BIG THANKS TO BMW OF HAWAII FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO POSSIBLE!
Btw, what's going on in your description box? Its repetitive. You didn't really show us the Cummins engine.
The Fast Lane with Joe Tunney this guy looks and sounds gay #gayness
great video! Kona is amazing I lived there for four years!
I couldn't agree with this review more. I absolutely love my Titan diesel. I have a contracting company and owning multiple other diesel trucks all very disappointing. I tried the Titan diesel because I had a gas one years ago and loved it. This truck is truly well built. I agree culture has a huge part to do with it people seem to impose flaws on this truck that don't really exist because it's different and doesn't fall under the major manufacturers
It's a dog eat dog world and the manufacturers themselves smear the daylights out of the competition online...so many "comments" by Titan haters are from folks who's youtube account only exists to disparage Titan diesels. It worked, and Nissan, despite their huge investment, axed a great truck. If you have a channel like mine you see that there are several innovative vehicles who've simply been shamed out of existence.
thats good brings the value down on them
Love my 2016 Nissan Titan XD Pro 4X, got it used with 6k miles for under 40K. Tow 2-3 horses regularly and travel pretty frequently. Been an amazing truck for us!!
Nice to get one with 6k and save some nice money as well. Towing horses is pretty much the ideal workload this truck was designed for.
I bought a 2016 Titan SL diesel brand new and still own it with 118,000 miles. Problems I have had requiring replacement repairs was an EGR cooler replacement at 90,000 miles (It had a pinhole leak and Nissan gave me the repair for half price ~$1500 after I persistently showed them it is a known problem with many occurrences online hence probably why the new EGR cooler is an updated version). I replaced the AC/heater blower motor at 110,000 miles which was an easy RUclips fix (~$100). I also had to replace a fuel injector at 100,000 miles. For those that do not know, it looks like an engine gets blown when it happens (hint...stop driving and get it towed to the shop!). Fuel injector was replaced without issues (~$400). Problems I currently have is that the coolant reservoir level sensor is poorly engineered and will give you a false low level that puts you in limp mode (I have replaced the coolant reservoir/level sensor twice ~$300 and it still happens). This was an easy RUclips fix by unscrewing the level sensor from the bottom and lowering it about an inch held up by a securely taped on bolt (and no, it doesn't leak if you unscrew it). I also have to fill the power steering fluid from low level every year which is concerning, but manageable. Other than that, it runs great and have had no other issues. Overall, I am completely satisfied and have never experienced the major repair horror stories of the Big 3 trucks that usually occur prior to 80,000 miles. Although the touch screen display is lacking (again, its 2016), the Rockford Fosgate stereo gets compliments from everybody who listens to it and interior leather is still holding up well. I get compliments on my truck from Ram and GM diesel owners at work all the time because it still looks almost new. Is ~$2,300 corrective maintenance too much work/problems for a 2016 truck with 118,000 miles?...I don't think it is if you have some repair knowledge and pull out some RUclips certified mechanic to help save some cost. Of course, its a shared vehicle which also helps.
First honest Titan report! After my Ram Eco Diesel, my Titan is GOLD!
Thank you so much for taking a look John, I appreciate it!
You have issues with your ecodiesel?
A piece of dog shit with wheels on it would be better than an eco-diesel, those things are pure shit
Nahuel De Nardi yes, ecodiesels are piles and no support from FCA
Thoughts on the Frontier diesel?
I love mine! Best truck I’ve ever owned. Thank you for your honesty , we also love our 2006 LX470 ! We bought the LX because of your review and research.
You have great taste Abe. Congratulations on having two of the nicest trucks that money can buy!
I was looking into this truck with the Cummins V8 diesel. I had a Duramax in ‘02, and wanted to get back into diesel. This engine however, didn’t have the power I had hoped for in a V8 and it clatters which told me it might not have the tech that the big 3 have in their diesels. Nissan ditched this diesel due to some issues which is a shame. It was at least $10k less than any other truck and the Nissan looks cool.
Most under rated truck on the market.
I agree with you Hula Rock...this truck was originally designed to be sold in partnership with Ram and I'd love to see Dodge figure a way to keep this platform/engine combination going.
