I still remember needing to get map complete in HOT and learning about getting to a higher platform area by jumping on a giant vine and jumping/gliding the way up to it. Now, you just skyscale.
Something I recently discovered is that there is a WvW vendor that will sell stat selectable exotics for less than 1g and a few badges of honor (WvW currency). With the WvW rush going on, you can probably get everything you want for a fully geared character in half an hour or so.
Hey guys Lara, Guild MM, ConnorConCarne gearing guides are really good. They also tell you which living season you really need buy (if you dont want to buy all) to get ascended trinkets easy.
that vendor is great for not so easy to get stats but the named armor is cheaper at the AH for berserker's. for light its zehd's armor for medium is nika's armor for heavy is devona's armor if you wanna know all the cheap stat combos check the wiki for "named armor"
One advice that helped me ALOT do the dailies and weeklies and whatever you can for the ''Wizards Vault'' and in there every month you can buy 4 ascended gear parts and 1 weapon part :D helpes a ton with the ''gear'' even though that as the system is so intricate and at times gear doesn't matter, it does matter also in the other way :D so yeah 4 gear parts and 1 weapon part ^^ you'll welcome me if you did not know about that :D
"What do I do after I hit level 80?" "Whatever you want, and can." Just a few things - Map completion. - Poking around achievements and doing ones which look interesting. (EXCEPT DIVE MASTER.) - Check out the mini dungeons and jumping puzzles. - Kill a dragon. - Kill another dragon. - Mock Logan Thackeray. - Violent exfoliation of Maguuma. - Praise Joko. - Work crafting to reach Ascended gear. - Discover karka. - Pay respects to the Goremonger. - Prepare yourself for Halloween. @@rainbwsprkl The "Not-So-Secret"? Yeah. I really hate that one, because it's so difficult to reach as a "reset'. But I've long since gone "stop beating your head against that particular rock and do something you enjoy". :)
Having guildies around can be fun, but can also ruin an experience if you never get to fight anything because 15 people kill the thing before you get there so yes, I think he'll have a lot of fun doing it both solo and in groups.
Best way to approach masteries imo as someone who is max mastery rank 600, is to just play through the game, don't focus just on grinding out that exp bar, just play through the content and it'll all come naturally. Pick whatever mastery looks fun to you or is required for you to progress in the story etc. The grind mentality I find will just make it feel more like a chore.
be careful of making more characters, i had 3 characters at first, then i thought "i should get all 9 classes", long story short you end up with one class of every gender of each race
I ended up with just 9 for the classes... But the problem isn't here, the problem is that I used to not have a main (aside from my first character which was an ele that I grew to not be as fond of the class after trying other classes😢 but he stayed my main in story missions) The problem with not having a main is that my important consumables are scattered thro the characters and bank... I take too long on the loading screen deciding which character imma play this time, also takes long time to unlock all professions + builds and gear appropriate for them (which I enjoy alot tbh) But that doesn't mean that I mastered the class, I switch so often that I forget the special mechanic for this profession or confuse this with that.. so I'm left with a decently geared character but I do a pathetic 9k damage because I'm still not familiar with the class I play with it So I decided recently to main the most familiar classes to me and have most mastery over: revenant, ranger and necromancer, I also want to learn warrior and guardian from zero
I started with a warrior, got it to 80, then decided to make a ranger, then made a necromancer My warrior and Ranger are now "benched" for my Necromancer and Revenant. The game gives you enough rewards when you play by turning in experience writs to fast level other toons the longer you play. However, it is good to figure out how the over level 80 masteries and achievements for masteries work before you get too many toons IMO.
if you make a legendary, you will inevitably say "Never again!"... then you do it again, and again, and again. Everytime is supposed to be the last one. also, now with the wizard vault, you basically have half a legendary in a box every few months (feels like cheating). But i would highly suggest making at least 1 the legit way from scratch. Gen 1 legendaries have fun achievments to do that make you learn about a facet of the world of GW2 which represents your ultimate weapon. For example, for the Howler, i had to turn into a wolf and hunt down all the critters of the world that normally have no other purpose (bunnies, birds, frogs, etc.)
