Thanks for the tips, very useful! As a beginner, I downloaded the app 6 month later from your video. I could not find the stablization button, but there is a "Motion ND button. Are they the same? Thanks!
The thing you're forgetting in regards to ProRes, is yes, its less compressed so the overall video quality will be higher than the other available codecs, but more importantly, because its less compressed it doesn't require the same amount of processing power decoding the clip when working with it in an NLE. This makes for a significantly smoother editing experience and why one of the standard codecs for proxies is ProRes.
I think ProRes is for uncompressed editing so that you don't compress the video twice. I also think it's easier to edit with ProRes for slower computers.
Just a comment: Since we are watching this on youtube, and the video gets compressed AGAIN when uploading to youtube, the side by side comparisons of high bitrates (that are certainly higher than youtube?) are almost pointless, unless I'm missing something. (Yes a big difference might still be noticeable if the youtube compression is applied evenly but that's kinda random) For any real comparison you'd have to provide download links for the actual example files you created, so the audience can view them offline on their actual device. Of course the difference was still obvious with the 1 mbps example because that's a very low bitrate.
Thank you. I am soooo new at this whole editing thing. Very helpful!!!! Question: if I'm going to edit my footage for captions and such in capcut, should I be working with a ProRes file? I'm guessing it might not be necessary.
no problem, glad u found it useful 😎 tbh it doesn’t make any difference for captions BUT your file sizes will be so much bigger working with ProRes so just keep that in mind, I personally don’t use ProRes files for that reason. so in short, you’ll be fine working with normal files for captions. good luck with it!
Great vid. In the app they have a snap feature but it doesn't export in 4k when I tried. Does the desktop app have that feature? If not, is it possible to export snap clips in 4k on the mobile app? I couldn't find any info on this. Thanks.
Great video,,, thanks so much for sharing,,,, has now allowed me to correctly export from Insta360 so that my Davinci Resolve studio recognizes the file and not the dreaded red notice "Offline Media" Note: my Samsung Flexbook laptop and my Samsung Galaxy phone both heat up very fast while running Insta360 Studio....
thanks 😎 glad it helped u out! oh yeah, the fan on my MacBook goes absolutely crazy as soon as I open the insta360 studio, I find having no other apps open helps slightly
Thanks a lot for this. However, my footage still looks pixelated/low quality. I film in 5.7K, in very good lighting, but after the exports it looks pixelated. Any experience with this?
Hi, thanks for your video. I have exported in ProRes, but when it was completed, a 25min video, the wait was very long, I can't play it anywhere, the computer wont play it, the phone, anything. and now because it was completed, insta360 studio no longer has the project available, I need to recreate it or what? I tried uploading to youtube which is what I wanted in the first place, but youtube won't take it either, any suggestions?
Hi, can you make a similar video with Insta360 Studio version 4.9.0? Few changes are there. Like "Clarity" option is not there. "ND" filter is added there
I use a "Insta360 one rs 1-inch 360 edition" that films in 6k What's the point with filming in 6k if I only (as some people say) should put the export option an 4k? Why not export in a higher resolution?
ive set this up to the settings you suggest,i havent opened the studio app for a while so needed updated, ive went to upload a video ive edited and it wont upload, comes up with error code and when i put cursor over code it says "code 12 display memory insufficent turn off hardware decoding/coding for player, any idea how to do this or does it sound like i dont have enough memory left on laptop?