Not according to dough demiro, I think toyota pays him to crap on nissan lol
Why do you say this? I’m interested In this truck but have ha mixed feelings on this. Looking forward
Cummins reliability in motor and a good reliable 4x4 platform. Would like to
Get 500k out of it.
Not even. How so?
I have a 2016 titam Cummins engine and many lovers of ford and dogge ram and chevrolet told me that this troka was not good, what's more they told me that this diesel engine had no power and I already have 4 years with eya and I can tell you that it is very powerful and I haven't had any problems with Eya yet. It's a very reliable and very pretty truck.
I have a 17 titan xd 94k miles. Pulled 10k fifthwheel, auto trailer, deck over trailer keep maintenance up treat it right tow within its numbers, mountains and flatland , wind and snow. It’s the perfect truck for all around use Cosmetically awesome and no problems. Yes a very solid built truck and steady towing platform. Love mine 😊
Not this Diesel engine though so that’s not a good comparison
Can I run hotshots in this truck?
Thank you for this video and honest review. I live in Whitehorse, Yukon Territories, Canada where it is currently -30. Today I will go to the Nissan dealership and decide whether I want to buy a 2017 Nissan Titan XD Pro-4X (shiny deep blue color, 6.6" box brand new Wrangler tires, 2" lift, absolutely beautiful) OR a 2017 Nissan Titan XD Cummins diesel. This truck is black and a little dented in areas but it's being detailed and it also has the 6.6' box with a hard cover. I can't decide! If the diesel was in the beautiful shiny truck it would be a done deal immediately.
Love your channel and your the only smart person giving the respect to the Titan , sadly I got rid of mine a week before the announcement of production ending .... I do miss it and it was an awesome truck !!!!
1 flaw I didn’t like was the cab would smell during regen/ it also went into regen to often ... other than that it was great truck !!!
I'm curious what Nissan will do next. My guess is that Toyota comes out with a heavy duty diesel and Nissan brings theirs back for the next generation Titan. Discontinuing a relationship with a brand as valuable as Cummins is bad business.
@@everycarSeattle Toyota will never offer a diesel pickup for sale in the US.
Toyota won’t put a diesel in a full size truck here. Ever.
@@everycarSeattle From what I read, Cummins actually discontinued it's relationship with Nissan. Not the other way around.
‘17 Titan XD SL, 5.0 Cummins Turbo Diesel, 8’ bed, Regular Cab. Best truck I’ve ever driven. Love my Truck!
Joe, I have the Tacoma TRD Pro. After watching this video just re-enforced my decision to go for the Titan diesel platinum. My local dealer just got one.
I’ll get a lot for my money. Thank you the video. (2017 platinum diesel 32K)
Do it I had a tacom 2019 Trd in Texas driving 80-85 all day the taco was 11 mpg at most no room for the kids and junk in the back got a 19XD midnight edition and love it
Agree with Joe: awesome truck. I am an original owner of a 2016 XD diesel. Big gripe is the 26 gal tank is way too small.
I have owned two titans and love them both. My first titan got slammed in the rear so hard the coil springs in the car that hit me popped out and was rolling down the road. Three vehicles were involved counting my truck, two were totalled and had to be towed away, mine was the only one that drove home. My 2007 titan tailgate came unhinged on one side only, a bent bumper, and a slight dent on the fender where the rear bumper was pushed into it. The tail lights were fully intact. I was so impressed with how well it held together I bought another new one back in 2013. It now has 130,000 miles and I'm ready for a 3rd. Perhaps a 2020 model.
I'd say that 2nd generation Titans are the most underappreciated trucks ever made but that honor goes to the 1st generation Titan. An awesome truck completely off the radar of most buyers. It's incredible that you weren't seriously hurt Scorpio.
How many miles to the gallon do you get in that tuck my titan xd gets 12
@@alexandersumrall6408 yes that's what I think I get although I never really tried to calculate it. I'm guessing I get anywhere from 12 to 13 mph due to traffic probably 14 to 15 highway using cruise control. Definitely not the best millage but I like the power it produces.
I have a 2008 nissan titan pro-4x with 230k miles and the only thing I've had to replace was a an alternator and new spark plugs and coil packs and still running strong. One of the best vehicles I've ever owned.