This is so true, first time looking at legendary i complained alot on youtube comment section how stupid the recruitment are just for simple QoL it provide, saying in map chat "i m done with this sh1t" but turn into 1 legendary per month
Great time to jump into World v World with the rush event going on. Otherwise I'm a big fractal enjoyer and starting the grind for ascended gear/agony resist is a great place to start. Really enjoying your journey so far and excited to see where you end up gravitating to
My partner and I play GW2 together and we plan our sessions before we log on. Something like: tonight we will continue the L40 quest line with these two characters, then do any dailies that are left over at the end of the session (like a fractal or jumping puzzle that isn’t taken care of by simply playing, like combos or dodge rolls would be). We play till our time is up (got to get sleep to be functional adults the next day) so we finish up a quest sequence, do the leftover dailies, head back to a major city for bank, vendors, etc and sort our inventories so we are ready to go next time we log on. This way we keep focused on our goal. There are times that we choose to go in and do other activities, like map completion or weeklies, fractals or jumping puzzles instead of the main story quests. But we always go in with a plan. Sometimes we do get pulled to a random meta event as we run by on a map, but then we get right back onto our quest after. We don’t do unplanned things that we know will take up too much time and not allow us to finish our goals for that session. This way we tend to stay immersed in the story we are currently playing through until a chapter/episode ends or something significant happens, even a cliffhanger or something. We decide to switch focus only when we feel like we’ve reached a good place to stop for a while. There’s so much variety in this game. I love it! But having a plan really helps to keep me on track, I’m too easily distracted so I’m happy that my partner is super organised and detail oriented, this system works really well for us.
The beauty of GW2 is that it allows you to play exactly the way YOU want to play. Don't let anyone tell you the way you're playing is the wrong way to do it. The game allows you to skip straight to the newest expansion if that's what you want to do, or you can begin the game, finish the tutorial, and jump into pvp at lvl2, that's totally valid as well. I like to say this game is a person with ADHD's ultimate playground, because you can jump around to whatever type of content you want to, spend 20min there, and then go do something else.
Having ADHD myself this game is also a good exercise to stay focused on that goal you have. ("NO! ... not that event, leave the plant be, go straight to the place! Okay, rez that player, but then straight to...)
Hey Rube! For your confusion about the skyscale and griffon, the quickest and easiest way to differentiate them is this: - the skyscale is good at _climbing_ up high things, but is terrible at actually flying and keeping altitude (it lands every 12 seconds if flying in a straight line). I say 'climbing' and not 'flying' because it literally has to touch a wall or land on something in order to keep going up. It _cannot_ go straight up by very much on its own. It is however, a king at hovering and slow, precise landings. - the griffon is good at _flying,_ in that it can fly forever and never have to land, but *_only if you're really skilled at it._* The griffon's mechanics allows you to perform dynamic flight and impressive aerial stunts, and you can reach almost any part of any map. BUT in order to do this, it needs a starting altitude, since the griffon cannot, on it's own, take off from the ground. This is where GW2's impressive mount swapping system and mastery combinations comes in: you can 'launch' the griffon using a combination of different mounts or mechanics and get enough altitude to fly the griffon from the ground. My favorite way is to: combat-mount the skyscale > x6 skyscale dashes > jade bot gliding booster > griffon. You have actually seen this in real time before in one of your streams: I did it to demonstrate the griffon to you when you came to my homestead to gather materials :) If you (or anyone else reading this) have any questions about the griffon and skyscale, I'd be more than happy to answer^^
The thing with legendaries is that the longer you played the game the faster you get them. You get a sense on how to approach the crafting. Also a lot of players dont know how to make gold so thats where those "11000 hours but 0 legendaries players" come from. Since we got the wizards vault you can easily craft them
As someone who's played GW2 since launch a couple tips: 1. No need to rush to get mounts/other unlocks/masteries. You can if you want, but you'll unlock all of that stuff naturally as you need it if you just play through the game roughly in order. 2. Legendaries are a long-term project. You can rush to try and complete them, but people can get burnt out on that. Set it as a progress goal and you'll end up earning a lot of the stuff needed to craft it just by playing and working on other things at the same time. 3. If you want to play another character, do it. The game is INCREDIBLY alt friendly, so many things are account-wide unlocks or account bound items. It is incredibly easy to hop around between different characters and for me I love to have options. Some classes I only really play one build because that's the one I like and if I need to fill another role in a group or want a different playstyle I just swap characters. 4. For people coming from other MMOs there is no real "quest log" in GW2. The personal/xpac/living world tabs give clear quest progress that's simple to follow through linearly and you can do those on your own easily enough. The real secret is that the true endgame questlog is the achievements panel. There are a ton of things hidden in there, from lengthy quests to get mounts and gear, to collections that reward you with titles, unique skins, unique ascended weapons, and much more. If you're at cap and done with the story or want to take a break from it, dig around in your achievements tab. also check out more of Laura's videos and catch her stream, she is a cinnamon roll and a wonderful creator in the community.
33:32 is peak moment of the video. Laranity: You might now be wondering 'what is the point of doing al of these game modes?' RubeusCubeus: To play the game, dude. Now we can finally play the game, brother! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I literally sit in Queensdale with a Mentor tag on giving tips / advice to new players :D I get so many compliments. Someone even thought I was an NPC and was shocked to know i was a player ^_^
Legendary crafting gets easier / faster after the first one (because you will have learned how to make gold / gather crafting materials better, and you also learn to just let them come to you over time rather than hardcore grinding for it - you'll just be playing the game and one day decide to check your progress on gw2efficiency and realize you're only 100g away from that next piece, and would you look at that you just so happen to have some excess materials you can sell to make that 100g by tomorrow) which is why I really recommend every new player hard focuses on the Season of the Dragon free legendary amulet. It breaks that mental barrier for them.
