in PQ it was explained that the reason they had sub personas was because two people with the power of the wild card came in contact with one another (P3 & P4 main character) thus making the wild card system out of whack, I don't know if they have a similar explanation in tactica but the sub persona would probably be only available on persona spin off games

@@dream6562 I'd highly recommend giving Strikers a shot, it honestly doesn't feel at all like a spin-off. It's a good sequel that's built really well on the foundation of P5, an entertaining follow-up of the Phantom Thieves' story that highlights their past growth exceptionally. That said, PQ2 and P5D are harder to recommend unless you're a fan of their genres, P5D especially feels "cashgrabby" at a glance.
To be fair, they already did the chibi artstyle twice between Persona Q and Persona Q2, while they already did the `get caught up into a new realm shenigan with vastly different ruleset then the original games with Strikers, plus between Persona 5 Royale, Persona 5 Strikers, hell even Persona 4 Arena (and Ultimax), they also milked the hell out of a 1(or 2) exclusive playable characters in that story itself a bit too much, that they just seem to either have forgotten them basically or just constantly shove them in as DLC `cashgrab bonuses`, which feel more like Gacha Logic at that point. Even worst when you dive further back to Persona 3 & 4 since they had Theodore, Metis & Marie, which clearly the later got so dang popular they even made her a playable character in the Persona 4 arena. Which its a nice expansion but does not help when its just Final Fantasy 7 Fanfare again with all the spin off titles, especially in rapid succession. If Persona 5 Tactica maybe was 10 or 20 bucks cheaper, i could imagine it fairing better, but its likely due to it feeling more like a persona Q game, but not having as much on the music(Maze of Life, Wait & See, Pull the Trigger, Light the fire up in the night, etc. were just great bops in general) the gameplay looks like it could get boring rather quickly with what i seen on the actual gameplay and i already heard its pulling the Xenoblade chronicles 3 by shoving a fk-ton of tutorials constantly and throwing in new mechanics that should of really been present earlier then later, which those kind of logics can go as far to wait till your half way done with the game itself to introduce even more busted mechanics and on top of that drastically elevate the difficulty of the game by demanding said new mechanic has to be thrown in the mix way too hard on top of that. Overall, i decided i rather throw this one on the backburner like i did with persona 5 strikers to wait for a discount and no other titles for a month to snatch up and despite Super mario RPG remake is stuck to switch exclusivity right now, would be a better pick up instead, despite it being a full price likely way higher then even the original title. Despite the fact i was trying to wheen away from switch based titles to cut down on multi-platform`ing consoles a bit more, by also sticking more to digital titles these days.
@@dream6562 strikers really is a proper game, the story is solid and the confidants feature is missing, but I never really missed the confidants either way because they weren't needed. The gameplay is amazing (however, even after having 100 hours on the game I think the first palace/jail is hard/confusing). THE MUSIC!!! Kind of a hot-take, but strikers has my favourite music in the entire franchise, conclusion, It's a damn good and very refreshing proper sequel (unlike 5D, feels like a cashgrab to me) After P5R I was burned out and didn't want anywhere near p5, however id already bought strikers and it's super refreshing.
Lavenza being a blacksmith with a flying train and the plot involving some time wimey-esque stuff... Someone at Atlus really likes Back To The Future Part 3 huh?
I think the reason no one's talking about this very much is simply P5 fatigue. Fans are getting tired of the Phantom Thieves and want something new. There was a similar general feeling among the fanbase towards the Investigation Team before P5 dropped. Many of us are just ready for new characters.
Nah it’s not really that. The majority of people will always want more of a well done story and its characters, see Yakuza releasing its 16th and 17th games within 3 months of each other rn). It’s mostly the fact that it’s marketed and represented more akin to the Q games (relatively non-canon and more fanservice-y games) and less like the base game or Strikers (canon and well done stories). It’s yet to be seen which this will be, but the trailers make it look more like the former, which is why fans don’t act too excited
I disagree. Like this game is going to be so many people's first Persona game, and very few of the people I've been talking about know who the Phantom Theives are, and can't wait to play this!
@@austinsheehan3994 I doubt that this will be very many people's first Persona game. If someone want to jump into Persona, they're going to get P5R, not some tactics spin-off.

And if you're not brand new to video games, you should not be dismissing an Atlus strategy RPG.
@@austinsheehan3994 most gamers don't limit themselves to a single genre of gaming outside of competative players. This game isn't going to sell because of its genre, this game is going to sell solely because of the Persona branding. I'm not saying it's going to be bad or that it's going to be a flop. I'm saying that there's no buzz behind this game because fans are beyond ready to move on to a new cast of characters. As I said before, it happened to Persona 4 as well. PQ, P4D, and P4AU all released to basicly zero hype. They all sold well enough, but fans were done with the Investigation Team at that point and were ready to move on to a new cast.
