)
@@bluepstu9009 thats good to hear an. mine just got the slide finished. got probably another 20 weeks
What are your thoughts on the bushing barrel vs the bull barrel? They have both as options now.
To be honest, I am fine with either but it is not much more to get the bull. I am more interested in the new grips. That is making me want to get another. :)
What color did you choose for the frame? U have the color code from the website?
It is one of the preset colors you can choose. It is Titanium.
This comme t may be too late, but Stealth suggested I order color swatches from Cerakote. Which I did. 10 swatches free , just pay shipping. Which for me was $11. I gave me a more realistic expectation of color combos.

GOOD VIDEO. I own an XC as a duty gun and ive ordered a 5" platypus after shooting a buddys gun. I was impressed with the platypus enough to order within the week. Cant wait to get mine. Looking at may ish. Cheap mags are just a plus. The gun shot very well.
Thanks! Awesome. Of course, the XC is a great gun but the Platypus is just a fun one to shoot. I do love a DS 1911 /2011 but you just don't have the typical issues with the Plat like you do with the 1911/2011. It is mostly because of the reliable magazines.
Nice. I have mine on order and shoot competition as well. I currently have a staccato P with a cheely e2 grip that has a pinned grip safety that i shoot LO in. Is there any way to pin the grip safety in the Playtepus.
Thanks! I heard that it has been done. I think it is a little harder then normal because of the material but I may be wrong. There is a facebook group called the Platypus Lounge. A lot of people chime in there. Check it out!
Debating on the platypus with bull barrel vs xr920p for work. Sold my dr920 for aluminum frame staccato p and hated it because of the mags and i personally think staccato is over priced. Using a stock Glock for work right now. Until I decide. The platypus seems very well built and now having Glock mags make me have peace and mind cause the department issues out glocks so all the mags can be used in it. But they don’t offer a replacement if you get into a shooting liken shadow systems does
Oh man. Decisions. Decisions. You can't go wrong with either. I bought the Plat to replace my XR920 for indoor competitions because I prefer the 1911 style trigger over all others. (However, most of my carry guns are not 1911 style guns.) My XR920 is now in my carry rotation. The Platypus has really been put to the side as my local range stopped their indoor matches. The Plat would be in the carry rotation had I not put a Nitro Fin thumb rest on it. No matter what decision you make, I don't believe you are going to regret it. There just is no bad decision between the two.
I’ve never been happy with my shadow systems, it’s just me, not talking bad. The platypus is nice! I just picked it up, only about 300 rounds through it. My staccato is just, awe-some!!!!!!!! In my opinion. I have the C2 limited with comp, XC, and the CS. I’m not a fan boy. But it like cheating. I still carry my Glock.
When you remove the slide stop, is the slide to frame fitment still just at tight?
Definitely. Still has good fitment.
Awesome! I went to a local shop that had a prodigy that was extremely well fit. I took the slide stop out and it was super loose. The barrel lug was locked with the slide stop. No bueno. Good to know the Platypus doesn’t have that issue
Have you tried any of the 2011s from Bul Armory? I'm on the fence between the Platypus and the Tac Pro.
I have. I owned the SAS Ultralight II. Trigger was probably a little better/lighter than the Platypus but I got rid of it. (I had too many issues with it.) Personally, I would go with the Platypus because of the magazines, fitment, and reliability.
Hey, discovered your channel as I’m considering a MPA DS9. Went back and really found great content. New sub! I also use the same trigger gauge as you have and it looks like you need to slow your trigger pull a bit to get a more accurate measurement. The gauge will always show a lower # number going fast. Had one of my guns measured on the traditional gauge with actual weights and learned my electronic gauge was measuring much lighter when I pulled too fast. Anyhow, just food for thought. Thanks for all the great content.
Thanks so much for the subscription and the info about the trigger gauge! Def going to try it that way. As you are looking into the DS9, don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Thanks again!
How bad is it when it goes into v4 mode, is it very annoying
I have never been a fan of v4. I always have the car in Z mode so it will not switch over to v4.
@@bluepstu9009would you say this exhaust is very loud? That’s what I’m loookinf for but videos don’t do justice
@@Brewdawg235 I would not say obnoxious loud. It is very loud on start up and loud when you get on it. The loudest I have heard in person is the AWE Track.
cool video thanks

I have both. The platy is sweet. But it is no way comparable to the XC…. In my opinion. I don’t compete, from a handicap persons point of view. The skid is harder to rack than the XC, or the C2. I’m way happy I got it. It does out perform my glocks….. thank goodness lol lol
They are both great in their own way. For the money, still hard to find a better gun than the Plat.
Another great video. Thanks for the comparison!
Thank you sir!
I wonder if you know the range SSR?
Sorry. I don't.
Unbeatable accuracy and Reliability with that platypus considering the 200% price difference.
Yes sir. I really like that the grips can be smaller/narrower than the traditional 2011/ 1911 double stack.
@bluepstu9009 yup that's one of the major selling points imo along with the ol reliability of a glock mag. The new staccato c will be the new standard imo, as it's actually based around the 9mm.
Hi! If you were to recommend them, which one would you recommend? How's the recoil on the Platypus vs the xc? Is the island barrel making a difference for you?
It really depends on your purpose for the gun. The XC is probably the flattest/softest gun that I have ever shot and this is counting guns that would be considered a higher "tier" than the XC. You just need to consider if the XC is worth paying 2 1/2 times more as the Platypus is a great deal for the money. Good luck!
There is no comparison. The XC is better. But, the platy is better then Glock, or shadow system. In my opinion. But I carry my C2 w/ comp.
Just got mine. It’s great! Loving it. It’s a bit snappy, not much. Thinking of putting a comp on it. It is accurate. I have to put more rounds through it. It’s not as flat as my staccato C2
Did you get a commander size or government? It shot much flatter/softer when I put a thumbrest on it and dropped the recoil spring down to a 10lb spring.
Great review. What video setup are you using?
Thanks. Probably not the best set up. It is just a Go Pro Hero 11 Black. I have just been putting it on a hat but may try a chest rig.
