I've been following the Titan XD closely. The engine is an amazing design. I'm really looking forward to seeing what it can really do. I believe it is the most advanced and has the most potential to unlock of all currently available V8 diesel engines in pickup trucks. What impressed me most is how easily it revs. It does not complain or hesitate to jump to 3800rpm. It has the right diesel V8 sound, but the guts of a high performance engine. Fully rollerized valvetrain, dual over head cams, parallel intake and exhaust valves. Looking forward to seeing more from you on this truck! Subscribed.
At 30% driveline correction, crank HP is 374 and TQ is 607. So, it seems that in typical Cummins fashion the electronics are metering power to protect the driveline. I suspect the XD would be more enjoyable to drive with just increasing throttle response.
Brett Harrison it is a very similar design when looking at the turbos and injection system. Even the 6.0 engines and many older engines had 5 injections per combustion event. I don't see any new technology in this over a 6.4l. This New Cummins 5.0 is far more compact and sounds like a 6.4 because it is basically a miniature refined version.
Umm... there are significant differences between the 6.4L Powerstroke and the 5.0 ISV Cummins... One is over head valve, the other is dual overhead cams... for starters.
Scott Gaskill they have to seeing as how that is how horsepower is calculated. It is calculated from torque which the dyno is measuring vs rpm. (RPM * torque) / 5252 = HP. I'm sure it was just the gear ratio being off. Which makes me not trust the results.
It's the weight that concerns me. wouldn't the reason to have a lighter duty truck to have a lighter weight truck? handling efficiency performance etc?
Is it straight piped? or any air flow mods? All of the new diesels are so quiet now, kudos to nissan if they decided to let the engine power be heard!!
im surprised to see max torque coming out at 3170 rpm, i cant wait to see what happens when they release a tune for this bad boy! thoughts on if the transmission will hold up? Also, hows your wife enjoying the truck? i should be picking up a PRO-4X in a week or so. excited!! -D
That is an awesome review of this truck. I have been posting my excitement about this truck on numerous other revew pages, and then criticized by trolls and haters about my feelings on this truck. This is the kind of review I wanted to see. What is your explanation for the dip in power and torque at 2,900 rpm. Is transmission related or related to the turbos ?? I think your data shows you do not need to push the engine above 3,300 rpm as you do not gain much after that. Right ? Do you have any theories on how to improve the performance ? Do you think not having an exhaust brake is a bummer ? Do you like the integrated gooseneck hitch ? One reviewer, critcized Nissan for not putting in a Gooseneck electric adapter in the bed, but that is less than a $ 200 add-on that most trailer shops can do. I wish I could afford this truck. Please keep posting details about this truck and do not let the hater trolls discourage you.
he more than likely got off the throttle and downshifted for another dyno pull. theres no way the power dips that much, as far as the exhaust break goes hte aftermarket for these trucks is piss poor right now, the only exhaust systems available are filter-back.... In terms of the people who hate on this truck, they're mad cause their "American" trucks cant compare, though the titan is what, 100% designed and built in North America? ... go drive one, thats how this truck got me. i'm going to get mine next week.
Lee Majewski it doesn't compete with them though? it's kind of in it's own category. it's far less powerful than the big three diesel offerings in the 3/4 ton range, but it's definitely a bigger more powerful truck than a 1\2 ton. it's like a heavy half or light 3/4
You can got Dave Smith and get a Ram 2500 big horn 4x4 for that price. I hate to sound like an advertising person but I drove over 5 hours to get mine from there.
+RaginCajundogg 1/2 ton F150's , and Silverado Gas trucks are 60k as well if you load them with options just like the XD in this video. A Cummins XD starts at 40k. A Gas XD starts at 35k. Loaded trucks are expensive no matter what Chassis Configuration you choose.
also, the difference in quality (engine being the exception) is ridiculous. i was shopping for a diesel recently and went with the titan, simply because when i drove the 2500's from the big 3, they felt like they were made of cardboard in comparison. With Nissan you get what you pay for, though if im honest it is priced very high.
6.2 liter 8 speed is worth the 54k fully loaded stomp ecoboost all day lol and 12,500 toweing 0-60 in 5.4 its a pretty fast and fun truck it really is the new titan is nice but a lot of doeeeeeee.

Any emissions-intact tuning available? I live an an area that does e-Check.

Awesome stuff. I like that something more will be done to reveal what more this 5.0L cummins will become!
still waiting for an update....
Is it just me or does it sound like a stock 6.4 at idle and at wot

How do u like the truck that u have had it for a little bet. And tuning done
What ever happened to the Nissan cummins. I've "stayed tuned" for over a year and nothing!
why do the TQ and HP curves not cross 5252 RPM like they are supposed to?
I've always wonder if diesels were the same as gas engines since most diesels don;t even rev that high.

Because it is a diesel motor. They don’t rev that high.
It's the weight that concerns me. wouldn't the reason to have a lighter duty truck to have a lighter weight truck? handling efficiency performance etc?
So @hardwayperformance any update?
Why show uncorrected numbers?
So what were the numbers?
+Matthew Ziegler - Dyno graph is at the end of the video, 288HP/466TQ uncorrected.
Is it straight piped? or any air flow mods? All of the new diesels are so quiet now, kudos to nissan if they decided to let the engine power be heard!!
Are you going to DPF Delete? Idling sounds just like a 6.7 dodge
Really good looking truck by the way.
Sounds pretty good!
any new videos of thing, delete kit
When you got on it it sounde like a powerstroke
You sir, have gained a sub lol. Cannot wait to see it after some proper diesel mods!
Sounds very similar to a 7.3ps to me I love it and can't wait to see one with some modification
Logan Bolton maybe the idi lol the ps is way louder than that

love it..can't wait to here it with a delete kit
+J Q1985 It sounds like a mix between an LML duramax and 6.7 ford... stay tuned!
+Hardway Performance I agree ....when I took one for a test drive...I told the wife the same thing.....definitely a hint of duramax in the sound
J Q1985 I hear 6.0 at idle
She didn't know that she wanted me until I TOLD HER ASS that she wanted me!
About time they made a V8 diesel to compete with duramax and powerstroke lol

Damn that's almost 100 lbs lost to the driveline :/ cant wait to see it tuned
god I want these in Australia, but they would charge $150,000 for one
Those numbers are far below what nissan claims for the 5.0 cummins.
That’s at the wheels , not the crank
Get some Royal Purple diesel oil and pour a Mickey of whiskey in the fuel and she'll lay down 350 easy hp.
To bad they are over 50k. That's 3/4 ton territory. I'd rather have a 6.7 for that much money.
Hell no if youre talking about a ram 2500 are expensive

those numbers arnt much better than a 2.8 duramax lol
Those don't make crap for power lol
The Lab blame the EPA
I wouldn't dyno a truck with less than 1000 miles on it. just saying.
that truck sounded really nice when you opened the hood
Super weak