I’m a die hard ford guy but I made the swap from a 15 eco boost f150 to the 18 titan xd Cummins and man this truck it’s just that, it’s a truck! Not a race car not a semi but an every day work horse meant to eat the miles and do what ever the weekend worrier has to throw at it! I love mine, it’s too bad Nissan is cutting it off this December. Yes ford ram Chevy all are in the 30k lbs range for towing, and that’s fine but for a person like myself the titan xd is an excellent compromise.
I think the only thing that held this truck back is that it wasn't sold by Ram. If it was, it might be the most popular work truck on the market.
@@everycarSeattle will it tow a 7,000lb bumper pull camper?
Love my 16 XD Platinum Reserve. Bought it with 9,000 miles for 36k back in 2018. D3l3ted at 30,000 miles and wow, made a world of difference. Throttle response is better. Aside from the transmission short shifting/upshifting too soon even under moderate to heavy throttle it drives like it should. Love it! Had 4 inch straight pipe and it sounded amazing, loved the turbo sound at idle and the wind up when you first hit the throttle. Put the afe muffler and now it's too quiet but I'm sure it will get more sound though.
what do you mean by "deleted"?
@@eddiemedelez4092 I plea the fifth lol
@@eddiemedelez4092 gets rid of all that dpf emi55ions crap. Basically straight pipe from the turbo back. No more d3f fluid, and tuned to make more power, better throttle response. Even on the zero hp setting it runs so much better. It's way more responsive and doesnt smoke. When I turn it up to +60hp, +90hp, or +120hp it does smoke when you get on it.
@@Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix yeah, i just read up on it. however, i think that will mess with my warranty
My only issue is then discontinuing the 5.0. I would have deleted anyways but I’ve heard you can’t get turbos anymore. People are wearing for parts for months for this thing. I test drove one yesterday and the dealer said the truck was traded in because the previous owner was waiting on a recall part to come in and it took so long he traded it in on a RAM 2500.
Probably best trade in he did
Bought a 18 Platinum Reserve diesel with 15k on it, put another 12k towing a 5thwheel around the US a few times. I absolutely love this truck and it’s handling and performance. I’ve had diesel Land Rover discovery’s and Toyota Land Cruisers both great vehicles but nothing comes close to the titan XD
I just sold my land cruiser and I’m in the market for a diesel pick up. I just wish Titans had solid axle but it’s looking like they’re the best value out of all trucks
My next truck, no problem. You are right about the diesel culture and people not wanting anything other than big 3. It's why here in Indiana the value of these is low, and why I am going to get a good deal!
There's nothing better than getting something nice for a cheap price...overpaying is so easy and it's what most people understand - which is weird, but that's just how it is. Muscle cars were worthless in the 80's as everyone laughed at what a fool you were for driving a car that got such terrible gas mileage...now those same naysayers pay through the nose to have one.
It truly is a great truck! We have put 18,000 working miles on our '18 model Midnight Edition in less than a year. I have been a diehard Ram owner for over 25 years and I followed Cummins development of their ISV 5.0 package into this XD. I thought it would be in a Ram, but this was the package presented. Truth be told, it's just so much truck for the money and performs better than any Ram I've owned/operated previously. ...and that includes 5.7, 6.4 Hemi trucks and 5.9 Cummins trucks. Do the 6.7 Cummins make more power now? Sure. But that's not the point. The Chassis, stability, oversized brakes, comfortable ride, towing manners, fuel economy, 5 year warranty, and more, make this the best truck for me. I would do it again in a heartbeat! If this truck had even 25% of the marketing and support the Big 3 have, it would be a huge success! I still regularly have people warn me at the pumps, because they have no idea that Nissan offered this amazing diesel truck! Lol! It always leads to a fun conversation, and I've given a lot of test rides to folks. It's fun to see them light up when they realize just how American this Nissan branded XD really is! Thanks so much for the video! It's refreshing! Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much Innovative...that is an amazing testimonial!
Right on brother
How many miles to the gallon do you get in that tuck my titan xd gets 12
same!! I got pulled over in a small town, thought i was gonna get a ticket but the cop just wanted to talk about the truck since he hadn't seen one before!
Well, better enjoy it. Last year of production. 9 years of r&d for 4 model years of production.