For me, the immediate sign of a veteran player is a combination of mastery level and achievement points. I have a couple of friends I have met in my travels through Tyria who are sitting at or around 600 mastery level with well over 10,000 achievement points. They are some of the nicest and most helpful people I have ever played a game with. One got me into meta events, Raids, and WvW, the other got me into Fractals. Never be afraid to toss a cry for help into the void! You may get kidnapped (by a siege turtle) and have your view on everything shifted by acts of kindness.
Do it Rube! :D Do what you feel like! Create a new character, appear offline so none of us can follow, play through any part of the game at your own pace (whether it's the story or just jumping straight into some of the later expansions), discover things at your own pleasure and record your reactions to it so you can still make a video for your channel. You can have your cake and eat it too! We'd be super happy to watch your videos, especially if you're having fun doing it! When you're having fun, the genuine enjoyment shows through^^
You can unlock masteries in WVW with Jade heroics at the Heroics Notary vendor. The skirmish chests you receive in WVW contain the option for jade heroics. If your considering Living world DLC's season 3 is good for ascended trinkets and the legendary trinket Aurora. Season 4 for the roller beetle, skyscale, the legendary trinket Vision, and volatile magic that can be traded for trophy shipments to make gold. Ice brood saga for strikes and eternal ice that can be traded for volatile magic.
I'd heard a very similar thing about PvP being a nightmare and hard to get into so left it for ages. I started getting into it this year and so far have really enjoyed it. Don't get me wrong, sometimes the matchmaking is quite one sided and you get flattened, but it has been a great learning experience and definitely improves your mechanical ability and class knowledge. There is a lot to learn in PvP and I see it as a long goal for myself. Don't let the naysayers deter you! P.s. Pvp is the only place I've seen legitimate, consistent toxicity in gw2 but I'm sure you can handle it
The biggest issue with PvP in gw2 imo is that it's VERY hard to get into as a new player. To be good at pvp you need to know the game inside out, you need to know every single class and what they can do, you need to know all the ins and outs of the game itself. As a new player you'll jump into pvp, die, and have NO idea why you died, or how to improve from there. There IS a new pvp mode coming out called Push, the beta for it actually just ended, and that one does seem a lot more newbie friendly than conquest is currently.
I started playing GW2 like 6 days ago and when streamers say you can play this game any way you want, they aren't wrong. Decided to start grinding for Skyscale and just paused everything else I was doing. Day 3 of the hunt and all I'm lacking is the Mastery EXP that I'm gonna be finishing up later today. I also for some reason decided to max out my Artificing, which took like 30 mins. All of this and I've only played Core Tyria story line. Why did I do this? Simply cuz I wanna 100% maps as I'm progressing the storyline. So I went to end game content, to make my early game more convenient. You can't really do that in other MMOs
Basically, the simplest goal after lvl 80 is -complete the elite specialitation (at least one) by collecting all hero point on the expansion map (because 10p for once rather than base map which 1:1) -collect mounts on PoF expac and grind the their level to get access to more ability -collect the mastery points Experience all the meta event and world bosses with the Event schedule. just type "/wiki et" or "/wiki event timer" on the game chat and it will direct to the event schedule For instance PvE, training the strikes, fractals, and raids encounter.
Skyscale is one of those mounts that isn’t strictly necessary (unless you want to play soto) but it’s absurdly broken, albeit boring to use after a while. If you want some fun mounts that are also pretty useful, the Griffon and roller beetle are great
There are people who get great satisfaction of following a story from front to end. There are others who enjoy the maps, the gameplay, the combat, the variety of things you can do. Figure out what it is about the game you enjoy then play it that way. New players can be frustrated by events being over with because you are competing with people who have higher mobility, or you there is no reason to get frustrated by not unlocking the first couple of mounts in path of fire then going back to HOT if that is what will make your game better FOR YOU. For many people it's playing the game the way it was meant to be played. For you it maybe different by feeling better if you have the mounts or doing World vs world or doing pvp. There will always be people who will tell you that what you are doing is wrong or upsets them, but if what you are doing makes the game feel good for you, then it's right.
I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this but the difference between the autoloot Mastery and manually looting is that the autoloot Mastery has a longer range. As far as I know, as long as you had any participation in the kill you get the loot.
