- I truly believe that TLR made fluid adjustment on this rc but after running the rc and hearing all the gear noises idk so let’s tear into the 3 differentials and see what’s going on I show you how to remove and fill fluids in the differential in this video let’s see what’s inside these differentials ?
Crazy what’s involved in getting the rc prepped that the factory doesn’t do. Part of Arrma ownership I guess....
Great video, I too learn ALOT from your vids, sir.....
Great video! My Typhon TLR rtr version came packed with diff fluid front rear and center. Very happy! Not sure of the weight but seemed pretty thick.
Nice 👍
My Typhon TLR came with full fluids in all the diff’s. Mine is only a few weeks old so they must have fixed the issue. I’ve done extensive tuning, tire changes, upgraded structural components, upgraded transmitter/receiver, Power Hobby 579mg servo, dual fans on the motor, changed shock oils, swapped from plastic to aluminum Diff housings, front, center and rear including the bulk heads, my TLR is a beast on and off the track! I’ve seen more and more out there winning and competing very well. Love my TLR!
High bight track?? I race low and she's a handful... the weight... 3864 g. Wheels batteries... No body...
the Guru of RC detail. like i said when the bell goes of for the new vids im on it. LOVE IT!! saves me alot of time on the learning curve thanks again.
Just subscribed Earl. I just recieved my TLR typhon. Absolutley love it, but yes you still need to give it a good once over to make sure everything is ready for that power. Excellent video my brother, i love the rubber band idea. So glad i found your channel. Ill be watching all vids
Great video Earl like I said before and I'll say it again I always learn something every time you have a wrench video Love it 🛠️🔧🛠️👍
Great video diff maintenance is something that is very important. Your videos on showing how to break them down and what fluid to use is a great help to a lot of us👊👊💯💯
Thank you I've been wondering how to set up for racing and you nailed it !!! 100 center 3 rear 10 front beautiful
Great video and learning experience, thank you Earl for all the time you put into these very informative video.
Great Job answers a lot I need to know.
Thanks
Bobby
This is all to common to find little to no fluid in the diffs. The RTR newbies have no idea until their diffs fail. Good stuff, thanks Earl.👍
It's a shame that the diffs ain't properly packed out the factory, tbh for the cost of them they really should be spot on 👌 nowt like getting a problem because low fluids and being left feeling deflated because something failed that really shouldn't have.
Great vid as always earl 👌
The picture quality at the end of this video was great
Thanks 🙏
Can't wait for the running video since you oiled the diffs . Great video ✌
Not shocked, did mine before installing anything. Just habit since my first Senton couple years ago.
Very interesting like watching your videos like this one
Hey Earl, to lower the roll center you have to mount the arms in a lower position! It’s the opposite way you expect it in the video. I’m not a track racer too, but I’m always interested in new informations🧐 so it’s called jacking force and has to do with the angle of the suspension arms! There are a few good videos out for explaining what forces causing which effects ☝🏻For a track racer and high speed turns you should pick a setup to drive ‚in the track‘.
It rolled over easy and it’s all the way down 🤔
@@earlmoorhead5555 I just had the front and rear completely taken apart to switch out to hot racing front and rear diff covers and bulkheads. I have all these inserts that can change the angle or toe in or toe out. They were very hard to change the angle from the straight position to an angled position and keeping the front and rear pin holders to bolt in. Any recommendations on that?
Earl got to say love all your wrenching vidsand running love watching you man you are very entertaining keep up the good hard work later and stay safe 😎😎
Great video Earl 💪🍻
The durango dex8 has the top links rear hubs inner hole.... have you tried putting inner hole link?
The exbs are now fixed with the new revision. But to be extra safe i always Run an alluminum housing on the rear diffs. Lucky i didnt experience any of these issues. I didnt run the rear open diff on my exb until i got the shims. I ran an v4 one in the front and lets just say it was garbage. The drives
Cups didnt want to come out because the holes stretched and i got a teeth missing somehow. My exb diffs are still the ones that came with it and i couldnt be happier. Everything comes apart without any issues. I just had to replace a 2 pins that looked flatten down.
The RTR diffs are fine in trucks like the mojave and the typhon who doesnt have massive torque
I believe it right by moving the pIvot points up on the links it will give some resistance on the control arms and keep the car a little more planted. I wish I could remember that RUclips channel with the guy who's an ex team racer and he shows and talks about how cars with a pillow ball setup tense to over steer and the back of the cars kick out in the back a lot easier and more often then cars that don't have that system.if I can find it. I'll put the link in one of ur video's
Yes I watch that guy about six month ago he never raced pivot balls but believed he could stop the over steering issue with a few basic adjustment 👍👍
Beautiful man
Tuned to perfection…
Yep, none in my TLR either. At least they are consistent. Also weird as Arrma don't mind giving us all extra loctite on every bolt. 🤣👍
That's a heavy sway bar and like the way the diffs come out.
Hi Earl.. QUESTION: Ive bought a new V5 Typhon and also a new Hobbywing EzRun Max6 4985SL 1650Kv Brushless 160A Motor and ESC Combo. Running a 21T Pinion, Stock Spur... To get her to handle well ( like driving, not bashing ) Would you still recommend these Oil weights bro? or Something different to try? Thanks buddy.