Just hit 100,000 miles on my 2017 Nissan Titan XD Platinum reserve.
without a doubt one of the smoothest trucks I've ever driven feels much better than my father's f250. Although the Nissan needs a better center console.
Still good buy for me, got mine for 34k
That's a steal slyrooster...you're right about the center console, I'm sure any mid-cycle refresh will focus on the layout of the interior and probably a giant infotainment screen to one-up the RAM
@@everycarSeattle
Unfortunately not since it's been discontinued sad!
Although Nissan is going to carry on with the gas-powered crew-cabs I do worry about the brand's overall health. They sell so many vehicles to rental car companies to keep production going but that also what Olds and Pontiac did, right before they went defunct...they need to hit a home run on the new Frontier
@@everycarSeattle agreed! The frontier is getting a facelift and updated technology, hopefully the price point will stick, I'm not paying 47k for a Ford Ranger.
How many miles to the gallon do you get in that tuck my titan xd gets 12
Prefect size what I need to do. Love mine 17 XD 5.0
I have a 2013 Nissan Titan SV crew cab which I love because it’s got everything I want and is not too pretty with all the chrome! I like the size, turn radius and the bigger rear sliding window... The body style changes I am not too warm on..
I just picked up a Titan, gas not diesel. The reason I did is because my Nissan Frontier finally wore out after 16 years beating it up and down at 6 Mi dirt road pulling about 600 lb with a carpentry tools with over 200,000 miles on it. I hope it's big brother proves just as tough.
2017 sv 4x4 cc titan here with the 5.6 gas. Hellava truck just like my 2013 version was.
I love those first body style Titans. One of the most overlooked trucks ever made.
Got me a 2018 already 53.000 miles and no problems at all is a great truck 🔥
I’d love to get my hands on one of these when the lease on my F150 runs out next year. From what I’ve read, this is the perfect truck when you need a little more than a half ton, but not quite a 3/4 ton.
You hit it right on the head Luis! I just added my most comprehensive video yet of my top 25 sports cars of all time...take a look: ruclips.net/video/bp7ISIkSMuk/видео.html
You are 100% correct. I use mine to tow a 37' camper weighing 10k lbs and it does amazing. I even tow my work trailer every bbn once in a while and it weighs 14k lbs when loaded.
Some half tons have higher tow ratings than the titan. I don't understand why people say these are more than a half ton when they definitely are not.
Absolutely my love my titan. It’s not a 3/4 ton so it’s not fair to compare to others. It’s the best heavy duty half ton ever. Cummins is AWESOME
They look great, they drive great, they'll tow a mountain and are reasonably priced. Just an awesome truck you have Andrew!
Mine is an amazing truck..Mike Barney Nissan in Amherst NY who I bought it from sucks and Nissan customer service blows... So unfortunately I won't be getting another one. The truck is definitely rock solid.
Congrats on the great truck and sorry for the crummy experience...I hear that same combination way too many times. Nissan really should have spent A LOT more time at the dealership level on this truck before the released it.
Loving my 2017 Titan XD. Granted, it's fully deleted and tuned, so that takes care of most of the issues these trucks have.
I'm running into low boost issues, like many other people. only 49k miles
I wasn't really a fan of nissan titans until I saw the used car market prices for a low mile fully loaded 2016-2019 Titan with the cummins engine. Pricing is way better than ram or ford for similar higher end trim levels.
What does everybody think about the 19 sv 5.6 Just got it was told it was different generation engine(I was told everything about the 7th cylinder with the years before) but yet everyone online boats about having 200+k miles on them???dont get it but would like some feed back plz..And also does a fuel injected engine sound louder than a different type of engine??? THX in advanced!!!!
I have a 2018 Nissan Titan I bought 2 yrs ago with 40k miles now it has 90k and I’ve never had any problems at all and I tow a trailer every day for work
Used to work at a Nissan and I love those trucks
I love when sales people share their opinions, whether for better or for worse...they are the one's earning their living on that product and your opinions are super important!
16 titan xd diesel here, accelerating lags almost got me into accidents multiple times. Love what it does and try to live with it but had to trade it in.
Tan Nguyen It's a diesel and they do that sometimes!
Sounds like an operator malfunction.
@@Icutmetal how so?
The nissan titan is like the red headed step child no one wants. But it's honestly a beautiful truck imo
I agree.
