Big Streamers Are Playing The War Within
i started playing back in 2004 and started playing recently again. I usually do come back during a hyper burning event to get a quick fix, but this time, i kinda stayed. Now i know the nostalgia is strong for the past versions, but good lord thats all it is. The grind was terrible, the classes were not balanced at all and you were in danger of getting scammed anytime you entered Perion or Kerning City. There was not much content either once you went past a certain level. Until Ludibrium came out, all there was was Victoria Island and Orbis. What there was and is missing today is the guilds and friends, that is true. It seems to be more of a solo experience today compared to back in the day. But still, im sure most people that miss the old MS would not play it past a week if they had to do it all over again just from a gameplay standpoint alone.
hmm? Use the maple guide to fast travel!
The one thing I wanted to say, is that a lot of people say that you didn't fully grind it out if you didn't earn it yourself, but I think that's false. If you want to truly earn everything yourself there's an ironman mode waiting for you just around the corner, and second is that even if you bought the abyssal whip or any other upgrade through the Grand Exchange instead of farming for it, you still worked hard for it because maybe you focused in herb running, cooking, etc, so you still grinded for it in the form of getting the money necessary to buy it. I think most of the sentiment comes from people who have maxed bank accounts and can esentially buy 200 abyssal whips over, for them, then yes, buying that upgrade isn't going to be as rewarding as killing the boss for it and trying to get it in the chests.
i’m pretty new to the game and tbh the different tiers of RELEVANT gear and items in OSRS is staggering and kind of overwhelming. There is so much to do. I played retail WoW until the latest expac and I find the gear grind in that game much more forgettable. They do have a few specific “bis weapons” and stuff but usually it’s a minor effect that only matters for a season, a few months or so… and then a new raid comes out, and that weapon is now completely worthless. That’s one of the things i’m appreciating while working on my new osrs account. Every step of the way i unlock things that will matter forever
Dog shit game it’s taken 1200 hours of my life do not recommend
Fractals are only gatekept by agony resistance. Not dps. Nobody gives a shit about dps. It only matters if you push 75+ fractals, and even then people only care you dont fall to agony instantly.
There is a menu option to remove window transparency while in combat. Makes the windows always opaque.
Some points: -Hot doesn't require mounts. If you're going to play through the expac, you will unlock the masteries needed to traverse it (aka gliding and shroom jumping). -You can unlock both gliding and the Springer by going to EoD (4th expansion). There's a heart NPC you can talk to to unlock the Springer, no need to complete the heart. By simply entering any EoD maps, you will unlock basic gliding. Having basic gliding and Springer, on top of having a Raptor, will be way more than enough for you to handle HoT. Which, again, wasn't even made for mounts to begin with. I suggest doing this instead of trying to unlock the mounts in PoF, which will take more time. This way, you just pop into EoD very quickly, no need for quests so you just pop back out, and you have what you need.
LETS GOOOO!!!! welcome brother
24:30 I competely agree, tho I also jsut found myself not enjoying the new game, it wasn't what I loved and everythign felt much more hallow and time gated and even more lengthy. all the content I use ot love si skipped over to boost you into the arcane river, and I love that place but it is sad ppl arne't experiencing the world liek they use too, and the games a LOT more about hardocre play *fooor* sure. I loved pq's caus eit let em keep upw ith ppl wanting to grind hahaha
Runescape's world feels interconnected. Every piece of gear you get is useful for *something,* and upgrades are (mostly) obvious and how they improve your character is tangible as soon as you start using them. The majority of content sees use because you need to engage with almost all of it to progress your character. There is dead content, but it's not the majority of the game like it is with World of Warcraft. WoW abandoned its interconnectivity a long time ago. Most of the content is redundant and useless and is frankly just wasting space on your HDD. The modern game is a mad dash to the finish because as far as the game design is concerned, that's where the game really begins. Just about every item you get on your way to max level is useless aside from giving you gold. This is why leveling in WoW feels so bad, and the bandaid fix they've applied to it is to make it braindead easy so you can get through it in the least amount of time possible, which ironically makes it feel like an even bigger waste of your time.