This game really does look solid, but man does it feel like it's the perfect game to go completely forgotten. Persona 5 was 6 years ago and people are ready to move on, especially with P3RE on the horizon, the series is specifically known for its overabundance of spinoffs, but the artstyle of this one really makes it feel like a cheap spinoff in a way none of the others have, and tactics spinoffs are like, the default spinoff for any RPG series, including Megaten which has already done tactics spinoffs twice one of which being Devil Survivor, which on top of being one of the most well liked games in the series, is also one that takes a lot from modern Persona. Literally everything about this game makes it feel like it fails to stand out, which is honestly a shame because it really does look fun and well thought out.
I just wanna say about the addition of new characters not being in future titles. Strikers was in development and launched before royal in japan, you can tell by the old p5 portraits and the lack of sprinting in the overworld. Tactica for some reason takes place in the time period in between the school festival and November 18th (for the dlc) and after yaldy so Sophia and Zenkichi wouldn't have been introduced anyways. Labrys was in persona 4 dancing as dlc and wouldn't have fit in the story anyways since arena takes place years after 4.
My problem with the game is like...whats the point? These spinoffs always end with them getting mindwiped and this takes place like...a month before Ren goes home. Like it looks cute but it feels like filler they dropped to make the wait for Reload more tolerable. Edit: nvm, they took dementia pills
They have created a successful IP so they are milking the living crap out of it, it’s a relatively low risk approach to print money, a lot of Japanese devs do this, I don’t like it at all but it’s business
@@ImUrZaddy Could they at least not mind wipe these fools at the end of these spin offs? Strikers is the only one that averts this and even then, that's a sequel to Vanilla p5 (and only Vanilla, it can't happen after Royal)
@@elae4051 P5T takes place in between P5R and P5S, but came out after P5S, which is why P5T's events weren't even remotely mentioned in P5S. It's a consequence of these games not being made in the right order that is causing all of these continuity issues. I hope to God that the final P5 spinoff (preferably P5 Arena) fixes this crap.
You might need to look at the timeline - P5T takes place before P5S. ALTHOUGH, I will say that though I'm rather excited for this game, even from the beginning, I've always been confused as to why it's not a sequel to P5S.
Tactica looks cool and I think I’ll have a fun time playing it….but I just wish they just get on with making the fighting game spin off already and just ending with the P5 era….and also make the fighting game spin off take place AFTER STRIKERS ATLUS, FFS all these spin offs taking place during the main games in persona just makes the timeline more convoluted and it just makes them all feel unimportant by the end despite how good you make the story.
Honestly, I've basically been ignoring Tactica myself. Like, objectively, the game does look great! It looks like it'll be a fun time. But I just can't bring myself to get excited over it. Maybe it is that P5 burnout hitting, or maybe because the announcement for Reload just completely overshadowed it in my brain. But just because I feel that way doesn't mean I don't think it won't be a good game. I'm at least looking forward to hearing what music we'll get from it, because Atlus games always nail the music.
I mean to be fair JRPGs as a whole have great music. At worst they are forgettable. Other genres wished they had something like Eternity Memories of Lightwaves from the FFX2 OST.
I think Zenkichi might have to do with Copyright with team Ninja. It's the exact same reason Dante was relegated to DLC. Specially since I'm sure they would have pack him with Kasumi and Akechi if they could.
Consider that I'm interested in Persona series only to learn about the psychology that show to us and I need a substitute title on November 17th (I will delay on Christmas Mario RPG like Mario Wonder)
I see the concerns but I'm super excited and already have it preordered. I'm fine seeing more from the p5 cast, as well as p3 and 4 casts if Atlus wants to show more of them as well. Of course I'd love a persona 6, but I've genuinely loved all the spinoff games for what they are, even the dancing ones
P6 sub-persona could work as a consequence of bonding with protag wild card. Like, just like protagt respectivamente arcana increase power, when he levels up with his teammates, they could start equiping sub-persona and gaining others powers as well.