I personally can’t do the interior something about it that I don’t like. I couldn’t bring myself to like the older F150 interiors either, but these new F150s I don’t mind
I have 2 2017 Cummins Titans. One is a Single cab and the other one is a 4door. The single cab HAULS ASS once you floor it. The other one is lfc a bit slower due to more weight. But so far the Single cab I've ran it againts few truck and cars. And it has kept up. Including the Big 3 diesels.
Planning on buying a single cab and building a race truck out of one. I ran a 15.4@91mph with my 4 door on a 125hp tune. Single cab would be about 2k pounds less. Could definitely see this truck making 10s quarter mile.
I bought a 2012 Titan SV Heavy Meatal 2.5 years ago the truck is 7.5 years old runs great. My next truck will be another Titan.
Older Titans are the best value in the game...it's amazing how much you get without spending a ton of money. If you buy one used, the resale value is through the roof.
It's funny how people dog on Nissan but the Titan/Armadas are so reliable and beast. I see a lot of older Titans and Armadas all over town.
I bought mine in September of 17 for $20k with 42k miles.
I have a 2008 gas engine 5.6 225k miles and its still strong as hell same engine and transmission....only problem is now Im afraid to buy a other kind because I mite be disappointed because this titan is so damm reliable...
I'm thinking of getting a Truck and since I want a Diesel 1/2 or higher I'm interested in this since it's so much of an oddity compared to the three other companies. Everything online says they are terrible but I can't help but notice how much they are going for used. If they were as bad as claimed you'd think people would be trying to get rid of them more. I'm probably going to settle for something cheaper but if I could I'd definitely get this.
Also how good would this be at carrying a medium-sized Truck Camper (think Lance 825, Palomino HS750, or equivalent) while towing a large storage trailer?
As the truck market is right now I think they are the only truck brand at a reasonable price. Can get a ‘17 with 75k for 25-30k
Does this need the Euro spec low ash oil?
Love this channel .... your correct about the Titan
Thank you so much No Ma'am, I appreciate you taking a look!
You're*
I owned a 2017 Titan XD Platinum Reserve, and it was one heck of a truck. Mine had the 5.6 Endurance gas engine, and it had plenty of power and pickup. I put 16,000 trouble free miles on it, and there are days I miss it. I traded it in for a 2019 RAM Limited, mostly for the updated technology, and the crazy deals they had in June (close to 30% off sticker). The XD was just a little too big for an everyday driver for me. But, for what I paid with a 6 year 100,000 mile warranty included...it was a great buy.
You have great taste Louis, the RAM is also an amazing truck!
How do you get a titan XD (this signifies that it's a diesel) with the 5.6 gasser engine :-/
Charles henson there is a gas and diesel version of the XD. Diesel is being killed off after this year, but as of now the gasser XD is still going to be sold.
@@charleshenson4183 The XD designates the 5/8 ton truck, not the engine. It is (was) available with either powerplant, gas or diesel.

I have a 04 Nissan titan with about 191k miles on it and still drivers amazing drives better than most trucks!
Those original '04's are awesome...and if you buy them nowadays, the resale value 5 years from now is literally 100%.
Question, I’m thinking about that titan, but I need to know if it would work pulling a tank for asphalt? 10,000 pounds
I’ve heard of people towing with their regular titans more than the towing capacity which is about 9,300 with no problem. I would get the XD which can tow about 11,000 lbs
I was considering one, and still kind of am, but my ecoboost tows almost as much if not the same. It also worries me that they’ve discontinued the Cummins. What will that mean for parts and repairs?
Nissan lowered the tow capacity for reliability the ford is literally at it's limit towing alot on the f150 will eventually break faster. It's the reasons why ford reliability is still under nissan. (Even though nissans cvt sucks)
Diesel will outlast a gas engine ….
@@MJT-DA No cvt here.
@@humz403 yeah i know it's the 6 speed planetary gearset. (6-speed automatic Aisin A466ND) however, people still complained about how it shifts. And this is a programming issue because when they reprogrammed it at my dealership the issue would go away then come back so it's not even nissans fault... 🤦🏾♂️
Are there any aftermarket options to boost the power a bit without killing the engine (i dont want 600hp, looking for around 400hp is plenty) I am considering buying one, i just want to be able to tow a toy hauler without slowing down on the pass. Or am i better off with a 6.7 cummins? Thanks in advance
They really are perfect right out of the box...I would ask if I could take one overnight and try it over the pass while pulling a trailer. I think you'll like it just the way it is.