About story in MMOs, GW2 in particular. I see people call GW2 story-driven game. IMO it is not. If you are not just replaying the whole story over and over, it takes miniscule amount of time to complete, compared to the rest of your activities in the game. For me story is less than 1% of the game. That's why I personally never think of it as important or even worth doing over something else.
I think the story gets to a poont where it's very servicable for people who enjoy story in their games, but it's not so important that you can't play the rest of the content without finishing it. I personally enjoy stories in games and have been replaying through the whole story recently while completing the seasons of the dragons achievements, and I gotta say it gets genuinely pretty good by the time HoT rolls around, and PoF/LWS4 are really enjoyable in my opinion.
@@Yattatt it allright.. at least something diverse to do for me.. way better than not having story at all and grind all the time like in WoW for example
@@MrVorech I mostly meant that if you genuinely enjoy stories in games, gw2's story is good enough that it isn't just a slog to get through once you're done with the base game story.
About the PvP-"problems": the origin of almost all the issues with PvP lies way deeper than you might actually think. When GW2 originally came out, ArenaNet actually intended sPvP to become e-sports-level competetive. One good indicator for that is the equalized gear-system, the balance-split and the fact that you can hop right into PvP after exiting the intro-instance, without having any disadvantage on a game-design level. the PROBLEM is (which is also the reason why PvP never made it to e-sports-levels): the actual game-balance hasn´t been good enough to fulfill the requirements for that leagues. At that point, ArenaNet shifted more towareds the PvE-playerbase (especially open-world, since it's the gigantic majority of players), basically neglecting PvP, and mostly WvW as well up intil recently). It's only since the last 1-2 years that both WvW and sPvP have gotten momentum again (with still some questionable choices at some parts). This, and other factors, did lead to a sPvP-playerbase that is EXTREMELY small. Which also makes the matchmaking in both unranked and ranked extremely unbalanced. a complete newbie can run into a tryhard-PvP-only that will absolutely dominate them. and you have no chance to prevent that (since trying to get better matchin MMR's will result in EXTREMELY long queue-times, probably in some ranges even impossible to get a match at all). Also, one common misconception about the name "Guild Wars 2" (specifically for GW2, not fully for GW1) is: Guild Wars 2 specifically is NOT named after actual player-versus-player in guild wars 2 itself. It comes from the first game of the series (which wasn´t even a full MMO, but more an online-koop campaign) where in the LORE, multiple Guild Wars happened (which in the game, also players were involved at some point). Actually, in the first game's lore and history, there were 3 major guild wars after the bloodstones were discovered as a powerful resource, and the major factions came into a massive conflict over those resources (leading to "the guild wars"). Ofc, the guild wars were a big part of the endgame in GW1, but GW2 lore-wise takes place hundreds of years later, yet stil in the same world. So GW2 doesn´t actually revolve around "player-vs-player Guild Wars" (though with the restructuring of WvW-teams, guilds became a lot more important again), it´s more like the name and history of the franchaise that leads to its name.
10:19 Luckily in GW2 there is an option where you can test them all out at Heart of the Mist pvp training zone which by itself is really cool thing the game has no need to waste days or weeks of playtime only to find out you would dislike the elite specs of the profession.
Want to go to the new areas fast? 1. Tp to friend is the easiest way just get there and start unlocking other area through the portals (u need to have that expansion to go to that areas). 2. Or do the first chapter of the new expansion. (no need to completed it, just do until the npc takes u to that area and ur free to explore when u leave the instant). But i recommanded u unlock some of the mounts first. And doing that before the actual story might spoiled everything when u do the story later.
Just wanted to remind you when you start the hot expansion that you are already max level, you don't need to rush through the story for you to start raiding or exploring the maps. Each map is end content so feel free to explore.
My personal advise for every but in particular new players after reaching lvl 80 is: chose 2-3 projects you wanna do and focus on this. Don't let you distract from other things. Or if you bored on your projects just roam around the World and do anything you want, but get back to the same projects you chose before, otherwise it will be hard to finish a single one. When it comes to gearing, I highly recommand everyone to play wvw. If you like it or not, join the wvw maps, select the "gift of battle" reward track and play. Maybe join an open squad, no matters if you like pvp or if you are not good at it, you will make progress and you earn batches of honor. And those can be traded inside the wvw maps at the golem-vender or in lions arch south of the fractal entrance. The thing is, you get ALL gear in exotic quality super cheap AND you can chose every stat combo on this gear. If you want to play e.g. a condition dps you will struggle on get gear with viper-stats since insignias are not tradeable and for the recepe you need crafting lvl 400 and access to masteries and vendors in expansions. So wvw exotic gear imho is the best, cheapest and most flexible exotic gear you can get. And while chosing reward track gift of battle you might finish it at least one time and believe me, you will need this rewards for sure later on if you dive deeper into gw2. 😂
I am very happy with Reaper as my Elite specialization. If you look at say AyinMaiden she always plays Ranger same as Mukluk, AuroraPeachy plays Guardian, so on and so on, many content creators, stick to one class, there are exceptions to the rule, WoodenPotatos used to play Elementalist as a main, in the new expansion has also been playing Ranger, try not to get sucked it to trying every class.
