Twardowski is a character from old Polish story and because I'm lazy here is quote from Wikipedia
"According to an old legend, Twardowski was a nobleman (szlachcic) who lived in Kraków in the 16th century. He sold his soul to the devil in exchange for great knowledge and magical powers. However, Twardowski wanted to outwit the devil by including a special clause in the contract, stating that the devil could only take Twardowski's soul to Hell during his visit to Rome - a place the sorcerer never intended to go. Other variants of the story have Twardowski being sold to the devil as a child by his father.
With the devil's aid, Twardowski quickly rose to wealth and fame, eventually becoming a courtier of King Sigismund Augustus, who sought consolation in magic and astrology after the death of his beloved wife, Barbara Radziwiłł. He was said to have summoned the ghost of the late queen to comfort the grieving king, using a magic mirror. The sorcerer also wrote two books, both dictated to him by the devil - a book on magic and an encyclopedia.
After years of evading his fate, Twardowski was eventually tricked by the devil and caught not in the city, but at an inn called Rzym (Rome in Polish). While being spirited away, Twardowski started to pray to the Virgin Mary, who made the devil drop his victim midway to Hell. Twardowski fell on the Moon where he lives to this day. His only companion is his sidekick whom he once turned into a spider; from time to time Twardowski lets the spider descend to Earth on a thread and bring him news from the world below. "
Thats TRUE
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pan_Twardowski
Jan Twardowski (Joannes Duranovius), just like Michał Sędziwój (Michael Sendivogius), is a historical figure. Twardowski was an alchemist and a necromancer. He was murdered, and his death was orchestrated by the powerful Mniszech family. Sendivogius was a scholar, a diplomat, an alchemist (a world-famous one), but never dabbled in magic. Duranovius & Sendivogius. Two legendary figures. Quite a bit of Polish history. But legends about them are just wild and wilder.
now "Twardowsky 2.0" go!
Yep, unlike Jaga, which was an original story that just had characters from folklore, this was based on an actual legend :) It may be hard to appreciate how they put a modern twist on it without knowing it but I'm glad to see you enjoyed it anyway :)
Jan Twardowski was a Polish noble that made a pact with the devil. The devil would fulfil all his wishes in exchange for his soul, and Twardowski quickly became a rich and acclaimed alchemist, one of his most famous feats was summoning the late wife of the Polish king. There was a clause however that the devil will only collect Twardowski's soul after two years when they meet in Rome. Twardowski, of course, didn't plan to ever go there because duh, who would? :P So the devil used a trick and lured him into an inn called "Rome". But Twardowski still didn't want to go willingly and made a run for it to the moon. He lives there to that day with a spider that occasionally drops to Earth on its web and brings Twardowski news from his homeland.
Thank you for the story! Now I will know for 2.0
@@x666xIronMaiden I believe I left a comment under your reaction to Jaga about Boruta and Rokita - I recommend checking it out before Twardowsky 2.0 if you forgot :)
@@x666xIronMaiden i believe i left there a comment to so another reason to check ;)
Pan Twardowski (Polish pronunciation: [ˈpan tfarˈdɔfski]), in Polish folklore and literature, is a sorcerer who made a deal with the Devil.[1] Pan Twardowski sold his soul in exchange for special powers - such as summoning up the spirit of Polish King Sigismund Augustus' deceased wife - but he eventually met a tragic fate. The tale of Pan Twardowski exists in various diverging versions and forms the basis for many works of fiction, including one by Adam Mickiewicz.[2]

Twardowski - first man on the moon.
0:50 English subtitles are made by makers of the film here so you will be ok
Twardowsky 2.0 will show you a fallout of first part and connection to other shorts from Legendy Polskie Allegro
Well like You mention Polish is not your language, and to be honest biggest part You are missing INHO will be music. Creator (Tomasz Bagiński) took 4 songs (I'm counting Disco Polo song), each of them tells us what is happening on screen and that the most obvious layer, these songs are great testament of polish modern culture.
First of we go "Wszystko Chuj" made by Elektryczne Gitary (All is dick made by Electric Guitars), second is "Zegarmistrz Światła Purpurowy" by Tadeusz Woźniak (Purple Watchmaker of Light) and Closing song "Dni ktorych nie znamy" by Marek Grechuta (Days we don’t Know) and lastly Disco Polo song "Ona Tańczy dla mnie" by Weekend (She dances for me).
I can go on and on about them, but to be honest.. Like Maiden fan to a fellow Maiden fan, go for "Zegarmistrz Światła Purpurowy" there are translations into English and check out this song, listen to it first time not knowing the translated text, think about it for a few moments and then listen to it again now wit translated text.
I’m sure You will thank me for it later.
I’m not sure if I ever seen song in this topic made so pleasant to listen.
for backstory look up SuperBunnyHop's video /watch?v=pQHsmiFJqJc - it's in english and it relates to Witcher III Hearts of Stone, but it cover the legend both Twardowsky and Witcher expanson are based on