I will always want games ot be slow, to be an achievement and feel good and the highest level isn't the most important<3
lol! Great video and commentary
Good video, hope you enjoy the game! Maybe start with fighter? Also stay with under 25 gearscore until you feel ready for some more advanced fights :)
The nostalgia... the damn nostalgia just keeps bringing me back every 12-18 months and i dive in for a week or 2. Once i've had my hit i'm good for another year
Great video. I started playing pre-Pirates release. Played on and off since, but committed to Phantom at release due to playstyle. I played on-and-off since, but really picked it back up in 2019. I have since hit 9k legion in Kronos and 8.5k in Bera, with my Kronos Phantom soon to hit 275 this week. I know that one MapleStory Worlds drops and replicates the old school server (like what Korea's MapleStory Worlds did), there will be an uptick in players.
Damn you brought back remember I has a level 140 wizard and most of my day was playing this, at some point things happen to me like I was give a admin position (There a hidden Star Icon on my character) and my job was to report people who cheat, etc. I has the ability to Hits other players like that onetime someone girlfriend hack her boyfriend account and went on rage mod trying to get his account ban and I have to log on, confront that players and kill that character, But I forgot to report that account, evenly I was in the wrong place at the time, got blame for taken other player money because they was doing a contest where that player drop a stack of money and tell the other contester to find it with in the channel, then I also forgot to tell my friend who using my account as that time about Admin position, he make have abuse it and got report by other players while was at works.
Never forget that Tectone thought WW2 was in the 1800s
this isn't steak and eggs buddy
perfect yap session to have on my second monitor while leveling up my wc hahah, jokes aside, loved the vid mate. Cheers!
I genuinely believe that, nexon took this route because they know that their audience is growing up as well, and to retain the older player base they had to make adjustments for us adults. Do I like it? I’m indifferent, but I can see it a success from what im seeing considering GMS reboot still has a very strong player base lol overall 4/5 game
Been playing this since way early on, like the pre steam playtests when the only way to get it was through torrents provided by the devs themselves. I love this game because there are so so many little tips and tricks to get better at the game, feels like the skill cieling is infinite without being unattainable. I love this game.
its the old school maplestory vibe, its amazing
Got 4k hrs on steam probably more since I've played on and off since 2006. Imo the game is fun and has only gotten better. Watching this game grow has been amazing. Playing Reboot (Hyperion) sorta semi hardcore was a great experience as well and the community has been amazing. It has kinda fizzled out since the launch of the server but progressing pretty close to everyone else doing bosses, training, etc is probably the most fun I've had in an mmo in awhile. I'm glad it's this one since there's so much nostalgia tied to it.
A great guide youtuber is Ryan6daysaweek if you have any questions about the game theres a good chance hes covered it.
this was my prime afterschool activity. i remember waking up at 6am to play on the weekends.
I totally get making stuff way more painful on yourself just for fun. Making something you know in and out a fresh and incredibly hard challange can be very refreshing. Thats why i try to do some Raid encounters with the minimal amount of people possible. For example i did one of Gw2s Raid end bosses with 3 people instead of the normal 10. Rarely anything beats the joy you feel when you finally get it done after suffering through hours and hours prior to that : )
Most basic way to describe this game is its like tarkov with its difficutly and how punishing it can be but its really a lot of fun its still pretty new and the devs have had a lot of problems fighting copyright battles in korea and the US but theyre trying their hardest to make this game amazing. Its so much fun and escaping with a good haul is like crack. Watch some guides from other youtubers and keep delving brother.