I am a lore nerd but i can understand that not everybody are checking every rock and and pathway in a story instance looking for all the hidden stuff. Those are there for people like me and can be skipped for people who just want to move though the story. How ever there is another aspect that people are not really thinking about. A lot of the story content in GW2 are played out by npc in the open world, coversations that makes a lot of sence to me but for those that just run through story paying no attention it says nothing. There are also stuff in the our world where npc are playing out small stories, or things in houses that will give me more info but make no sence to people around. Events that is building on the story, small or big that i understand, but for people it is just npc talking about shit you dont get because you missed it. Again there is no right or wrong way to play this game i am never telling anyone how they should play the game. But my point is when you go through all this, when all this npc's outside of the story make sence to you, the events build further on what you went though in the story, i think that is what clicked for me personally, because everything in GW2 is a part of the world building and why i always feel so invested in everything in the story and outside of story instance. If you don't feel that way maybe that is a part of it or maybe not just giving a thought about it.
According to TeaPot the devs had a prettier version of the core world but they had to scrap many things (grass, stones, and so on) bc for the tech back then many wouldn't have been able to play GW2 with all the nice things.
If you level up one of your chars to 80, you can play the map you said you think is super cool immediately, in gw2 you can play any map you want, you don't need to follow any story or anything.
If you are going for legendaries or plan to in the future just know that the first one will always be the hardest but once you do make one, it will become easier each time after. It is a time investment, so enjoy the journey and not rush to the end.
They are right about heart of Thorns being the hardest xpac. I might have got past the first zone once. I just really dont like the navigation of the zone either though it might be easier now with a flying mount.
have in mind when u decide to marathon the game, pvp.. specially ranked mode and autopmated tournaments, are a grate liquid gold income! its very fast once u get the hang of it, also for pve materials after unlockign hteir respective reward tracks
In my opinion playing in chronological order is important for the best experience even if you don't care too much about the story. I would never reccomend playing out of order unless you're not planning on sticking around very long and just want to play a particular expansion before moving on to something else. If you want to invest in the game do it right or you'll regret it later.
Binding your WASD with F for 'autoloot' will not work the same as the 'real autoloot'. Because for the normal 'F-loot' you will have to be near the loot itself. Autoloot loots everything a monster you hit drops, no matter how far away from you. So with WASD+F you wil still have to move around to get your stuff.
I way why I stuck around for so long was finding a proper guild. even though some of those guys don't play anymore. I do play with them in other games. some I've been friends with for years now.
I think the story pre the second living world release was not great... that's including the entire first game and living world season 1. It makes it harder to get into the story, but it does pick up and kinda requires some slog through the initial story.
The think that’s been blowing me away the further I’ve gotten is just how much different the game play loop is after lvl 80. 1-80 is like a taste of the combat and world, but everything after is so insane by comparison.
6:15 funnily enough, while I agree with you general point, Morrowind and Oblivion are the exact games that leave me similarly distracted from the main quest. I also don't think either of those games are good examples for a great story game.
Man, I made it to the very last 8 mastery points till 600 and... I COULD NOT FIND THE MASTERY TRACK... I found out this: Raids Unlocked after completing any encounter of either Forsaken Thicket and Bastion of the Penitent raids.[1] (This includes killing bosses or completing events, but Spirit Woods and Twisted Castle will not unlock the track.) - I never knew for literal YEARRRSSSS, GW2 just keeps giving. Can not wait till some new seasons come out.
For me a veteran of an MMO only really has to do with time spent. That does not make you great at the game at all aspects of the game but makes you a veteran still. Actually there are many veterans in Gw2 that are completionists with lots of achievement points but only oppperate in the casual open world PvE that even after thousands of hours are not actually that good at the game as the open world would rarely challenge you too much. But these people would also be an human wiki for small game details. Other veterans that are more performance focused could be on PvP that are incredible on build crafting and skill at the combat that have no idea of anything on the PvE side. Hardcore raiders that might not know any ting about the open map of the game. And you can also be Lord Hizen and be all of the above somehow but that it just rare. Or a streamer like teapot that due to the stream has like 20000+ at the game and has indeed kinda finished the game and knows every aspect of it. But that is a really high bar to put sth like a veteran at. Even veterans has their area of focus and there is not really way "finish" everything at games like GW2. So time spent can only really be the criteria.
