Just wanted to say thank you for uploading this!! I was in the process of cleaning my disc laser and when I finally got to the step of reattaching the ribbon cable, I almost gave up entirely. So many reassembly guides expect you to be able to reattach the ribbon cable by squeezing your hand through the back. I found it impossible. Thanks to you I was able to get it reattached!

Excellent video! I agree, this is more than likely the method for assembly used by the original factory workers.
I initially tried reseating that cable the difficult way and found that your way actually allowed me to seat the flex cable more securely and deeper into the connector on motherboard. My initial attempt with the caveman method left the black distance marker out in the open by 1mm or so, whilst yours allowed the marker to be buried within the connector.
I'll need to test my console properly. I bought my slim console recently as my original superslim appears to have a wireless card malfunction that doesn't let me connect bluetooth or wifi... but I can still boot normally without issue and even update amd access internet whilst connected via ethernet thankfully. I haven't got the soldering skills or equipment to safely mess with the wireless chip or surrounding components.

    • @moandaindesigns

@naliboi93 happy to help. The wireless com card is a surface mount with solder balls.

Lol, deffo don't have the equipment and skills for messing with anything using solder balls sadly. Hand soldering and occasional SMD desoldering of accessible pads with ChipQuik is as far as I can go (I think that also means I won't be able to replace any voltage regulator chips linked to the wireless card as they usually have hidden solder points underneath their chips anyway).
