I know you want to keep it but also get rid of that “air box” either make one with a pod filter or buy a proper panel filter style box they flow way better
Hey mate, turbo too big too. At 5psi there's not much heat generated from compressed air so you could clean take the intercooler out and temporary test
Am betting that turbo set up was an absolute fortune and on an aged engine. Personally I would love to do this to my 80 but to me, it’s simply not worth it. The 80 is not a performance machine and is extremely capable in stock form. Mine is totally stock and 27 years old with a tested 0-60 mph of just under 10 seconds. OK, I accept I am in the U.K. which has no ‘outback’ so my driving is mainly on road. That’s not to say it never been off road in quite extreme circumstances. However, I thank you for your vid as your set up is awesome but has put my mind to rest over ever fitting a turbo to mine. Thank you.
If the engine is well looked after and healthy then you could get 10-15psi without any interval work. I’d suggest focusing on flow so getting a big intercooler, piping etc. Definitely replace your spark plugs and for a bit of reassurance, upgrade your head studs.
Silicone intake hose couplers? an area having vacuum doesnt like stretchy materials, it could reduce the diameter of the tube at the bends under boost and high vacuum turbo intake side
With that exact same turbo kit mine made 387hp which is about 288kw. I’m even using a shitty eBay front mount 😂 that intercooler setup must be absolutely insane on how restrictive it is. Also your intake would be another contributing factor on loss of power. Sadly it will have to be re done. Bummer
@@rigitup yeah I’d be gutted if I saw those numbers. But atleast you know it’s not internal issue with rings etc. it’s a decent size turbo it needs to breath. If your on a budget the 3/5” universal intercooler off eBay cost around $300 from memory also comes with all the pipes. It’s a direct fit into the front grill and won’t have to do essentially any chopping.
It deserves a decent turbo kit mate not a rubbish one they are a quality car and engine. I have same but in manual and I’m looking at a precision with 6boost etc. Still looking good tho 👍
You don't need to spend money to make power, get rid of that horrible looking water to air intercooler and fit a front mount will completely change that setup.
You’re doing great on your build. Love seeing all the updates
Even a little bit of boost would help (me) compensate for driving at high altitude. Awesome video, keep them coming.
Re Gear and convert the car to part time Aka 2WD it made mine feel like a race car
I bloody love you mate you’re just getting so good at your show you got this in the bag! Epic video!
Legend mate, thanks!
I think if you put a cross country intercooler and a 4 inch stano snorkel on you won't regret it
Will a snorkel help with air intake for turbo?
hey mate, just a tip, dont install a catch can. it will create positive pressure in your engine and blow seals. love the vids man. keep it up
Cheers mate
Love the rig mate..new subscriber

Yeah over time I’ll work up to a proper setup
Agreed I ran one of those sas intakes and after a month it sucked the filter element into the intake pipe throttle body caught it 😳
Exactly on my list for the 80.

Only strife is out of the compressor wheel u could have just welded on a 90° rather than that little jiggly pipe??
hey bro ive got a fz over here in the states, and im thinking about putting in a cx trubo kit is there any work i should do as prep?

What intercooler do you recommend?@@rigitup
@@reddragonwhiskey I’d recommend plazmaman or pwr, front mount is best.
Would this engine be a good one for a drift project? A friend of mine has one of these 1fz engines and is planning to swap his rx8.. lol
Yes definitely, loads of potential power and loves rpm. Only downside is engine size.
Does CX racing sell a intercooler? Orbdoes it come with turbo kit?
It came with the kit
Dude...stress engine with decent manifold the right turbo and custom inlet easily make 498hp..
What is the green liquid at @2:33 ?
Coolant concentrate
What Headers are you running? They look like the same as mine i got the CX 3" headers + downpipe
Yeah cx high mount with 3” downpipe
@@rigitup nice
Fz 80 or 80 series. Slow or slower.
Did you change the ecu or is it still factory?
Link ecu

Yeah mate, the turbo should do just fine with a front mount. Thanks for the info, gives me hope for good power.

@@criticaldawg love the advice mate, I’ll definitely be getting one down the track
Your funny

Yeah long term would like a Garrett. I’ll get there, cheers.
@@rigitup I appreciate the vids too thanks 😊
Made my own high mount definitely the best thing ever done built for about $300 instead of 1200