When you import the .insv files directly from the Insta360 and then export it, that's called reframing, right? And if you open the exported video with "DaVinci Resolve," for instance, is it possible to edit the video by changing the point of view as in a 360 video, or is that not possible? Because Adobe Premiere allows importing these .insv files, but DaVinci doesn't. Thanks
yes, once u export the video from the studio that’s the reframed video (as long as u export the reframed version and not the 360 version) I don’t use Davinci so I can’t really comment too much on that but from what I understand there’s only currently a plug in for premiere which allows u to do the reframing like u can inside the studio but there isn’t one for davinci. so, if ur main editor is davinci then u would need to reframe the footage inside the insta360 studio first and then export it but if ur using premiere u can reframe the footage directly inside there
If you were reframing in the studio and then completing your main edit in premier pro, should we export in 4k or just 2k? Many thanks for all your great videos ❤
Nope, makes a big difference because it'll only be 2k. If you try to scale it up to 4k then you're trying to access data that doesn't exist. Essentially, it'll be lower res. However, if you scaled 4k down to a 2k Timeline then it'll look a bit better.@@malcolmmoore
@@harry_rambles but isn't insta360 footage only 1080 anyways? I know that it's 5.7k, but once you've cropped into your desired FOV it's only 1080. Or maybe a bit higher but definitely not 4k, thus in upscaling to 4k all you're doing there is the same thing and trying to access data that isn't there. I actually just tested it out as well. I exported from insta360 in 1440 and in 4k and when the 1440 is upped to 4k, or when the 4k is scaled down to 1440, when I zoom in to compare the pixels they are exactly the same. Maybe I'm missing something, but apart from a larger file size in 4k, and the ability for RUclips to think you've uploaded a 4k file just because you've uploaded a frame size of 4k, I couldn't see any differences!
You might be right! I'm only new to the Insta360 and thought it upscales to 4k if you want that resolution, but so long as it's no higher than what was recorded. No idea really. I admit defeat haha, I need to do more research. But the point of scaling 2k to 4k and the like in Prem, DaVinci etc.. then it'll just look low res for sure. @@malcolmmoore
Hi James, newbie Go 3 user here. some video formats says PRO_VID, and when exported to adobe premiere pro, it just displays a green screen. How do I properly export these types of Go 3 footage to premiere pro? hoping for your advise. thanks!
hey, so inside premiere if u go into ur project settings > general and change the renderer to software ‘mercury playback engine software only’ that should fix the green video issue
I really appreciate the info on this vodeo, BIGHELP! Bro how about different resolution like 9:16, 1:1 what should be the resolution. And from what i've heard, why export it as 4k if it's maximum export is 1080p only? from 5.7k 360 video?
No probs man 😀 for 9:16 it'll be 1080 x 1920 and for 1:1 it'll be 1080 x 1080... exporting in the 4k dimensions is the most popular way of exporting and what i export most my clips in but it obvs depends on what ur using the final clips for which is why it's good to be able to choose the dimensions yourself
hi sir thank you so much, can you please do a video on how to force 360 studio to use my gpu, cpu usage is 100% gpu is sitting at 12% its a nvidia gtx 3060
I export my videos to RUclips at 2160p , bitrate 50mps , H.265. and when they play on RUclips they default to 720p or 1440 . they never default to 2160p. If I manually change it it plays it with no issue and the quality is significantly noticeable. It's not my connection as all other videos , this one for example automatically plays at 2160. Why could this be ? its very frustrating .
thanks! 😊 u can defo lower the bitrate to reduce the overall file size but in my experience lowering the bitrate on anything by a substantial amount will have an impact on the quality of the final vid
Good timing because just asked about changing. I tried 1080, 720, 480 and unfortunately not even 360 res worked; Bummer that Insta360 removed option to add music. Plus side is at least the app works for me
I don't have remove grain option anymore...i think was good solution for dark video...anyway, my big deal is: export in normal FullHD or upscale to 4K? to put video on youtube (that i always see with grain once i uploaded, FullHD or 4K is similar)
a few of things… are u keeping the studio open when ur exporting? as I found it interrupted the export on some occasions if I went on another program. secondly, have u got enough space for the export and thirdly is the studio up to date?

Thanks for the tips, very useful! As a beginner, I downloaded the app 6 month later from your video. I could not find the stablization button, but there is a "Motion ND button. Are they the same? Thanks!
Motion ND is a filter that essentially slightly blurs the background to make fast moving scenes (think on a motorcycle) look more natural/better.