@@everycarSeattle They are WOEFULLY underpowered for a modern Common Rail diesel. Coupled with horribly fuel economy and spotty reliability, they are far from perfect.

I have a 2018, I've had mine for a year at 21,xxx now, perfect for what I want done, great truck
They really are the class act of the segment...such a bummer to discontinue the diesel
Indeed, it's a luxury truck, but has the power to do what I need to get done, and Cummins is 10x easier to work on than a powerstroke
Update on truck?

Interesting first-hand knowledge Modern...I wonder if there will be a substantial price difference between early models and later models down the road...or if '19's will secretly be one of the steals of the marketplace.
@@everycarSeattle I doubt there will be a price difference. They dont price them by build dates. I work in an automotive assembly plant and know first hand the frustration of new model launches. This goes for all the car companies. My new Titan just feels tighter....quieter with great fit and finish. The trans seems smoother as well. Overall way better truck then my early build 17 was.
ModernMuscleCar Now you’re a person that needs a RUclips channel!! I’d like to hear more from the workers that actually work in the plants and have that first hand reliable knowledge. ModernMuscleCar how do you feel about the 18 XD Diesel model? I was wanting to get one that was a year old so I won’t lose as much later on trade in. Your though please and thank you.
ive had mine a couple months now. 2019 xd midnight. The power is biggest complaint. after about 3500-4000 rpm it will pick up a little and is a little more responsive after you hit around 45mph. It has less than 400 hp and and almost 500'lb torque. So not really in the same market as other trucks its size compared to hp and torque. The DPF system is also a major restriction. Mine has already been replaced by the manufacturer at 5000 miles! I bought the GM demo at 4700 miles so they didnt drive it right. of course it is under warranty and the replacement was free. If you lose the DPF system, Hp and torque will increase greatly so after the warranty, mine is coming off . But, as far as comfortability, I think titan is on point. durability, will run forever. My 2011 titan SL is still running hard at 200,000 miles and ive drive it like im running from the police everyday. only thing ive done to it is basic tune up. Ive added some after market performance parts to speed it up a little too. This is my third titan, went with the diesel because of the added towing capacity. Just wish it had more power and of course that can be achieved easily for around $6,000 after the warranty is up. so i will be saving a little money over the next 100,000 miles when the warranty expires to drop the DPF and add new exhaust, intake, injectors etc. Edelbrock makes a complete kit for this truck to give around 600+ hp and much more torque. So, not as much hp or torque, but very comfortable and durable and hp and torque can be added later.
I've been curious how a system like the Edelbrock system would change the actual performance of the Titan...the truck is certainly designed to handle a lot more power than it has stock.
Stock 5.0L diesel makes more power and same torque as the famous 7.3 powerstroke and the 12valve 6BT Cummins. If you compare it to a 94-03 truck your on point.
Park it in a tight spot, with vehicles on both sides, that is how you know what daily use will be like. Nissan has been building and selling good solid trucks for 40 years in the USA. I would buy one.
Is this truck considered a 1500 or 2500?
I owned a 16 Titan XD PR. It's a great truck, but was lacking in some major ways. Very bad shifting in stop and go traffic, too little towing capacity for its weight, no folding or extending mirrors, no sunroof, and horrible infotainment system. With that said it rode great, looks amazing, very nice interior, plenty of space and storage, and amazing stereo system.
Awesome first-hand account of what's it's really like to own one Placito...thank you so much for sharing
@@everycarSeattle no problem! would I buy a 19 or higher non diesel (XD or otherwise)? Yes. Without a doubt. It is a gorgeous truck.
@@leftofloss.how many miles now? I heard they break by 150k
I had the Titan diesel got brand new and had to get rid of the truck got a Titan 5.6 now
What size lift is in that?
Is it the 3inch bolt on?
Right on both counts Jason
I see a lot of complaints that turbo and other engine components are impossible to source...they say run from this diesel !!!
