I think been dealing with some sort of Quantum Immortality shift that keeps me in parallel universe were most of the content on streaming services and video games in America are Anime and JRPG’s. I ask this because I’m having such a hard time anymore finding very little American content for animation and RPG’s. Is there anyone could please explain to me what’s going on with this?
It’s crazy how many of these actually apply. You know, I’m not sure that I’ve ever used an elixir or mega elixir in an FF game outside of those magic pot enemies at the end of FFVII always hoarded them.
Yay, Xenogears music! Such a great soundtrack. This list was way too relatable. Especially the stuff about intentionally going the wrong way to find all the loot before triggering the plot only to realize you accidentally went the right way. So am I the only one that stops a game to try out the cool new game for just a little bit, get super distracted by the new game, realize I forgot what I was doing in the first game, then need to restart it to get caught up again, but don't want to go back and redo everything, so I just start up a completely different game instead?
This video is… so relatable. Excellent work! I’m serious when I say I’ve done at least each one of these once with something in my life (used to be anime for me).
Aw man, my anime backlog could fill the Smithsonian, but I swear I'm way more likely to re-watch Hunter X Hunter _again_ than actually start watching something new. xD

Wow. I think we are all about 90% of that list. Very good and funny video, Derek. The only thing I didn’t like is you saying you have about another decade or two left in you. Brother, I assume you’re in your thirties. You have half a century or more!!!!
Hahahaha!! Get 80hrs into a game, stop right before the ending because its soooo good, and play it again from the beginning yrs later... im been doing that since i was 10yo, youd think i would have grown out of it 25yrs later😅😅😅 still unforgettable RPGs though, almost as unforgettable as superderek!

The actual meta is to go backwards. Left and right is so obvious, they hide the real good free loot behind you. You have to walk against the camera for a little while, but it is usually there.

We got roasted! 🔥 😂 So many similar thoughts. You got me on the getting to the last final hours of an rpg and then not beating because beating it would mean that it would end and I wouldn’t want that! Lol
Technically I got into something that's featured in an RPG, Riichi Mahjong, which is in Yakuza 7: the first RPG of the series....but that wasn't the specific entry that got me into Riichi Mahjong lol. I have a horrible habit these days of obsessively saving. And yeah, you've gotta go run around to make sure you didn't miss any treasure. I'm not really into trying to beat bosses at the lowest level possible, but I am lazy and don't wanna grind forever. I also never beat FFIII on DS because I was sad I was so close to the end and I didn't wanna finish it yet. Also I do tend to get burnt out, only it's during the endgame grind, before I finish a game.
Not using your potion because you know using cure will save you more money since MP can be restored fully by resting in inns (which is cheaper than buying a lot of potions). But we need all the potions in the world.
The only one I don't do is getting overpowered. I like my first playthrough to be as blind as possible so no crazy broken stuff right away. I will say you forgot find that one really good song and add it to your daily playlist. I've heard Blue Dragon's boss song 100 times what is another 1000 gonna hurt.
I’m amazed by how many JRPG there are in the Apple App Store alone. Is it me, or is it getting harder and harder to find American RPG games anymore? I think I’m losing my mind because every day I check the Apple App Store I see three more RPG games for every American RPG game that disappears. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Play the 7th dragon series and you'll get the item hoarder mentality beaten out of you fast. Also number 34: check your item bag twice to make sure you have everything you need Number 35 (exclusive to etrian odyssey fans): forget the goddamn thread anyway
Grind to get your party overly prepared for the next boss battle, fall asleep in the middle of a battle because your tired of the grinding, you wake up to realize you forgot to save. Try to regrind then you say, "Nah I'm tired of this game." You don't come back to it for like a week or two.
Scary how much of this is me... saving potions to never use them... starting over and over, never finishing. Missed the "all" materia in FF7 once, had to restart, even though I am sure I would've gotten a second one soon. In the end just using blue magick xD so didn't need it
I learned Japanese that I could play them with original language because English translations can never capture all nuances of the characters and the story. That is the kind of jrpg fan I am.
Only TRUE Rpg fans would play Small Saga and throw that cash grab persona tactics in the garbage where it belongs! But all jokes aside, Small Saga is another great indie rpg title that has a ton of work put into it, like Sea of Stars and Chained Echoes. So give it a try if you want another shorter game that's a ton of fun and ends after with one play through with all the bullshit padding removed!
There's nothing like a good grind-fiest. Super Derek's got a cool, soothing voice. Looking forwards to Suikoden 1+2 on the Switch. Bravely default is under-rated! Keep up the good work!
Relatable. Especially the part about going the wrong way in the dungeon to get the loot. My logic had been that the developers wouldn't have wasted time rendering this winding path unless there was something there.
Oh my god, that's a classic! Time to restart the game again! Or when a party member with all the best gear leaves the party? Gotta reload the previous save to strip them of all the stuff you'll need for the next 10 hours! xD
@@MageJiro but then the main character is only a mid tier character at endgame so you dont end up using them and need to restart so you can use the stat boosts on the 3 top tier characters you actually use at the end.