** Some minor spoilers ahead ** I hate the main story line in GW2 it started out good but it turned to a story on rails rather quickly because you end up having a "super unique" role that you and ONLY you can except that exact role is SHARED WITH EVERY OTHER PLAYER OF THE ENTIRE WORLD. This is immersion breaking to me, because every player cannot be the one and only commander and I cringe every time I hear the word. Especially since I never wanted my character to be a commander. I think it would have been way better to focus more the main story characters and their struggles, then you are one of the heroes that helps them on their journey, NEVER define the player as a single individual, you can have a home and a family that is fine but never define it more than that. The current story would have been fine had it been a single player game but it is not it is an MMO. Instead have the player(s) follow along give aid and maybe influens the other main story characters but never give the hero a call word other than "Hero(s)" or "Friend(s)". Take after GW1 where they heroes are called just that "heroes" and when they are defined they are done so in plural not singular. The heroes that defeated the XYZ threat but never ever use "the commander" because it is immersion breaking. Also players that haven't finished the main story line will be confused about being called the commander I think I mean who do you command?.
My problem with MMO storyline is and always will be the gatekeeping of it. The story always ends somewhere and you then have to wait for the next chapter for weeks or months and by then i have with high propability forgotten what happened or do not care anymore. Star Trek Online has always been a worse example of that they have always taken so long to make new episode that when its out i don't remember anything at all what happened in last episode.
Well I went through the same issue so I ended up buying expansions and boosting 1 new character as they told me reaper is the way to go + I have seen a lot of specializations video so what I did is boosting a new reaper character and I did the pof story for mounts and hero points and I used the mounts to run around maps faster then I did hot for gliding as she said then I wanted skyscale so I did Soto story to unlock it and it ll make it life hella easier 😂😂 but sadly I couldn’t come back into core game and explore I started testing new classes and grinding for leg gears so I can test more 🤣
A lot of people playing MMOs play it just for pve and don’t like being shat on by try hards so they say not to do it because they don’t like a little bit of toxicity. Grind through the salt and you’ll enjoy the shit out of it!
What makes a vet in GW2? Getting to the point you can one-shot everything and then bitterly complaining that the game isn't built around your ability to one-shot everything.
also pvp in gw2 has a lot of what u percieved , but itis also imo, and all of the pvp players, the best combat across all games in the category..even better than dedicated pvp games, the problem, with it is the comunity beeing fed up with little attention from devs... nothing really important really ,the mode is grate if u are there for the fun and for beeing better yourself
Bro ofc GW2 is a casual mmorpg, don’t be afraid to come and chill. No no you don’t have to figure out between weapons, archetypes, understand components are gold etc. You will learn that during the journey. 😂 Typical speech of a GW2 players. I did the same thing with my friends xD
gw2 players tht try to bring you into the game atually forget about how hard and how long it took to be where we are at after so many hours of gameplay XD but becuase we have experienced the good and fun so much longer that the grind to end game seems to me like a 1% of the experiene, but yeah u are right, there is a LOT of content to get and to do b4 you get to the easy fast efortless gold/material income ... but you get there in perspective, pretty fast
Going through HoT with just glider and no mounts is an epic experience, flying mounts remove so much of the exploration of that expac
I am so glad i played all stories in order and i had that OG experience.
Mounts made every map before PoF a joke. Far more than the power creep.
Just once 😂. After that, with how vertical the maps are I can’t go back…
I still remember needing to get map complete in HOT and learning about getting to a higher platform area by jumping on a giant vine and jumping/gliding the way up to it. Now, you just skyscale.
Something I recently discovered is that there is a WvW vendor that will sell stat selectable exotics for less than 1g and a few badges of honor (WvW currency). With the WvW rush going on, you can probably get everything you want for a fully geared character in half an hour or so.
Where is this vendor?

Hey guys Lara, Guild MM, ConnorConCarne gearing guides are really good.
They also tell you which living season you really need buy (if you dont want to buy all) to get ascended trinkets easy.
that vendor is great for not so easy to get stats but the named armor is cheaper at the AH for berserker's.
for light its zehd's armor
for medium is nika's armor
for heavy is devona's armor
if you wanna know all the cheap stat combos check the wiki for "named armor"
One advice that helped me ALOT do the dailies and weeklies and whatever you can for the ''Wizards Vault'' and in there every month you can buy 4 ascended gear parts and 1 weapon part :D helpes a ton with the ''gear'' even though that as the system is so intricate and at times gear doesn't matter, it does matter also in the other way :D so yeah 4 gear parts and 1 weapon part ^^ you'll welcome me if you did not know about that :D
Fun fact, the gryphon was actually a secret mount, as it wasn't advertised with pof but sneakily hidden in the background landscape
"What do I do after I hit level 80?"
"Whatever you want, and can."
Just a few things
- Map completion.
- Poking around achievements and doing ones which look interesting. (EXCEPT DIVE MASTER.)
