  • When pressing LOCK on the key fob the doors all lock, the horn beeps & the doors unlock. Also on the dash the door open warning light is on, even when all doors are definitely fully closed.
OBD reader showed the rear doors "said" open all the time.
This video shows how I found the issue & how I fixed it.

I bought a new Transit when the MK7 minibus came out in late 2006. Had this problem from first week. Must have had half a dozen new locking mechanisms until the warranty run out. never was fixed. Bought another minibus new 2011 and it started after a few months and still does. The rear doors seldom get opened but the beep still happens every couple of weeks. I open the rear door and close it and it all locks.

In my case it turned out that there was corrosion in the connector behind the right rear light. Generally, everything was floating in water there when I opened it. After cleaning it improved and everything works from the remote.

Did your rear door lock at all buddy? Mine locks but I get the horn sounding. I assume because the body control module can't see that a door is locked. Not looked over it yet. Good spot by the way, always areas of suspicion wires between doors and frames eh.

All doors locked for a second or 2 then all unlocked. It does the same if one door is not quite closed properly.

Does anyone here know WHY Ford chose to make the horn sound when not all doors are locking, instead of another way that would make much less noise? I own a similar Transit and it's always the same.. Rear door doesn't lock and there it goes, waking up the neighbours... Very anoying. Would be great to find a way to make it stop doing that. Does anyone know if this is programmable with the BCM?
In my case it's the problem with the wiring loom. I don't get why they built it like it was designed to break, and then sell new looms for that much money. Shouldn't cost more than 10 euros looking at the quality of it..

No idea why - but if there is a way to stop it that would be great. It's one way to p**s off your neighbours while camping to have the horn sounding in the middle of the night when locking up for the night!

Was the wire you added 12v 5amp? Cheers

Not 100% sure. I have various stuff in garage. But I would have thought the power through the wire is very low so not much amps through them.

it looks like someones tried to get into it ,they run a knife down the door gap to de-activate the central locking ,the same thing happened to my transit ,you can buy a purpose made shield that you rivet into the door gap that guards all the wires

Maybe, but it was not going into the body when the door was shut, so it was being bent at a sharp angle.