The game has come a long way from where it began but honestly the more you watch and play the better youll understand dodging and baiting attacks, spacing, equipment and spells. Use M for the map when in dungeon itll help a ton blue markers on the map are escapes so plan your run by plotting a path to the nearest escape and clear all mobs on the way.
I played MapleStory very early on and stopped playing before the big bang. I tried to play it a few months ago, and other than the game and screen being bloated with 20 years of added systems, I found the worst part to be how they design the world. It seems to be mostly similar, small maps with very lazily placed platforms filled with mobs― clearly, the once thought out design of Victoria Island and how the main cities connected with each other and Sleepywood was replaced with maps meant to optimise wiping the whole screen with one character. Could MapleStory have avoided its current state with 20 years of powercreep? Is the current state of MapleStory the result of following where the money comes from (whales)? Were the solo gameplay decisions forced because of dwindling player numbers? Maybe, maybe not. However, I do think that in a vacuum, core gameplay decisions could have been made to keep the spirit of the game from the early days alive well into the future. The whole idea of replacing big maps with unique layouts, where multiple players could play in at once and replacing it with the previously mentioned gameplay kills the world, for me. The idea that wiping screens was objectively the inevitable endgame to MapleStory is just false. There are many ways to make gaining EXP as efficient without it coming down to killing 100 mobs at once and doing 2 billion damage hits. I feel like they got lazy, and, instead of finding interesting ways to upgrade the existing classes, they decided to: 1) Make every class an atomic bomb eyesore map-clearer (watchout, 7th job might clear the entire server) and 2) release dozens of new classes for novelty without thinking of the long term effects on every other class. I don't care if people like the current state of the game, but when people tell me that I'm only being nostalgic about the past and that it wasn't that good, remember that you're spending all your time solo-clearing an empty map is a lifeless, supposed MMORPG. It's not any less grindy, it just lost its charm.
Niru is #1 worldwide :)
I absolutely love maplestory and have been actively since the beginning and ive seen every patch and update
Hey everyone I am a returning player from years ago because I've played on and off wow for so many years always getting bored and returning or different mmos and your right there are very hostile people in wow ..coming back to gw2 was really nice such a great community I've just started with hubby last week :) I have questions though ! I got janthir wilds for myself (hubby won't get it yet),how do i access my homestead ? Someone please help me understand how 😅I've upgraded to 80 on one to try and get to it and I have no clue 😭
If you drop a progression series i’ll drop a sub
17:46 i bet the reason the game shifted from OSMS, to post big bang ideology is because Korean MS was always 6 months ahead, and typically korean gamers are much more hard core than anyone else. So in KMS they were probably like "wow ok pink bean/horntail are really challenging and give good rewards what percentage of players reach that content" and in GMS that percentage of people that reached levels to participate in that content was literally probably 0.5% of total players. So their decision was do they keep developing deep end game content when a fraction of a percentage of the players even got to experience it
LF>TRACK@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
When you start out, you feel lost. While there is always something to learn, there will come a point where you start to grasp the game. Finding a good community definitely speeds up that process.
I just started a new explorer character for the first time since maybe 2011, and when I tell you I didn't recognize a SINGLE skill, animation, or ability from a class I've known since 2006 I was actually quite sad. Almost triggered me to download an old school server because if it is completely unrecognizable from my nostalgia it's not going to captivate me like it did in 06
The maple community is self sabotaging. If you try to bring it up in any official maple forum, youll get locked and told "you think you want it but you dont". Its so sad because Oldschool Maple would smash the numbers current maple has.