Oh man, number 17 was such a problem for me it's one of the reasons I started my review channel years ago -- to force me to _actually_ finish the games I start. It's worked wonders for me, but I probably wouldn't recommend this solution for everyone. :-P
Oh nooo! That would absolutely kill me! ...Reminds me of the time a friend let me "try" a new game on his copy of Pokemon Yellow... I don't know how he ever forgave me for saving... I assumed it would let me select a save file! >.>
half of them apply to me. i dont have issues with dead ends cuz i use maps... and i dont have an issue with lost progress because i save as often as i can using as many save slots as possible. breaking the game is the one that applies most to me though cuz thats my favorite thing to do lol
Unless we're talking about the kind of RPGs where you build your characters as you level, like Super Mario RPG, Sea of Stars, etc, where character "builds" happen as you go. :)
Fair enough, I've yet to dip into Sea of Stars (it's downloaded though!), and I vaguely remember Mario RPG's levelling system (three stats basically, yeah?) but honestly don't remember it having a huge effect on gameplay variability, but that could admittedly be ignorance.@@SuperDerek
I've never played a Pokemon game. Monsters are like companions, though, so you're not really customizing your character, just choosing a different starting companion. /shrug@@badlatency9979
Dude, it really does. I'm gearing up for Cold Steel IV, and I have a feeling that that leaving Class VII behind is going to really suck. Heck, I still miss Estelle and Joshua from the Sky series! :-P
Thanks dude, I'm glad you want to know my thoughts on the game -- I reviewed the OG a couple of years ago, the remake looks incredible, but I'm not sure if it warrants a whole new review though? 🤔

Just... Don't ask me how many times I've had to restart Fallout or Elder Scrolls games. >.>
How are these so accurate. Especially #17. I’m guilty of all of them but this one makes me feel the worst
Oh man, number 17 was such a problem for me it's one of the reasons I started my review channel years ago -- to force me to _actually_ finish the games I start. It's worked wonders for me, but I probably wouldn't recommend this solution for everyone. :-P
I feel personally attacked.
4:30 I was playing Banjo Kazooie as a kid and mashed the button and didn't realise I was deleting the game and I lost my save file
Same here, honestly! Gotta go for that "ludicrous efficiency!"
Check barrels , pots & drawers is a must for me.
Dude, even in games where there is no looting system for this, I continue to check these things. >.
@@SuperDerek same DQ games are the best at it 😂
Loved this video.👍
Thanks Jay! :)
Checks out
Allow me to be pedantic: if you can customize your character from the start, you're playing a WESTERN RPG, not a JRPG.
Unless we're talking about the kind of RPGs where you build your characters as you level, like Super Mario RPG, Sea of Stars, etc, where character "builds" happen as you go. :)
Just like Pokemon, the biggest WRPG.
#30 hits hard
Dude, it really does. I'm gearing up for Cold Steel IV, and I have a feeling that that leaving Class VII behind is going to really suck. Heck, I still miss Estelle and Joshua from the Sky series! :-P
🙂🎇✨️🎆
Dude you have to do star ocean 2 review
Thanks dude, I'm glad you want to know my thoughts on the game -- I reviewed the OG a couple of years ago, the remake looks incredible, but I'm not sure if it warrants a whole new review though? 🤔
I do that save thing over and over, because of Sierra games.
This actually saved my skin in Cold Steel 3 -- turns out a bug prevented me from creating new save files after a certain point!
@@SuperDerekI just love that they gave us 200 slots they really get us.
I feel attacked
Haha, I woke up today and chose violence. But honestly, I know these by heart because I've done them all myself at some point or another! xD
I understand all of these, but only a few I have done myself. Like 'getting good/breaking' Cold Steel's system. XD
