DIY BATHROOM MAKEOVER TRANSITIONAL STYLE *NO PAINT* | vanity transformation w/ checkered marble

- My parents are coming to stay with us, this is my first time hosting them and I need to get everything ready! Which includes our guest bathroom, which right now is looking SO SAD. As you know, our apartment has gray everything, gray doors, gray floors-MILLENNIAL GRAY EVERYWHERE! And while I have done a lot to cover it up, for this bathroom, I really wanted to kind of embrace it a bit more. So I have some fun DIYs planned, and of course, we are going to make this as renter-friendly as possible! We're adding wallpaper as a fun accent wall, and also giving the vanity a huge transformation with checkered marble countertops, woven contact paper, and new knobs!

I feel like it’s a warm grey , that helps. It leans more yellow/red (warm) rather than the typical blue purple grey which gives a clinical/cold look. ❤

I love that wallpaper and the rug and the gallery wall. The new knobs are so much better than the old ones and echo the light fixtures! It look really nice!
It's beautiful! I like how you warmed up the grey tones. My son and daughter-in-law have a grey house. They chose the materials when the house was being built. I don't care for it, but it's their house. I guess you are right, it's a Millennial thing.

You lucked out with the hue of grey they used, it is a warm grey. A lot of the flips with a millennial grey are done in a very cool blue grey. It’s hard to balance that with the warm color you like to decorate with. And that wallpaper is stunning

I love this! The only thing I would change is actually the little jars on the shelf- some kind of amber glass so your guests can see what is in them, I'd feel awkward snooping around for some q-tips

the wallpaper is beautiful. the scallop rug would be pretty under like a solo reading nook chair. the shelf match the style and brings the space more alive. everything really went together and i love the art print "banh mi" art print adding a bit of personal interest/character. I think u should definitely continue to embrace cultural decor since some of the stunning unique designs are found around the world.

I love this idea! Our little apartment is very gray toned because I guess that’s what was in when they bought it, but I personally really don’t like it, so I love any tips on how to make it more warm and cozy!
I know some people don't love the mixed pattern vibe but to me it gives it more personality it’s a vibe I know is not for everyone.
For me though it's comforting, a little more chaotic like real life instead of plain bare perfect walls ❤

**** CRAFT/DIY ADVICE ****
I HIGHLY recommend that you get clear contact paper squares and seal over the vanity where the white marble is exposed and then use clear contact paper over the entire top of the vanity to help fill the different levels between the vanity and the gray contact paper and to finish it with a full whole seal to help to protect against moisture additionally as a complete and solid whole barrier and finished look.
I hope this helps and if anyone else is replicating this DIY that this advice will help them as well!

Gotta know how that checkerboard holds up. Seems like it won’t last too long with water getting on it.
I was thinking, too, around the edge of the sink. Perhaps as long as the edges are sealed securely, down tight, it "should" be ok??!!

Tina l've really liked just about everything you've done but this bathroom! I love mixed patterns. I personally am a fan of grey. I do like the vanity panels. It breaks up the grey. Sidenote: l need your checkered sweater. I have the same runner from World Market.

Love it. About the counter, how does it feel when you run your hand across it? Since there's a blank space for the white squares?
The wallpaper is really beautiful and such a statement. I thought the checkerboard vanity was going to be too much with the wallpaper but I think it works nicely. I do wonder about the practicality and how it will hold up. I think wallpaper inset on the cabinet actually takes away from the impact of the checkerboard top. It would be a nice way to add interest if the you had kept counter white.
I was worried about that lovely wall paper and your treatment on the sink top, but somehow it works :) Very cute.