I've got 4k-5k hours in RS3 and was near maxed by the time I stopped playing in 2018/2019ish. it's a quality game, but for me one of the biggest things that made me leave was all the dailies or time gated things. by the end my play sessions were "log in, do the dailies, do all the D&Ds you need to get the massive exp drops, go on a farming run, and log out". which obviously is something you can choose to avoid, but the feeling of being forced into dailyscape just to keep up felt exhausting 😮💨 that + mtx fatigue on top of that (since I wasn't playing an iron at the time) just ultimately pushed me away from the game. I'm glad you're enjoying it with a fresh set of eyes tho! there's a ton of really great content to sink your teeth into
Definitely not worth playing modern ms. Power creeping is insane now and inflation is thru the roof on every server. Even more of a gamble now then it was back then
Is this better than 8hr grinds per level, 2 hr travel times between continents, and early predatory monetization strategies? I don't love modern maple as much as my nostalgia brain loved old school maple, BUT it's definitely engaging even though it's a different type of engagement than OSMS
im having a blast playing my new ironman! just got 60 prayer and dragon defender
I have been playing GW2 since early access and I'm still obsessed with it. No one does special events like this game and they're still fun all these years later.
The good old days of early 2000s.
Monster Carnival was Gambit years before Gambit, but actually fun
MAPLE KOMBAT LET'SGOOO
We need a maple series
Runescape is actually the only game that feels like MMO. I started runescape 10 weeks ago. I love it. Very slow but so much fun.
I must say, I really enjoy watching someone that has never played before and never looked anything up. Such an organic way to experience a new game. So many little errors and missed tech... really cool! lol brings me back!
Love the Maple videos! Just started from scratch yesterday, leveling random characters to 70/120 for links. Can't wait to find a main and just grind and chill.
Lame. Getting 18 characters to lv 100+ in a week is such a waste of time. Links aint gonna matter if you dont have 50bill layin around. Dont forget the 100s you gotta spend on cubes
@@absolutelypro4612This isn't even entirely true, unless you want to solo hard/chaos end game bosses. The events give stuff away that even the most funded players would have drooled at 5 years ago. Legion and link can propel your characters to levels capable of handling mid game bosses, which can hypothetically be the baseline for doing end game with groups. Look I don't think it's a perfect system, but it's far improved from 5-8yrs ago where if you didn't spend $6000 on cubes you physically couldn't play the end game stuff. There's actually a pretty solid avenue to access all the content without selling your kidneys
Waste of time is subjective, it's not a waste of time if it's what I want to do. Not to mention it all makes your account stronger, I get to try different classes and it's all progression. I played a while ago, it's not hard to fund a character with a proper boss mule set up and all that. Just time consuming but every MMO is time consuming. If I stop enjoying myself I'll stop playing, simple as that.
You should put your brightness to the max, I promess it's still quiet dark, and everybody I know plays that way. Also, as for your perks and skills, I know right now the most popular warlock build uses a perk that makes your curses heal you, with curse of pain and another one to stack the effect twice. Also, their second skill is usually phantomize, because it's the best to escape.
You can slot more spells by having more memory capacity, it is a stat influenced by your knowledge. If you haven't already done so, you should visit the squire to set your starting gear, it will allow you to try a few things for free. Also, you can get more free stuff from your squire by completing quests for the other merchants. Just look for the ones rewarding affinity (the first step would of course be to go to your quests and accept them all, if not already done). As for the mobs, the centipede and the ice harpy are harder mobs, they are definitely not noob friendly. There is no shame in running from them. If you meet a player, try crouching repeatedly. If they crouch-spam too, you're good, just don't get too close. If not, run, or fight.
And one last thing, since you are on a free account, if you try changing your class, you will first need to delete your character, losing all of your progress and bank.
It's truly a great game. Love it.
If you've ever tired of losing over and over, ask one of your more experience viewer! There's a lot of complexity in the game, especially in pvp. Having someone to help makes it more interesting. But not now, right now, you're experiencing it as intended, I think. I hope you find those extractions!
but if you want a bit of help, right away : Bandages restore recoverable health. Recoverable health is health you can recover through bandages or sitting, and is the pale red in your health bar. The black one, you need healing spells, a potion, a campfire or a healing shrine. You can also shift click (I think?) to transfer item to your inventory while looting. Stackable items will automatically stack, to save space.
