I don’t care how many times I hear it, every time these words send a chill through me Life before death Strength before weakness Journey before destination
If I had to name three characters who truly embody the Radiant Ideals, they'd have to be Lift, Kaladin, and Dalinar. Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination.
So something I thought about watching this video. Adhesion is the surge associated with Honor, while Progression is the surge associated with Cultivation. So what is Odium's surge? Spoilers for the greater Cosmere at large, but Roshar actually predates the Shattering, the event where Adonalseum was split into the 16 Shards we know of now. Which means Honor and Cultivation are not actually native to Roshar. Hell, you could say none of the Shards are native to their worlds, except for Ruin and Preservation, who literally created Skaadriel. And despite being a late arrival, Odium has become as much a god of Roshar as Honor or Cultivation, as evidenced by the fact that his rhythm is one of the three Pure Tones of Roshar. There's also the fact that Venli can still power her surges with voidlight. Therefore, Odium should have his own surge. Is it this Voidbinding we've heard about? Hell, have we even seen what Voidbinding is? Is it the future sight we see from Renarin? Or maybe it's actually Division, and that's why it gets locked away until a Radiant has proven they are ready for it? On a separate note, I absolutely love Surgebinding and the Knights Radiant more than anything in the Cosmere. The unique flavor of the magic, as well as the magic weapons and armor that can be summoned at will, all give Stormlight a very Kingdom Hearts feel. Pretty much every major, epic moment has been accompanied by the KH soundtrack in my head, and "Face My Fears" could be the anthem of the Knights Radiant.
Have you read Dawnshard yet? Judging by that the windrunners third ideal isn't about protecting people you hate but protecting regardless of any caveat. Basically no 'buts'! Just protect above anything else you may feel about anything! (I left this as vague as I could in case you haven't read that yet)
Is storm-light archive really worth reading??? I read 100 pg volumes of manga at most, and I’m worried about overcommitting to a huge “book” series. I’m intrigued, is it worth the page count for someone casual like me?
It's quite the undertaking! It's much more fast-paced than, say, George Martin's ASOIAF, but it's dense with characters, plots, and Easter eggs leading to the wider Cosmere In MY opinion, it's beyond worth it! I've always loved Brandon's work, and this is definitely his magnum opus for sure! It's my favorite fantasy series of all time. Worth it? YES!!!! Is it daunting, yes, and it may require a couple of handy videos on RUclips to understand certain parts of this world and its characters. But I can't recommend it highly enough, and it's got a very manga or anime vibe at times ... I mean... giant ass swords and flying. Can't get more anime than that
If you haven't decided to pick up Stormlight Archive yet, I'd like to recommend trying the audiobook version. I've been using it for a reread. It's been great cause I can listen while doing chores and stuff like that. Really takes the commitment level down a notch.
The Knights Radiant are basically Stand Users, their Oaths are like Stand Cries and the bonded Spren and their abilities are like Stands and Stand Abilities.

For chapter 4, there is only one character who can bring the orders together.
UNITE THEM.

Bro, stop making these masterpieces.
