  • Truck tire maintenance is important for the safety of your driving and towing experience. Selection of a new or used tire for replacement of older tires is equally important. You need to be mindful of the weight of your vehicle, the amount of cargo you carry, and how much load your RV places on your tow vehicle (a pickup truck, SUV, or even crossover vehicles and cars for those with smaller trailers).

Very informative. Thank you. I’m considering replacing my Hankook tires with Goodyear Adventurer/Kevlar as well. When I tow my TT, I usually have my family with me and want to have any safety edge I possibly can. Safe travels.

The dealer ask if your going to tow but when it comes to tire they go cheap so when you replace tires alway upgrade to heavy duty tires more piles is better you can put 2500 tires on 1500 ! I do but not to air air pressure that a 2500 uses maybe ten pounds more than 1500 air pressure less in front tire than back when towing and normal pressure when empty, for best ride ! Strong tires are better when towing !

Error on used tires, - Code date is the very first thing you should be concerned about - Rubber shrinks and dries out as the tire ages. Anything over 6 years to a maximum of 10 years should be used with caution!!!

Agreed, after 6 years one must be careful and keep a close eye on crack development and other signs of damage.

I’ve never messed around with tires much until I got my f150. I always put on factory recommend size but this f150 recommends LT E rated tires so I just get those and don’t have to worry like a lot of other ppl do. 50 cold psi. really confused me at first. The tire pressure monitoring system is usually off 1-3 lbs on all tires.

Yeah, the TPMS is close but not precise.

Did I miss rotating your tires for even wear? 5,000 miles is about normal.
