His favorite songs from the album were "I feel better" and this song. A song about finding the right person to be in a relationship with and how they literally save us. "Save Me," is really an awesome song and video that expresses my experience with love, exactly to a T.
This song means so much more to me now then it did last year when I first heard it. I know what the words truly mean. But now I know that I can only save myself...the lonely life is life.
I just love the way Gotye's mind works and I love the innovation he used here with the thumb piano. No-one has ever heard that instrument played in that fashion before - brilliance. Can't wait to see what he comes out with next...
This always makes me think about the Iron Giant at the end when he's alive an putting himself back together in the snow. I love this song Gotye will always be one of my favorite artists.
This is happening to me in this exact moment. I started rewatching "Somebody That I Used to Know", and then ended up watching 6 or 7 of his music videos in a row. Jesus, he is SO good!
Oh my god... Gotye really hit the mark with this song, So beautiful, so much meaning, the art direction, the music direction, all matching perfectly. It was amazing, I almost cried because of how meaningful it is.
The greatness of this piece comes from the fact of how many interpretations comes to different people depending of their lives stories. For me this is a song about God in my life...

This so accurately portrays my depression. The struggle to just pull myself together in the morning and put one foot in front of the other. Then I see the smile of a person I care for and I almost feel alive again only to fall apart later.
This might seem the happiest, but I read that he was depressed at a time in his life, I've been a fan for 10 years. And going through depression, I can relate to this.
+Miriam Aharon Really? Well, this video is ok, but have you seen "State of the art" or "Coming home"? They are simply scary. D: Even "Easy way out" that is brilliant and I really love. Let's face it: most of Gotye's video are creepy or weird. But of course, there are some beautiful ones like "Bronte" or "Save me". :) Anyway, I prefer to just listen, but not watch :^)
+Sun Light I love all his music videos. This just happened to be the one i commented on. And yes, i agree it should be listened to more than watched. But watching it every now then reminds me how good the song is, because it definitely does add another element.
+Sun Light Why would you call someone 'strange' for enjoying Art that differs from your choice of 'likeable' Art style? The beauty in this world is that we're all different - absolutely nothing wrong with that.
I can’t stress enough how true his lyrics are. Every time I listen to it, I think of my boyfriend because he saved me. I honestly couldn’t stand myself at all. I didn’t like my weight, the fact that no guy would pay attention to me, how all of my friends were prettier and smaller than I was (literally all of them), not to even start with how society views me as a black women. Then I found my boyfriend and he destroyed every negative thought I had about myself. He made me forget about all those people in my past that helped me think I was less of a decent human. Every time I hear this song, I think of how I was lucky enough to find the love of my life.
No matter the years, I'm still in love with this song!!! I love Gotye's music. I admire his creativity and all the amazing lyrics and sounds that he gave us in every song.

to be honest, i can not listen to this song, can't add it to my favorites on spotify, because it sparks too many emotions at once. it somehow makes me nauseated... anyone else? listened as a kid so the nostalgia. gotyes voice, that freaking voice. the instrumentation. everything about it, i cant explain.
2023 update: i dont feel that much these days
h I relate to this. Thought I was the only one
rececently i found an mp3 player that i lost about 5 years ago. perfectly working, all songs. listening to it sparks so much nostalgia
i’m in the same boat, haven’t listened to gotye since i was a kid and jeez the meaning of this song really flew over my head
This brings back memories. I used to watch all of Goyte's videos with my dad, sometimes my mom, and my siblings.
A song about finding the right person to be in a relationship with and how they literally save us. "Save Me," is really an awesome song and video that expresses my experience with love, exactly to a T.
this man needs more recognition and accolades, he pours blood, sweat, and tears into everything he makes.
This masterpiece never fails to bring me to tears... So touching and deep..
The only thing that could possibly make 2020 bearable is if Gotye suddenly dropped another album. Come on Gotye, save me 😉
Yes
This song means so much more to me now then it did last year when I first heard it. I know what the words truly mean. But now I know that I can only save myself...the lonely life is life.
I was a teen when I first heard this and didn’t know why I was happy crying. Now I know why and love it still
Every single gotye song must be listened to while wearing headphones, or you're truly missing out on the full experience
It's 2020 and I'm sad you didn't make more music. But i still come here to listen to this masterpiece.
This song has more feelings than some Families would give to it’s members... I love this guy’s songs honestly. Real Talent.
My most favorite song from this album ❤️❤️❤️
Wow, someone who can actually make good music for once
Gotye has that gift to connect his music videos with his lyrics.
Extraordinário!!! ... é única palavra que me vem a mente quando vejo esse clipe!
I just love the way Gotye's mind works and I love the innovation he used here with the thumb piano. No-one has ever heard that instrument played in that fashion before - brilliance.
Can't wait to see what he comes out with next...
2020
A underrated masterpiece
Hope Gotye comes back
A mother's love for her Son, unconditional love. Guidance, support, proving he is worthy. . I love my SON.
This always makes me think about the Iron Giant at the end when he's alive an putting himself back together in the snow. I love this song Gotye will always be one of my favorite artists.
Fifth song i listen from this gotye. All great. My god i buy his album right now.

This is happening to me in this exact moment. I started rewatching "Somebody That I Used to Know", and then ended up watching 6 or 7 of his music videos in a row. Jesus, he is SO good!
It is not only "Somebody that I used to know". I realize he is becoming my favorite new performer. I prefer "old" music.
Randomisticful listen to state of the art this dude is very versatile and talented

This music is absolutely delicious.

I did not realize how underrated Gotye is until I watched them (the visuals are stunningly creative)
it’s so cool to see people still listening to this amazing song!!
I can relate to this so much & I wish to God I didn't. Having anxiety disorder & hearing this makes me feel like somebody understands.
2021 y aún sigo escuchando esta belleza....
Thank you
for the amazing music
It connects with me beyond a spiritual level
This so accurately portrays my depression. The struggle to just pull myself together in the morning and put one foot in front of the other. Then I see the smile of a person I care for and I almost feel alive again only to fall apart later.
This might seem the happiest, but I read that he was depressed at a time in his life, I've been a fan for 10 years. And going through depression, I can relate to this.
No cussing.
No sexual content.
No drugs.
No alcohol.
No guns or weapons.
Just meaningful lyrics, and a soothing rhythm & voice.
The music we really need ♥
🙄
how did i *just* find this beautiful song?
Even if I didn't love his music, I would love him simply for his videos. Brilliant.
+Miriam Aharon Really? Well, this video is ok, but have you seen "State of the art" or "Coming home"? They are simply scary. D:
Even "Easy way out" that is brilliant and I really love. Let's face it: most of Gotye's video are creepy or weird.
But of course, there are some beautiful ones like "Bronte" or "Save me". :)
Anyway, I prefer to just listen, but not watch :^)
+Sun Light I love all his music videos. This just happened to be the one i commented on. And yes, i agree it should be listened to more than watched. But watching it every now then reminds me how good the song is, because it definitely does add another element.
+Miriam Aharon You probably as weird as Gotye :o
But that's ok, I guess :)
+Sun Light Next time you tell that to someone, maybe word it in a nicer way. But thank you.
+Sun Light Why would you call someone 'strange' for enjoying Art that differs from your choice of 'likeable' Art style? The beauty in this world is that we're all different - absolutely nothing wrong with that.
My fav gotye song, had gotten me through some tough times