It's true that Atlus has the worst DLC practices. Even EA and Ubisoft aren't this bad. Atlus is legit the worst with DLC. Let's check... SMT4 -Locked all 3 of the major superbosses behind DLC, including story relevant ones. -Locked massively important story content (Archangel sidequest) also behind DLC. -Typical grinding Macca/EXP/AP/Incense DLCs. -Costume DLC. P4D -Fan favorite characters like Marie and Adachi were locked behind DLC. -Multiple DLC songs, some good, some BAD. (Shadow World Dede Mouse Ver) -A Hatsune Miku crossover event was DLC. -All DLC in the base release was included in the PS4 version, which could only be obtained as a download code in the $100 special bundle edition for P3D/P5D. SMT4A -Typical grinding DLCs that are nearly required to beat the game due to how tough the last few bosses are even on normal. -DLC to unlock the level cap. -Locked two superbosses behind DLC, who you can also obtain afterwards with exclusive skills. -Locked the ultimate boss behind DLC who is also a MASSIVE fanservice bomb. (fighting Steven with every SMT protagonist up to that point) -Costume DLC P5/P5R -OP game-breaking Personas locked behind DLC. More were added in Royal. -Costume DLC that came with additional music tracks and very powerful assessories. More were added in Royal. -All base P5 DLC was included for free in the PS4 version of Royal, which had its own exclusive DLC. For the PS5, XBO/XBSX, PC, and NS versions of Royal all DLC from both the base game and Royal are free. SJR -Just grinding DLC. P3D/P5D -Costume DLC. -A few DLC songs. -A remaster of P4D for PS4 (an actually good game) was exclusive to the P3D/P5D special edition bundle which cost $100. This is arguably the scummiest "DLC" Atlus has ever done, forcing people to buy the overpriced special edition of TWO bad games to play a remaster of an actually good one, which was the only way to actually play that good game AND they had to get the special edition new or the code for P4D PS4 would have already been used, dooming P4D PS4 to become lost media and inaccessible without hacking. SMT5 -The typical grinding DLC. -The majority of the newly designed monsters were exclusive to DLC, and they were/are some of the best monsters in the game. -The Demi Fiend, the games ultimate boss along with his sidequest chain involving fighting and obtaining all the fiends who are fan favorites, was locked behind DLC. SH2 -Day 1 Story DLC. -ALL the new monster designs were locked behind DLC. -The typical grinding DLC. P5T -Day 1 story DLC involving fan favorite characters Yoshizawa and Aketchi locked behind DLC. -Grinding and costume DLC, like always. P3R -Costume DLC. -P4 costumes/music exclusive as a preorder bonus. So yeah, pretty crappy DLC practices, though Persona DLC was far from their worst offences. That would be base SMT4 and the stunt they pulled with P4D Remastered.
The DLC looks like it has all the meat and potatoes of something that would be released eight months from now(new characters, new game modes, challenges, new maps, ect...). It seems like it would make more financial sense for Atlas to create and release it now when people are still excited about and playing the complete, original game. It's not like the AAA day 1 dlc packs that just have a bunch of skins and premium currency.
I have a bunch of issues with this game. Primarily from a narrative perspective. But to avoid a long rant, my general sentiment is: Why does this need to exist?
It doesn't *need* to exist, but because Atlus have a history of making "spin-off" Tactical RPGs that far outshine the mainline games, and because so many new people are going to be getting into Pesona because of this game, I am super excited that it does.
Same, at least in the storytelling sense. Strikers was an actual sequel, a meaningful continuation of the Phantom Thieves' story that showcased their past growth excellently. New Cinema Labyrinth, despite lacking consequence, was full of uniquely entertaining and insightful interactions between Persona casts. Tactica doesn't seem like it'll have any consequence or many interesting interactions... I honestly can't see any narrative hook here.
I absolutely loved Persona 5 Royal. Its still in my Top 3 best games, however I also dont feel that feeling of excitement I get when theres a new game in my favorite series. I think thats because of 2 reasons. 1. im way more excited for P3 Reload since it will be my first time fully experiencing P3. 2. Its yet another Persona game that takes place in the middle of the story and the characters lose their memory of these events at the end. I'll still love it but id rather it take place after Strikers
I'm super excited for Tactica! It was the biggest announcement in the June Nintendo Direct and I've been counting down the days til it's release since! Of course, I've never played a Persona game before, but Atlus' tactical/strategic RPGs are legendary, and everything is looking like this will be a GOTY contender for sure!
I think the reason you don’t really care about the story because they didn’t really market its story to begin with…which is kind of a bummer. I don’t wanna say they don’t care about making a story for this one because obviously that will ultimately be not true….but I think it just gives off the feeling they just made this game for the sake of experimenting and they slapped the P5 cast on it for the sake of them being the most marketable persona cast.
It didn't help that Atlus didn't reveal too much, though likely due to narrative spoilers. Though some parts like Toshiro's potential awakening in the last story trailer is expected due to the new character and Arcana pattern in Royal and Strikers.
The one thing i praise about the spinoff games is that its always persona 5 mechanics in a different genre rather than the games its basef off of but with a persona 5 coat of paint i once feared that strikes was going to be a dynasty warriors like to the extreme instead its just p5 but a action game.
The art has grown on me. I think it works well for a Tactics game with it being more cartoonish. That coming from someone who has never cared for chibi style. I love Tactics and all Persona games, so I’m definitely already playing this. Though, it of course comes out on a day I have to work 10 hours. ;-; I would play any Persona tactic spin-off. Persona 5 I would say is the best fit as it was already a more upbeat style game which I feel is easier to translate into this style. Not that they couldn’t make it work with another Persona game like P3.