- Check out the mini dungeons and jumping puzzles.
- Kill a dragon.
- Kill another dragon.
- Mock Logan Thackeray.
- Violent exfoliation of Maguuma.
- Praise Joko.
- Work crafting to reach Ascended gear.
- Discover karka.
- Pay respects to the Goremonger.

@@rainbwsprkl The "Not-So-Secret"? Yeah.
I really hate that one, because it's so difficult to reach as a "reset'. But I've long since gone "stop beating your head against that particular rock and do something you enjoy". :)
The idea of you exploring Hearth of Thorns in private isn't so bad actually. But perhaps you can record the whole thing and upload the best moments?
Having guildies around can be fun, but can also ruin an experience if you never get to fight anything because 15 people kill the thing before you get there so yes, I think he'll have a lot of fun doing it both solo and in groups.
Yes do it in private without a mount :D
Best way to approach masteries imo as someone who is max mastery rank 600, is to just play through the game, don't focus just on grinding out that exp bar, just play through the content and it'll all come naturally. Pick whatever mastery looks fun to you or is required for you to progress in the story etc. The grind mentality I find will just make it feel more like a chore.
Well u might need to Grind masteries for raiding a little but Its not much right
U get masteries u use in raids And u can easily level up the others there
be careful of making more characters, i had 3 characters at first, then i thought "i should get all 9 classes", long story short you end up with one class of every gender of each race
Yes
my friend thought this way too...he now has 24 characters with every alphabets the start of their names 🤣
This is how my friend ended up with 70 characters.
I ended up with just 9 for the classes... But the problem isn't here, the problem is that I used to not have a main (aside from my first character which was an ele that I grew to not be as fond of the class after trying other classes😢 but he stayed my main in story missions)
The problem with not having a main is that my important consumables are scattered thro the characters and bank... I take too long on the loading screen deciding which character imma play this time, also takes long time to unlock all professions + builds and gear appropriate for them (which I enjoy alot tbh)
But that doesn't mean that I mastered the class, I switch so often that I forget the special mechanic for this profession or confuse this with that..
so I'm left with a decently geared character but I do a pathetic 9k damage because I'm still not familiar with the class I play with it
So I decided recently to main the most familiar classes to me and have most mastery over: revenant, ranger and necromancer, I also want to learn warrior and guardian from zero
Until some day, you find a rhythm for it and they just come more or less automatically to you as you play the game.
Great time to jump into World v World with the rush event going on. Otherwise I'm a big fractal enjoyer and starting the grind for ascended gear/agony resist is a great place to start. Really enjoying your journey so far and excited to see where you end up gravitating to
Ah, yes... Queue vs Queue.
@@Oatmeal-Savage That's so true XD Been doing it and it's been fun, but only because I come in later than prime time.
Hey Rube! For your confusion about the skyscale and griffon, the quickest and easiest way to differentiate them is this:
- the skyscale is good at _climbing_ up high things, but is terrible at actually flying and keeping altitude (it lands every 12 seconds if flying in a straight line).
You have actually seen this in real time before in one of your streams: I did it to demonstrate the griffon to you when you came to my homestead to gather materials :)
If you (or anyone else reading this) have any questions about the griffon and skyscale, I'd be more than happy to answer^^
The thing with legendaries is that the longer you played the game the faster you get them. You get a sense on how to approach the crafting. Also a lot of players dont know how to make gold so thats where those "11000 hours but 0 legendaries players" come from. Since we got the wizards vault you can easily craft them
As someone who's played GW2 since launch a couple tips:

I literally sit in Queensdale with a Mentor tag on giving tips / advice to new players :D
I get so many compliments.
GW2 is like an amusement park. You choose what you want and what you feel like doing... without any time pressure!
Basically, the simplest goal after lvl 80 is
-complete the elite specialitation (at least one) by collecting all hero point on the expansion map (because 10p for once rather than base map which 1:1)
-collect mounts on PoF expac and grind the their level to get access to more ability
-collect the mastery points
Experience all the meta event and world bosses with the Event schedule. just type "/wiki et" or "/wiki event timer" on the game chat and it will direct to the event schedule
For instance PvE, training the strikes, fractals, and raids encounter.
Man, Cole i really apreciate your content. You are very entertaining and i think you have a good head on your shoulders. Cheers mate
Yeah the Story Is pretty weak too.. Its exploration game more than anything
4:20 omg im glad i watched this lol
Your description of PvP being recognition based is 100% accurate, at least within the PvP meta's. They are not the same as PvE or WvW.
Only benefit getting mounts right away is not wasting xp in those maps, bc you need xp for masteries to level up.
Just wanted to remind you when you start the hot expansion that you are already max level, you don't need to rush through the story for you to start raiding or exploring the maps. Each map is end content so feel free to explore.