Weather plays a big part in shock oils California very hot and thicker fluids a must here
@@earlmoorhead5555 Yeah it gets very hot here in Western Australia too mate
@@Top-Jimmy I’d go thick the hotter it get we are around 110F degrees
Think this would be a good starter for racing?
Idk I haven’t raced a track with a gas rc
great video. do you think the 6s exb rear differential will fit the typhon v5 6s rear?
Yes there all the same housings
do you think by installing exb differentials in the front and the rear of a typhon v5 6s will perform better than the stock differentials?
@@Northside910 no as those differential have many issues and take metal diff housing to make them hold up I don’t think so you can tune your diff to give you a solid buggy
Wait did u break the pin?? It shouldnt be able to come out unless you remove the set screw
No on a none LSD differential you don’t need to remove the screw the pins are short 👍👍
Hi nice videos i got a question could you please tell me what diff fluids you are running front center and rear
Does not show me what rc your looking at 🤷🏻♂️
@@earlmoorhead5555 arrma typhon tlr tuned
@@earlmoorhead5555 arrma typhon tlr tuned
Hello..I have the tlr typhone...will 200k be ok for center diff?? Thanks
What weather conditions like where your running cold hot ?
@@earlmoorhead5555 I'm in Nashville TN..it's cool right now, but will be running it more when Spring come back...We only be doing speed runs, in large empty parking lots
@@andrataylor6070 so I’d run around 50k to keep it from riding wheelies all over the place most I’d run is 80k for the center diff
@@earlmoorhead5555 ok..Thanks! I added 200k in it already... should I take it out, and put 80k in it?
@andrataylor6070 run it you might be ok with all the power to the rear I feel it will spin out easier pulling the trigger hard but check it out if you want a more stable rc go thinner 👌
Are those arrma gears or losi gears and do they look beefier?
Stock arrma gears
Makes me wonder if Losi really did the physical tuning, or if they just specified the setup and provided TLR parts. At any rate, from watching your experiences with various RC’s, it seems like you always need to take these cars apart and go over them before you trust anything.
Yes I figured paying for a tuned rc as they call it the differential would be set up guess I was wrong 💯
@@earlmoorhead5555 you would think so. It is disappointing, as well as all the overtightened screws. You’d be better off if they just sent a box of parts that need assembly.
Yes 💯
Your common sense is correct. The more angle less body roll. 3k seems light in the rear for a 1/8 buggy? For a race track 3k, heavier for street no?
It is light but I’m really trying to keep it planted rather then rolling over I’ll probably go into the diff a few more times as no fluid did work ok ✅
@@earlmoorhead5555 just feeling it out. The outer adjustments on the shock tower should stiffen the suspension and sit a little higher if I remember correctly? Lots of tuning
Your going to enjoy the tinkering!
Quick tip for content of how to setup the suspension- jqracingtv has posted a video 3 weeks ago 👍🏻 There’s some basic information !
Being in an alignment teck certified I’m a hands on type as I have basic knowledge of how suspension should work but thanks 🙏
Great video!
My exb only took a alluminum rear diff case and that was the end of it🤣
Tx Earl love your channel please advice in the best fluids for arrma kraton 6s v5 rtr for general bashing. Ps im new to the hobby.
I show the Kraton ExB set up on the diffs I use 35 k rear 1 million center 50 k front
@@earlmoorhead5555 thank you buddy and keep up the good channel. All the way from South Africa.
Thanks
The center had 7k stock i think
Looks like all had just a little grease 👍👍
whats your thoughts on the hot racing differential front and rear housing for the typon 6s?
I used it on my ExB Kraton 6s and seemed to fix the issue of pulling the diff cover bolts out 👍⚠️
I really would have thought those diffs would be full!! Craziness. Quality control?? 😏
I feel it’s just grease to keep it from melting on the first few runs 👍👍
@@earlmoorhead5555 Yes. I bet Losi gave them a blueprint for the car and arrma is just going by that.
I haven't had a single issue with my k8 diffs
8s line works good 6s ExB line is terrible
👍👋👊💯
lots of tuned race buggies use light diff fluids compared to factory filled bashers..but i would have thought they would atleast be filled correctly....kinda disappointed in arrma.
my TLR/Typhon is sitting in the box still....i guess i will pull all the diffs out to confirm...
Yes I’d check and my front needed one shim maybe from hitting the trees 😜
@@earlmoorhead5555 were you able to lower the rear wing down? There's adjustment for that?
Does look a little to high..
@@NoTekRc yes lowered it and moved it back 👍👍
I always wrench by hand
😸✌🏻
I'm taking my team corally spark to the track this year to kick some arrmas ass
😭, not again Arrma
Roll center
I do believe you should use hand tools not some battery-operated thing don't forget you're working with plastic
I keep wondering who buys that unicorn puke paint scheme.
You dont even know how to properly do a differential maintenance 😅
The tlr tuned part is a joke. They slapped their name on it and called it good. Shame cause losi kits are awesome but this is trash