Is this the same guy as big truck big rv because they sound identical
I'm going to go test drive one tomorrow. A platinum reserve. I heard good and bad things. I really want to get it but I'm not sure. Anyone can point out the good and bad. I've had a 2011 titan loved it 0 to 60 in about 5.5 seconds full bolts. Running E85.
What did you decide?
What kind of grill is that?
I've owned a standard 2017 Titan pro4x V8, great truck! I have a 2018 Titan XD Platinum Reserve Cummins now, great truck! Don't listen to people who haven't owned one themselves. I recommend either the Standard Titan or the XD, both are very different trucks. The standard Titan feels like any good 1/2 ton with a very powerful V8. The Titan XD Cummins feels like a 3/4 ton for the most part, it's a much heavier truck.
Can it pull a Fifth Wheel RV?
I hope to pick one up after I graduate from college. Disappointing that Nissan is dropping the Cummins though.
Super disappointing, but you can get such a great deal on a used one maybe it's actually better for buyers
@@everycarSeattle will that make parts cost more?
what about electrical issues have nissan worked out the kinks?
I haven't personally come across any electrical issues but they certainly happen...but I don't think it's so different than what you might expect from any truck
Love my XD 2017 but it already is starting to rust in the wheel wells. I have a feeling that the engine will outlive its body.
Fluid film the underside
Ziebart your truck. The factory rust preventative coating only last around 3 years tops. Ziebart is the best. That gewy, tar and sand based undercoating is the best. Unless you want to Rhino line the underside. Which is far more expensive.
Paint the underside with the used motor oil before every winter. Shouldn’t rust at all
Wish that we had it here in Manila
I love my 2019 Titan Pro4x.
I think the only problem that it’s a Nissan honestly, I just saw a red one, I believe it was a Texas edition, it was honestly beautiful
I'm confused...bwhat does driving through and parking in a parking lot have to do with that Titan being a diesel? It's Cummins engine is a great American made engine. Where Nissan failed was building a Titan diesel option that is kind of in the middle of a half ton and 3/4 ton truck. So it's a very niche model.
What’s your mpg like
For the price of the Titan your up with the big 3. I love my old 2010 Titan but like I said for the price I’d have to buy the big boy truck
I own a 2016 with the diesel. I have 117k on it no issues.
I appreciate you sharing that General, it's great to hear from owners who know what they are talking about!
I'll just say the 5.0 Cummins has bottom end issues and fueling problems. Be careful wading into it and hardly any other support outside of the dealership
I haven't had any problems with mine yet. Do you have any idea on the milage the truck had when it had the issues?
Amen. The 5.0L Cummins is junk!
@@user-gx2bs1vq7w 🤷
Love my Titan XD Cummins
Great truck Nakia, you have great taste!
I'm in the market for a pick up and this truck it intrigued me so much...but it makes me wonder why there are tons of them used on the market...a few review i looked at people weren't happy with it..
Because they’re prone to several failures and Nissan got tired of warrantying them. They get like 10-15 mpg and they use an active regen systems that burns both diesel and DEF at an alarming rate…they’re cheap up front but cost thousands to keep running unless you delete the emissions and risk putting yourself or the mechanic who does it in prison 😂
The biggest problem is the Cummins 5.0 liter Has issues with the timing chain tensioner, the lube system, two many failures with the 5.0 , do your research, the Nissan is great, to bad it didn’t come with the 5.9 or 6.7 liter Diesel.
Got a 17 pro4x, gasser
Great truck 70k on it still happy when i see her washed. Info center is worst part, very dated. Just saw 12.1" android aftermarket screen, Phoenix audio px6, that looks cool.
I seen that screen to pretty cool
Debating that or just swapping the newer 8in Nissan head unit
@@OOpSjm they got a 9 inch too
Awesome truck talk to you at 350k miles it will be still nice and still going
The most misunderstood truck ever made. I don't know if trucks of this generation will be collectible 50 years from now, but if they are - this will be #1
Does it come as a 3/4 ton?
Just the one way, sort of in-between a 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton.
I hate to say it but the build quality the first year had all kind of tsb and issue's like even the height of suspension on driver from passenger would be higher.
Well, I bought a 2019XD about six weeks ago. It's an awesome driving truck. The only issues so far are the diesel smell when it goes into regen. Oh, and the resale value/trade value is terrible!
