Legendy polskie is a modern take on old polish legends, while watching them u can find threads that connect one short film to another hinting to the greater story in the shadows.
Thank you! :)
Well ... not only Polish, my friend, but whole slovakian miths. Read about mother of nature, and thunder gid perun. Thumbs up xD
Yes they absolutely should do a take on the Slavic gods ;) Perun is my favourite !
Actualy to Slavic legends and Slavic gods ;) yaga was an old Slavic goddes of nature , Perun the god of thunder and chaos , the little girl is marzanna and the “devil” is boruta

"Perun" is the highest Slavic old god.

Raz, dwa, trzy Baba Jaga patrzy
Ja kudlaty durnowaty, nie wiedziałem co to taty ;)
1,2,3....Jaga loooooock
Btw, Baba Jaga is slavic demon, who abducting, kill and eat children, and banish diseases. Perun, its us god of thunder, father of gods...some like thor+odin.
Thanks for the extra info! :)
Christianity make a bad PR to Jaga in oldest mith she was a women who get a gift to heal of from Weles. But he said that the men cant get this knowledge.
not really mate.In another version Baba Jaga is a supernatural being (or one of a trio of sisters of the same name) who appears as a deformed and/or ferocious-looking woman. Baba Yaga flies around in a mortar, wields a pestle, and dwells deep in the forest in a hut usually described as standing on chicken legs. Baba Yaga may help or hinder those that encounter or seek her out and may play a maternal role and has associations with forest wildlife. And yet another version says she is slavic demon who abducted men and killed them with her long, sagging tits.

