this is the easiest solution I found on internet, thank you very much!!! my tl 841n now run openwrt smoothly there is a small difference in my case: after click [save] button, my page go blank in 1-2s instead of show blue border on button
Thank you really! Tried lots of "solutions" and nothing worked but this did the trick! Successfully upgraded my old WR740N to dd-wrt :) now i'll use it as repeater bridge!
Thank you very much for making and sharing this video. You saved a lot of time for me, i was about to do the upgrade with seriel/tftp method. This is a lot easier and quicker! My router is TP-Link WR841N v11, just for the record, running OpenWrt now. :)

That's exactly what I needed, thank you! Worked like a charm on TP-Link WR841ND v9. Would be great if this guide was included in the installation Wiki on official DD-WRT page.

Thank you so much, you do have to concentrate while copying from is comment in order to take only one entering and ending ' Here is an enhanced version easier to copy. By the way I have the WR940N(CA) v5.0, I took the US version from DD-WRT. `echo "httpd -k"> /tmp/s` `echo "sleep 10">> /tmp/s` `echo "httpd -r&">> /tmp/s` `echo "sleep 10">> /tmp/s` `echo "httpd -k">> /tmp/s` `echo "sleep 10">> /tmp/s` `echo "httpd -f">> /tmp/s` `sh /tmp/s`

Thanks for the guide. It'd be great if you could give us a rundown/showtime of the advantages of going to the WRT firmware instead of the factory default firmware too - maybe part 2?
You are most welcome. I will look into doing a video on the advantages of DD-WRT over the stock firmware. My main purpose here was to show how to get past the 18005 Error on these routers in a unique new way and then prove that the fix worked by quickly installing the DD-WRT firmware. I will consider it for sure. Thank you so much for watching, commenting and the kind words. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
hello richard thanks for this video its really helpful, and iv used your videos for my networks and they have really helped ,i was wondering can i upgrade lower TP-link routers, and other routers like huawei?
You are most welcome. If the routers are compatible with the DD-WRT firmware than yes you can. Check the availability and compatibility for the firmware at the DD-WRT website. If you see available firmware for your model and version of router more than likely it will work. Thank you so much for watching, commenting and the kind words. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
You are most welcome. I have tried it now on three TP-Link routers including a C9 and it worked every time. Please get back to us on your results with the C7. Thank you for watching, commenting and the kind words. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
@@richardlloydusa I bought an Archer C9 v2 and I have tried your method of unlocking. I tried on the 2.4Ghz and 5ghz band but it will not accept the firmware. Any suggestions? I even did a factory reset. **UPDATE** I even tried flashing to EU/UN Firmware after watching your video on how to unbrick a C9 router and it did not work. I am guessing if you live in the US you're forced to use TPlink's garbage firmware.
My problem started since I updated the firmware to v6 EU when only v3 is available in my region. I have a router model TR-WR940N, haware version v6. What I want is to go back to the version of my region, v3, but I get that error. and try your steps but when you enter the last code nothing happens
sir i am being your fan watching this video... its really very interesting and helpful to us... thank you so much sir ... sir english is my second language .. if you add subtitles its will more helpful to us who is not good at english ... the same problem happened to me ... still not fixing mine :( sir help me if possible
If you click on the CC button you can look at the closed captioning and select your language. RUclips does this for most videos. You are most welcome. Thank you for watching, commenting and the kind words. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
Please I need help I applied the method and it succeeded with me, but I cannot refer to the original system, please There is no way to return to the original system
Thanks.. Worked on my WR940N V6 (EU Version) I did some aditional steps... maybe can help someone. A quick resume: 1) Downgrade the original firmware to the oldest one. I downloaded from www.tp-link.com/pt/support/download/tl-wr940n/v6/?#Firmware 2) After the downgrade, the router is factory reseted. Access 192.168.1.1 using LAN CABLE (I used a normal cheap cable). 3) CHange the SSID to each these lines, one by one and saving `echo "httpd -k"> /tmp/s` `echo "sleep 10">> /tmp/s` `echo "httpd -r&">> /tmp/s` `echo "sleep 10">> /tmp/s` `echo "httpd -k">> /tmp/s` `echo "sleep 10">> /tmp/s` `echo "httpd -f">> /tmp/s` `sh /tmp/s` after the last line the router sleep for 15 seconds 4) wait 15 to 30 seconds and access 192.168.0.1 (yes, the ip changed) and now you can use non-oficial firmware.
I can't verify it for sure but there is no harm in trying. You can always do a hard reset on your router if it does not work and bring it back to the factory defaults. Give it a shot and see. Please report back if it works so I can inform other people. Thank you so much for commenting and watching. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
Hi Richard, I'm trying to upgrade my firmware, it's TL-WR740N version 3, but doesn't work and the error 18005 keeps. But my TPLink Interface is a little bit different of yours: after each saving doesnt show the blue border and shows this msg below: "The change of wireless config will not take effect until the Router reboots, please click here to reboot". Please, I need your help.
I have no way of verifying if that would work as I do not have the RU version or a V6. Did you follow the video exactly and use the copy and paste method from my pinned comment? Thank you so much for commenting. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
I Have tried it on my tp-link C7 and it and did not work now would i have to do it on both 2.4 and 5.0 wireless i just did it on 2.4 the first one is that how you did it on your C9 and THANK YOU