I see how RubeusCubeus plays GW2/looks GW2 videos? - I press like.
I actually think if you really like the look of later zones, you should go explore them, even if it is out of order.
Once you get the dragon, especially fully maxed passives, you won't go back. Dragon - griffin - beetle to traverse the world as you wish.
I think the story pre the second living world release was not great... that's including the entire first game and living world season 1. It makes it harder to get into the story, but it does pick up and kinda requires some slog through the initial story.
Best way to explain it is that lvl 1-80 is just a trial of the game
The think that’s been blowing me away the further I’ve gotten is just how much different the game play loop is after lvl 80. 1-80 is like a taste of the combat and world, but everything after is so insane by comparison.
6:15 funnily enough, while I agree with you general point, Morrowind and Oblivion are the exact games that leave me similarly distracted from the main quest.
I also don't think either of those games are good examples for a great story game.
Man, I made it to the very last 8 mastery points till 600 and... I COULD NOT FIND THE MASTERY TRACK... I found out this: Raids
Unlocked after completing any encounter of either Forsaken Thicket and Bastion of the Penitent raids.[1] (This includes killing bosses or completing events, but Spirit Woods and Twisted Castle will not unlock the track.) - I never knew for literal YEARRRSSSS, GW2 just keeps giving.
Laraniry where's my gold? ShhaHhHHHHHJ
** Some minor spoilers ahead **
I hate the main story line in GW2 it started out good but it turned to a story on rails rather quickly because you end up having a "super unique" role that you and ONLY you can except that exact role is SHARED WITH EVERY OTHER PLAYER OF THE ENTIRE WORLD.
I be honest i have to watch the video multiple times to understand what to do in game to get ohh i can do that
My problem with MMO storyline is and always will be the gatekeeping of it. The story always ends somewhere and you then have to wait for the next chapter for weeks or months and by then i have with high propability forgotten what happened or do not care anymore.
Star Trek Online has always been a worse example of that they have always taken so long to make new episode that when its out i don't remember anything at all what happened in last episode.
getting to Level 80 is just the tutorial
I just got my Jackal last night
My main goal is the Griffon
But that jackal took 20g off me ree
Gotta farm harder
The game only really starts at 80. Everything before that is like a tutorial almost.
Well I went through the same issue so I ended up buying expansions and boosting 1 new character as they told me reaper is the way to go + I have seen a lot of specializations video so what I did is boosting a new reaper character and I did the pof story for mounts and hero points and I used the mounts to run around maps faster then I did hot for gliding as she said then I wanted skyscale so I did Soto story to unlock it and it ll make it life hella easier 😂😂 but sadly I couldn’t come back into core game and explore I started testing new classes and grinding for leg gears so I can test more 🤣
dude i did skiped to path of fire and i dont regret it, just go for it
A friend of mine did a different class for each expansion and season
A lot of people playing MMOs play it just for pve and don’t like being shat on by try hards so they say not to do it because they don’t like a little bit of toxicity. Grind through the salt and you’ll enjoy the shit out of it!
Pocket raptors are the devil!
video on the new world aeternum when? :D
What makes a vet in GW2?
Getting to the point you can one-shot everything and then bitterly complaining that the game isn't built around your ability to one-shot everything.
Teapot kekw
1,700+ hours in gw2 and only 1 legendary 'cos that never was my goal, i just want good looking armor xD
Dude i have 90% of the mounta already withing 2 weeks ull be fine
janthir wilds raid drops with the next content update in 2 months.
also pvp in gw2 has a lot of what u percieved , but itis also imo, and all of the pvp players, the best combat across all games in the category..even better than dedicated pvp games, the problem, with it is the comunity beeing fed up with little attention from devs... nothing really important really ,the mode is grate if u are there for the fun and for beeing better yourself
Go the icebrood saga strikes and then try the raids, y will be ready
What do you do after 80? Give eve online a try :)
Level 80 means you finished the tutorial. lol
Again, you can get legendaries! I promise XD It doesn't take 2,000 hrs ;-;
I bet she talks like 4 or 5 languages but she calls the game Guilders 2 and I’m bothered.
nahhh get auto loot asap my dude
gw2 players tht try to bring you into the game atually forget about how hard and how long it took to be where we are at after so many hours of gameplay XD but becuase we have experienced the good and fun so much longer that the grind to end game seems to me like a 1% of the experiene, but yeah u are right, there is a LOT of content to get and to do b4 you get to the easy fast efortless gold/material income ... but you get there in perspective, pretty fast
like building up your Magic find percentage xd
the little hidden things
Let's do strikes mf! XD couldn't joinn tour guild., but that doesn't matter
why cant you focus on one game for more than one day? Holy shit
why play one game when one can play many game
Go the icebrood saga strikes and then try the raids, y will be ready
