People with devil fruit powers lose their powers but also drain them of strength, so they physically can't swim. As far as shanks think more intimidation than hypnosis.

There are some loopholes. These allow them to bathe and drink water at least.
true although the OPLA seems to imply with this episode ateast that "just a few splashes" affects him. but thats not it. not splashed by water. but submerged by water. liquid up to your chest is more accurate. rain dosnt affect luffy. Devil fruit users cant swim and are weakened when "IN" water. sorry for drunken Comments at 615 am. for me lololol

Morgan isn't "Head" of the Marines, he's a captain of a marine base (middling rank at best, not even of his own boat). The heirarchy goes much higher than captain.
The WORLD of One Piece is... weird. While there are continents, most land masses are islands of various sizes, and the Grand Line is the weirdest... or one of the weirdest at least... areas of the world. We learn more about the world as we go, and unravelling some of the secrets of the world is all part of the adventure.
Let's just say Buggy's story is only one side of the story. And he's not the most reliable of narrators.
The big sea monster is among a class of creatures called Sea Kings. Any sea creature that is, well, ENORMOUS is a Sea King. They're just part of the world, and one more reason why sea travel is risky.
Buggy is my favorite one piece character so this adaptation would live or die based on how he was portrayed… I think the actor nailed it perfectly, he was a lot of fun and representing the character well
Jeff Ward is a treasure! Loved him on Agents of SHIELD. I hope he has a long and fruitful career.
Said it before, but this show's take on Buggy is a bit different than the original manga/anime, but still gets the jist. Buggy isn't anywhere near as powerful or intimidating as he thinks he is...but he's actually a fair bit more scary here. I think Jeff Ward did really well and had a lot of charisma for the character here. Buggy is one of the author's favorites, so it's clear they had to get him right here!
I feel like it makes more sense for how Buggy's story goes. When the series first started, I think Buggy was far more of a gag character than he ended up. With this adaptation, they can lay the ground work earlier for things, such as Buggy being far more competent than he initially seems.
The guy on Shank's crew who made the trick shot, ricocheting the shot to save his crewmate is named Yasopp. Remember it.
My favorite part of this episode is the Mayor asking Luffy "Are you our new captors?" And Luffy looking legitimately confused.
I love seeing how emotional you got over Shanks giving the hat and Nami fixing it.
9:45 There’s a “captive audience” visual pun here 😂 I love how Nami and Zoro’s conversation in the box and after breaking out mirror each other. The teamwork begins with acknowledging each other’s methods lol

also the big sea serpent is called the Lord of the Coast, and it's just a really big sea monster. there are a lot of them in the story, that one just happens to live right next to Luffy's hometown lmao

The anime did a better job of communicating the Sea wont let you swim. Even if you knew how.
I don't think that they actually say his name in the live action but Morgan's son's name is Helmepo.
They say it once really quickly and then never again. Just about everyone misses it, so maybe they should have said it again 😂

Basically, ocean/sea water is what kryptonite is to superman. Literally body gets weak and hard to lift your body.
Devil fruit eaters in "sea water" only become powerless, like a hammer they sink because the sea drains their powers and they're unable to move to survive after their (initial) struggle
Sea water basically is a devil fruit eater's kryptonite. They are weakened when submerged in sea water.

I never noticed until watching this that, after the Sea King tries to attack Shanks and Luffy, you se Shanks' arm fall into the water on the wide shot.
they go limp when they touch sea water depending on their resistance. there's a certain item that will be revealed in season 2 that explains why they're sending ordinary marines after these meta-humans

My take on nami and the lock picking, everything we see nami do is slow, methodical, and intentional. She’s not a speedy thief, she’s a calculating one.

@@funnylilgalreacts Happy to hear it. I'm very fond of the 90s animated Spider-Man as well. As I remember, people loved it just as much as X-Men 97, it was simply not talked about. I would rec it first over the 1992 X-Men show, but both were unique and great.

Good rule of thumb for identifying Devil Fruit powers vs. feats of anime will or anime training: DF powers usually transform the human body in a way it couldn’t otherwise survive and/or affect the environment in “supernatural” ways. [WORD THAT MIGHT BE IN SEASON LIKE FOUR?] is exaggerations of regular existing human feats: speed, strength, healing, the five senses, or feats of will like intuition, hypnosis, or intimidation.

Funny that you say that Zoro seems to be a man of his word. To him, people keeping their word is important, and if you decide to watch the anime or read the manga, you’ll see that even more.
Nami here is the voice actor on an anime called Delicious in Dungeon. I read it years ago and found it more quaint than most manga/animes. It's got a decent mixture of cute stuff and mild drama. I prefer the original audio subtitled but I'm trying to give the dub a chance anyway. I'm not even recommending it, just talking about it. I'm see most animes ready to be traumatized by them. This one isn't quite that. It's almost relaxing by comparison. Very mid-tier, but not in a bad way.

Shanks Can Swing and luffy cant because he eat devil fruit its In the anime it's very clear Saïd fans of the series people don't really understand because in the anime we see Shanks swimming which means he didn't eat demon fruit that's 100% sure

What happened?

In this world of One Piece, there are special abilities people can learn called Haki, there are multiple versions of Haki people can master, and it's very powerful ability to have which can do different things, and do what Shanks did to the giant sea serpent monster, it's also a counter ability to Devil Fruits. Depending on how long they continue doing live-action series I would like to see how they would show those abilities more, if not, the Anime is there full of details on all these things.
It's a common thing within One Piece where a character is absurdly strong for no reason and can lift masses twice or three times their own size like it's nothing. Even though the Anime and Manga series of One Piece is over 1,000 chapters and still on-going, but there is indeed an ending to One Piece thats currently in the works. One Piece will eventually be revealed at the end of their long journey, as it's already been planned on how the series will end, and all the if and when it will end, it's possible there could be 2 whole story arcs before it's finally complete, or just 1 more to finish it out, but I don't see it being any more than 2000 episodes probably, even though we're already up 1,100 episodes for anime series. If you cut out all the filler arcs of One Piece anime, you can catch up to current pretty quick, as well as the long intro they always do of each episode.