Nie, no kurde, Lucyfera i diabła z Perunem.
Few words about this Allegro series:
Originally there were just two shorts - Smok and Twardowsky - and the point was to put a futuristic twist on old well-known Polish legends. But after they became popular more came and from that point onward Allegro opted for a new angle - that they are all parts of one bigger story. Using many already existing tropes - not just from mythology but from modern pop-culture as well - they created quite a concise world. In that series, Yaga has the most original story - it's the only one not based on an actual legend but just putting many random elements together. I recommend the entire series but research the original legend first :)
P.S. About characters appearing or mentioned here:
Senior Satan Boruta, director of Polish Hell - Boruta is the most well-known devil in Polish demonology. Most popular versions have it that he was a nobleman in his life. He's the cunning type and it wasn't the first time in the modern era that he was pictured as supervisor or manager of the Polish branch of Hell :)
Rokita, Boruta's aid - Rokita is another very well-known Polish devil, often believed to be a highwayman during his human life, sometimes even quite Robin Hood-like. Frequently presented as simpler than Boruta and even somewhat good-natured compared to him, makes sense that he doesn't care so much about questioning the existing order.
It is an original concept of the Allegro series to show Rokita as generally competent, while Boruta as horrible with technology, although considering their social background it makes sense for the former to learn whatever tools his current trade required and for the latter to be rather impractical.
Perun - as many people already explained, one of the top brass among old Slavic gods. After Christianisation all characters from old beliefs were deemed ungodly (same pattern all around the word), thence the concept that Perun is imprisoned in Hell and Hell is responsible for him.
Baba Yaga - a Slavonic witch. Has strong connections with plants, traditionally lives in a hut on a chicken foot. Sometimes isn't really evil but still is a force of chaos and her actions can be harmful to humans.
Marysia, the girl who helped Boruta - I'm pretty sure is the original character, no way could any demonic character in Polish beliefs be named Mary.
Iron Mountain - the special troop of Polish Internal Security Agency dealing with all paranormal activity. The ones that tried to deal with Yaga because Rokita dutifully reported her, you could see them using grenade with 'Iron Mountain' rune on it which serves as their logo. It seems to be the original concept, I don't know and couldn't trace any legend about Iron Mountain.
Marysia is Marzanna - Slavic she-god of winter & death
The series of films "Legendy Polskie" is based on characters from Polish legends and beliefs. Smok Wawelski, Pan Twardowski, Bazyliszek, Baba Jaga, Boruta, Rokita, Perun and so on are taken from Slavic (also Polish) mythology 🙂👍
Привет от древних славянских богов 😉🔥.
Yes, Perun/Pirun is the equivalent of Zeus in slavic mitology.
This is a series of short films which are supposed to end with a full-length movie Twardowsky 3.14 (heard that, not sure what's going on with that). The whole series is sort of like the MCU connecting polish legends and making them into a whole story. Every one is a retelling of the original story in a modern sci-fi- ish way.
1. Yaga - Baba Yaga was a witch living in a forest and kidnapping people (mostly kids). She lived in a house on a chicken leg. In this version she is a sister or a cousin to Boruta (the devil)
2. Twardowski - he was a nobleman who had made a deal with a devil to get whatever he wanted, but when it came time to pay up (with his soul) he tricked the devil and escaped. It is said that he hid on the Moon and lives there to this day.
3. Basilisk - was a monster (half chicken, half snake or lizard) who could turn you into stone if you looked at him. He was defeted by a boy who tricked it to look into a mirror (or a polished shield, whatever)
4. Dragon - it's a story of a dragon who would terrorise Cracow, eat live stock and virgins (depending on the mood). No one suceeded in slaying the dragon until a young shepard boy made a woolen sheep and filled it with sulfur. The dragon ate it and when the sulfur ignited inside it, the beast would drink and drink and drink until it exploded.
For anyone who knows better please don't hate on me, this is how I remember those tales from my childhood.
Long story short. We have some very old story tales. Baba Yaga was also in John Wick movie. It is slavic legend. Every Allegro movie is about some polish very famous legend (all kids know it), and made in our modern times. Every movie is a modern (in our times) adaptation of very old story tails. Some of that story tails has more than 100 years. Some of them could by older than few hundred years.
Way, way older than that.
There is also a pretty cool music video for exit song (Kocham wolność - Cover. Matheo & Damian Ukeje), which hints some details to relations between the devils. What you might miss (because there are no subs for this one) is the irony of the scene wit rat labyrinth built by Marysia, while the whole song is about one's love for freedom
Perun is the Slavic god of thunder
You can actually figure out who the "senior Satan of Polish hell" is from Polish wikipedia if you know the crazy language (confirmed in a special allegro audiobook). Before Christianity, the name "Boruta" used to belong to a forest deity/spirit, he would look after his forest, its animals and hunters. However, it was common during Christianization to identify pagan pantheons with the devil and keep them as an "evil" part of the new religion. So we have this ex-pagan spirit ruling Polish hell and all the others (like Perun, Jaga, the Basilisk, Pixies, Nymphs...) locked up in cells he owns. PS It's way more intricate than this. So hyped for the movie.
Baba Yaga was like a witch in the US . Perun was an old Slavic god - the god of chaos and thunderstorms/ something equivalent to a god of war
In Poland we don't learn slavic and pagan backgroud, history and cult as well...
All series is homage to polish legends.
Well if you’re not Polish you can miss lots of little gems 12:34 is actually words of very popular Polish song. Also little things they say here and there would not translate the same to different language/culture. Legend of baba Jaga[Yaga] is mixed with other legends and they created this story about hell to put them all together.
Perun = Piorun = Lightning
i was taught that Baba Jaga is a witch not a demon. The most powerful of the witches, but a human by nature.
She was a Slavic goddess not a witch
Poland 🇵🇱💪⛪
Jaga is a Polish witch and the symbols shown on the rocks are ancient Slavic symbols

Legendy Polskie it is Polish Legends by Allegro and the title is Jaga (pronunciation YAGA), and the creatures that are in Borutha's Lock are ancient Slavic Gods (like Preun) and powerful humans with magic (like Yaga) and Boruta is a small devil who was recruited by new religion to lock them up.
"Ja kudlaty durnowaty, nie wiedzialem co to taty" Przygody wesolego diabla powinni odświeżyć ;)

"How to make views"...take some video about or from Poland and just wait...because we polish, love all from our country, and we like when someone from difrent country watch this, and react ^^
It's actually been pretty interesting learning about your history. It is not something we learn here in Canada.
TOMM SUPER
So don't blame the man for being smart. And sorry u from Canada I hope that I don't misgendering you. Don't want to go to prison.
These are all short stories but some of them are longer than the others. My favourites are Twardowski and Twardowski 2.0. And yes, they are all based on polish/slavic folklore. Btw, english subtitles were pretty poor, very crude.
After the advent of Christianity, the Slavic gods were imprisoned in hell. The songs included in the films Polish Legends are old Polish hits that carry the message appropriate for the film... beautiful allegories. Congratulations that you lasted until the last second of the last note.
Jaga was the strongest of witches, the protector of nature, and perhaps her prototype was the Greek goddess Gaia
so watch the rest :) highly recomend it to you
That's Legendy - Polish G is pronounced like Mr. Miyagi, and [Y]aga - Polish J is pronounced like Y.
Baba Jaga that we know in Poland is a complete opposite of the Jaga in the movie. Instead of a lovely looking young lady she's a ugly old witch with huge nose. Very popular character in polish culture. She's even a symbol of a one region of eastern Poland.