You need to run your ac on recirculate. Plus the ac blows colder on recirc
Still nowhere near as bad as when a powerstroke regens. Holy hell, burns your eyes, throat and sinuses. No other truck is that harsh. When my xd would regen it was a slight smell, but nothing like my f250 was.
Give it a few years, as a powerstroke owner those diesel titans will go up in price.
What's regen? I'm considering buying one of these but don't know what this is
@@2a-usa476 it’s when the DPF is clogged, and extra fuel is dumped in to burn the particulates off.
I heard you can’t get parts for them
Awesome
I'm thinking about picking one of these up. I've owned 4 Toyota's, but I'm not a fan of their newest trucks, and the used market is way overpriced.
Did you film this with a potato?
So now what? With the cummins dropped, is it still worth it?
Maybe even more so...rare, expensive and innovative has always been the recipe for collectors cars...I don't know if this will ever be a collector car, but I wouldn't bet against excellent resale value from here.
The Fast Lane with Joe Tunney based on autotrader, this will be the poor mans cummins. Even platinum reserves arent holding their value.
I really wish nissan would scrap the half ton and make the XD the base, but a real 3/4 ton
Just got my 2019 titan with the Cummins. Traded off my tuned and deleted 2015 Duramax after it hit 150k and a long list of problems. Literally all this Titan has to do is be affordable, not brake down every hunting season and not have random alarm codes from GM electronics and it’ll be better than any GMC or Chevy than I’ve ever owned. 😂
You probably didn’t service your fuel system like you should have…for most people filters and injectors are still cheaper then buying a completely different truck 🤷🏼♂️…GM alarms and messages are there to remind the owners that maintenance needs to be done, stuff they figured out in the R/D process and decided to display it on the dash instead of listing it on some obscure section of the owners manuals that usually get lost after the vehicle changes hands once 😂
@@localenterprisebroadcastin5971 funny that you say that because the fuel system had nothing to do with it. Head gaskets and GM electronics had everything to do with it. With the LML’s getting older in age those problems will arise. Also that titan was the biggest piece of shit I have ever owned and I’d take my old gmc back in a heart beat. 😂 😂 I traded titan off for a ford. So far no problems
What year did Nissan Titan start selling the Diesel in the states??
2016-2019
It is a very nice truck. If i could afford it I'd buy it
They're a lot more cool and nice and capable than people give them credit for
Yet every Japanese Motorcycle brand and Indian have a list of a Harley clones in their portfolios...
It’s not a half to and not a 3/4 ton. So it’s in between? Don’t most buy diesel trucks for pulling heavy trailers? Why would I get a Nissan diesel then if it’s not a 3/4 ton? Less expensive than a Ford, RAM, or Chevy?
100K on mine but why are so many cranks going it’s almost daily. Love mine she still feels new
One thing I tell people since most of these are still under warranty is simply to get an additional Nissan warranty to extend a few more years...from there you hope everything breaks because you'll get all new stuff without worrying about the cost
The Fast Lane with Joe Tunney I did! And I will continue to until I can’t. Love my truck
I wanted to purchase one, but I bought a Maxima instead. That was the better deal at the time.
My XD was in the shop 8 times in the first 30k miles. Just a nightmare of check engine lights. I may have gotten a bad one, but I’ll never have another. Great truck when it was working properly though. I could never fully enjoy it because I knew that light was gonna come back on at any time.
That's super frustrating that the dealer/brand couldn't get that fixed for you within a reasonable amount of time...it sounds like you would have been a happy owner if they could have gotten that right for you.
I bet you had a first year huh
I feel you. We just bought a '17 XD Cummins with 40K miles on it. Had it for 5 days and got the check engine light for Turbo Actuator. It's at the dealer now for warranty repair. I feel like this truck is going to have me looking for the next check engine light. Not a good feeling. Drives and feels amazing though so it's kind of a mixed bag of emotions. Although I will say I've spoken with Powerstroke and Duramax owners and they say their trucks were constantly in the shop when they first got them and once the bugs are worked out they are great. Hopefully this truck will be the same.
I have gotten the impression that it takes a long time to get spare parts to nissan truks
Nissan is such a huge company...parts aren't a problem. In fact, parts should be easy to get even for diesels for many years to come.
