We are working on a makeover that I honestly am SO excited about because it’s literally the first thing you see when you come to our home and that is the entryway. I’ve been really focusing on setting the tone, so whether I’m walking upstairs or in between rooms, you are always passing this area. And it usually gets piled up with stuff when we come home, so it was definitely time. We are going to create a DIY removable arch AND also faux built-in shelves, all while making it renter-friendly! Let's do it!

When you move out, the owner may even want to keep some of your changes, it would serve him to do so, in my opinion.
Make sure you check with them first before you revert back to what it was!

This is my favorite renter friendly project of yours, hands down!! It literally looks like it has always been there, which is the best compliment I can give. You are definitely adding warmth to a very cool toned place, and this will help so much. I love learning about materials, like the super thin boards that were so inexpensive, but looked amazing painted and stained. And the techniques were genius!! 🤩❤❤❤

Wow! You really made a solution and it's pretty awesome. That space was begging for beauty.
You're lucky to be able to paint your walls. All the apartment complexs I've lived in didn't allow any painting. My current place goes so far that all blinds can't come down. You can put up window covering so long as it sandwiches the blinds. - window, blinds, covering.
Yes, staging is nice. But real life is true. Please show us how you really use this area.

I don’t think non-employees are supposed to operate the saws. It’s a huge liability for the company. If they left them unlocked so you could just walk up and do it, that’s probably a fireable offense for whoever did it. If it was an employee who was nervously watching you, he probably didn’t want to tell you no outright for fear you’d get mad and draw attention to the fact that it got left unlocked by complaining that he stopped you from doing it yourself, but he was probably also freaking out that a manager might walk by and see you doing it. It was less thinking that you aren’t capable, and more “OMG I’m so gonna get fired!”
@@michellemahoney8126 I'm pretty sure it wasn't the large power saw. They have a handsaw station for cutting trim. It's intended for customer use.

You should put a light under the arch! I love plants so personally I would probably put a plant light there then add some plants to the space. Or you could skip the cords and put some cheap battery powered lights.
This really is a remarkable diy makeover. I've wondered about creating your own "studs", so seeing it executed so well is awesome. And you styled it in a simple but interesting way.

If you find a perfect color to light or too dark have them dilute with white by a percentage like add 20% white.or add a touch of black.

Looks really lovely. I personally think I would have liked to arch to sit higher as it closed down the space some, but I know you weren’t really using the parts you couldn’t reach so that may be why you put it that height.

I love the way the entry turned out! So very creative. I love your content and jump on right when I see it posted. The only addition the entry needs is one of those motion activated lights like you put in the closet of your last place. It would be great to walk in, set your purse or keys on the table---and wooohooo a light comes on. it would also enhance your beautiful arch. Cant wait to see what's next.

I needed inspiration to start working for the day on my Den. You inspired me a few months ago and while it has been slow going over these months as a new mom as well, I am so happy with how its going. I'm learning so much and having great "me" time.