Baliński - Baliński-'Katedra' Oscar
Allegro (a company like Amazon in Poland) have sponsored a series of short movies covering old Polish legends. But with a hilarious twist from the creators: Once Poland was Christianized, the old demons and pagan gods/goddesses were imprisoned in Hell, as with the advent of Christianity the Hell, real Hell, entered the scene. And the guys from Hell represent a corporate entity. They are serious, they are a corporation, and they mean business. You don't f**k with them. Boruta is the director, Rokita is his right-hand man. They locked up all the pre-Christian demons and deities, and started to lure human (Polish) souls to hell. No time for amateurs. The Hell has opened business in Poland. That's the background story, more or less. Yaga is one of the most powerful, pre-Christian demons. Perun is the top deity, but it's not clear how they got him. One thing is for sure: they are afraid of him. Very afraid.
Twardowsky was the best, you should check that one!
raz, dwa, trzy baba jaga patrzy lmaoo
Just wait for full movie xD it will be great
It's not the first video in the series. You should watch other ones as well.

Opinia...?
Pierun is like God of Death in old Poland Slavic Culture, like Loki to Thor
Perun is not God of Death , the God of Death is Weles (Veles), Perun is more like Zeus however the highest Slavic God was ROD the God of Gods the Families, Tribes and Slavic Nations than was Perun the Thunder God, than Svarog the Sunny God, Shviatovid The God of The Sites of The World (we can assume that he was related to travels), than was more e.g the Goddess of Feminine, Beauty, Pregnancy and Circle of Life called Laila (in some regions Lada) she was the mother of the Gods, Mokosh the Goddess of Rain, Dampness, Earth, Farming, Children and Families, Dana the Goddess of the Rivers and Water, Marzanna (Mashanna) the Goddess of Winter, Death and destring site of nature and it was much, much more ... In Poland mayby is still not so popular to go back to the roots but in Czech, Latvia, Lithuania or Belarus is lot more but all them are were very similar - as all are Slavs.
x666 what about Canadian Legends? Did you know any? Can you tell us?
I am sure there is some legends, but truthfully I do not know any that I can remember at this time. Our country's history is weird because we started off much later then Europe, so unless I were to speak to natives in our country I can only go back to about the 17th century which is when my people (Acadians) came and colonized the Eastern part of Canada. Later on the English came and deported us, etc... So unfortunately I have no legends, but just history lessons available to tell you.
....PRAWDA
DZIĘKUJĘ !
Perun is weapon
If you want to get some info about Twardowsky then watch SuperBunnyHops' vid /watch?v=pQHsmiFJqJc where he in short explains the story (he made that due to Witcher III: Heart of Stone, but still - it explains the story behind the legend)
A little backstory of Yaga(and a song from this film)

THIS GUY IS A GEGON
Allegro make really good films based on polish legends but in case of Yaga it isn't exacly legend. Films like Smok which means dragon is about famous legend of our old capital city Kraków. In this case Dragon has another polish legend in the plot line but it's really easy to miss it. Both Twardowski and Operacja Bazyliszek(Operation Basilisk) are also legend based. Yaga is just something in between. She was a slavic demon but there isn't any legend about her as far as I know. She was just boogieman of polish household. In time when there was no internet or TV parents used her to scare misbehaving children like "If you won't eat Baba Yaga will come at night to eat you." So this film is like entrance to the new film which will probably have Perun as main character. Also the song from Yaga fight scene has video. It shows her time in cell before she decided to leave.
Polish 'J' read as english 'y' (yaga)
Slavik Mitology
Looks like Boruta has a crush on Jaga.
Hell no. She's like a daughter for him. Boruta said that in the interview with the devil.

It's a modern interpretation of Polish stories. It's a part of a couple short stories. That builds a bigger picture.
