Exactly what I needed. I introduced the game to a few friends a few weeks ago and they finally hit level 80 and are in need of gear so we can start doing content. Thanks Connor!
Thanks! This is an excellent guide for new players at the current state of the game! :) Well structured and easy enough to understand. Absolutly great to link for new people. :) Good job!👍
Excellent summary. You covered a lot in this video! Just a note that putting an expensive rune into karma armor isn't as bad as it used to be, now that you can easily get upgrade extractors from the Wizard's Vault.
I just wanted to say thank you , you have put an unbeliveable amount of effort in this video and I just wanted to say thanks from the deepest point of my heart.
That depends, some of the Living World maps do have some jumping puzzles where you can get some currency (like Draconis Mons). It's not the case with all of them though.
I have a question about trinkets, what should you do for trinkets when you're first starting out and you don't have access to the living world season content? (like if you haven't unlocked access to seasons 3/4 and icebrood saga maps quite yet) I've been stuck with green and yellow trinkets for way too long, and half of them are the wrong stats for my build, and things like the laurel vendor doesn't have the stat prefixes i need as a heal/support minded player
With Trinkets, it's totally ok just to buy some exotic ones off the trading post with the stats you need. Then you can upgrade then to ascended when you have the chance.
go to trading post, go to trinkets, filter by stats, level 60, then price. you'll find some cheap stuff for like 1 gold that will get you through 90% of the content
The most common Condition Damage gear (Viper's) comes from the Heart of Thorns expansion. There are a few other ways to get it nowadays as well, but pretty sure you need at least Heart of Thorns to unlock it.
By far the biggest hurdle for a new player. The sheer wealth of choice sends many back to simple MMOs where you just chase stat sticks giving tiny incremental ilvl increases. The irony is that in GW2 once you've got your gear setup, that's it, you never have to touch it again, unless you want to try a completely new build, damage type or group role. Chasing legendary gear is long term goals.
Very true, there's an insane amount of choice when it comes to gear but so many stat types basically serve 'no function' nowadays. It takes a fair bit to filter through and understand what's actually important.
thnx for ur effort but as newbie all i want to know is how to make full ascendent gear with most easy way, could u please make a video for that? i dont need options i wanna see just step by step do this then do this then do this i dont wanna see other options, it makes me confusing :D im sure u can make that kind video with ur experience easly
The wvw robot has killed exotic crafting. Unless it's for a skin, really don't buy exotics off the TP. For new players, this will save a ton of gold Ascended armour & weapons just be patent & grind all strikes - convert green to blue shards & buy ascended from eye of the north shard vendor. Takes about a month (or less if you get an ascended box drop). If you are lucky with drops but don't get Berserk when you want Harriers, just stat swop in the mystic forge (recipe on the wiki) Note, full ascended is only needed for level 3 & 4 fractals - so a month for full set when you already have exotics is fine for all other content
Totally agree, its best to gradually work on ascended gear and use currencies wherever you can. Like you said, it's only really needed for higher level Fractals.
I would advise against crafting ascended. The materials are much better used elsewhere and other ways are way cheaper and maybe even faster. Especially with wizard vault.
Very true, I haven't crafted a piece of ascended gear for years. The other ways are so much more convenient now. It's still not too bad of an option if people are struggling with raids and strikes and just need that extra piece of gear.
I would love if it was easier to get stat selectable armor. Personally I'd love it if the level up rewards got reworked so that when you hit level 80 you got to pick a single set of stat selectable armor of your choice.

You're most welcome 😁 I'm glad you found it useful. I hope your friends enjoy it as well.

Thanks so much. Great point about being able to use the upgrade extractors.
I just wanted to say thank you , you have put an unbeliveable amount of effort in this video and I just wanted to say thanks from the deepest point of my heart.

"Theres no gear grind" same breath "it can be a bit tricky to get end game gear because you gotta grind for it."
To be honest. The best guide.
Thanks so much mate 😊 I really appreciate it.

was there a jumping puzzle for map currency somewhere? (not borea marches)

Great guide.

Hi how much dps difference between enchanted gear and non enchanted gear?
So you dlc to get condition damage gear?

What are the skiins you used in the video? :))
Is there a particular set you really like? I can always jump in-game and find the names of the skins :)
Yes! The one that was used in 7:11 @@connorconcarne
+ you can also get berserker and other core stat trinkets with guild commendations ;)

New players are not going to have the badges of honor needed to purchase the gear
The thing that i dont like is that i need to Discover the whole Map again if i do a new Character and thats rlly shit Because im new

Trinkets: So if I don't have living worlds I'm just screwed?
Anet should just make it easier to get prefixes. Make it all selectable I say. It's a pain to get viper