Don’t want to be a negative Nancy, but to me I just don’t care? I don’t like the art style in game and even in 2D (looks like a worse version of Q), tactical RPG gameplay isn’t really my favorite type of the turn based genre, and also the fact the story takes place during the main story of P5 (if I’m wrong let me know) makes me not really care the most. We know the PT will just forget everything and the new characters introduced in this game will cease to exist, just like zenkichi and Sophia… it’s unfortunate. Also the day one story dlc is disgusting. Especially since it has akechi and kasumi it feels like they’re being money hungry about this. I could say more about this game like “oh more p5 stuff 😒” but that isn’t the main reason for not caring for this game
I'm more interested in this than I was about the Persona Dynasty Warriors game. More for the gameplay and honestly I have no clue what the story will be. Also fuck day one story dlc
Tbh I know most people aren't excited for this game but It looks fun and i wanna play it tbh even if it's not the best game ever. I just love tactical styled games and we don't get many triple a ones outside of fire emblem and it is based on persona 5 plus the art style is kinda neat. Can't wait to be able to play persona and rabbids kingdom!
I would love for Persona 6 to have the Persona sub system from P1 and both 2s. Would also love for P6 to have a female main character, adult cast with real jobs, no calendar system, and to never see high school again.....we all know that will never happen.
Maybe they changed the name to triple threat because it’s only available with 3 party members? Lol side note, I’ve never seen half of this footage on the game, I guess I missed the gameplay breakdown or something from atlus
Regarding the dlc, I wonder how much of it is Atlus and how much of it is Sega? Sega games in general have bad dlc and this wasn't an issue until Atlus got bought by them
The one thing all these Persona spinoffs did to me personally was take away the magic of Shoji Meguro's Persona compositions. Like literally anybody could have made them.
I imagine that for most fans, myself included, who made the music for each spinoff matters far less than the following: Is it consistent with the spin-off's tone? Yes. Does it match the style of the core game (or games) it's drawing from? Yes. And does it sound awesome? Absolutely!
Yeah, they could put a little more spice in the game and also make the second story as a post game of how you beat the game the main story instead of a DLC. It could have felt more rewarding but that's my opinion
8:43 I hate wildcard because I just like the starting persona but they want you to ditch it right away in every game. I hate it 🤪 I want to use my cool persona I had at the beginning but unless I get really good cards from the game to give it abilities (spells? Idk what the moves the personas do are called now that I think about it 😅) that are not shit and then just raise the stats using items it’s just not going to be a fun time. I saw someone do it in persona 4 using Izanagi as a challenge and it looked hard. But I love the look of Izanagi and jokers persona and Orpheus
This game did something that i see fire emblem fail at and that is all characters sharing a single exp bar so that no one lacks behind and this alone sold me on the game lol
I don't like the character art style, but I didn't like the PQ style more. I dunno, I think the bigger the head compared to the body the more disgusting I find it. :p But whatever, not EVERYTHING has to be for me. I'm sure someone likes it or Funko Pops wouldn't exist.
people really saying strikers characters can't be in tactica because of the timeframe, meanwhile Q2 literally has characters from 3 different points in time and one from a different timeline lmao
yeah PQ seems to of caused a brain spark in Atlus, the idea of chibi-sona with sub classes to it specifically overall its just alright - but i couldn't recommend cause Atlus and predatory monetization on things that SHOULD BE IN THE GAME FREELY - you bought the game already but its NEVER enough, no thanks atlus
i totally agree the colors are colorful but so are the colorful colors in mario rabbids which i think are better games in every way besides the framerate since switch is weak
My overall criticism is that this spin-off seemingly does nothing for the greater persona timeline. Like you can pull this part out and nothing would be affected in that universe One huge missed opportunity that I've received some flak for online is that since this is a tactics game reminiscent of fire emblem they could have fit in DLC where P3 and P4 characters could have been playable on the field, but give the options for Fire Emblem style side conversations to give some worldbuilding or given that blog for past characters: for example, wouldn't it be so awesome to learn that Ann is a fan of Yukari's modeling, or have Mitsuru give management advice to Haru, or have Chie and Makoto discuss their respective philosophical views on justice and upholding the law, since they both aim to be police? And can you imagine alternate Phantom thieve skins for older characters like Naoto or Koromaru?
We already had many character crossover interactions (including most of the examples you've mentioned) in Persona Q2. Say what you will about it's main story but its side stories and character building moments were consistently insightful and entertaining. And then there's Tactica which unfortunately doesn't seem to have much of any real story appeal to it, at least not from the trailers...
Don't really get most of the disinterest in the game considering that people like Persona Q. Yeah, Q and T are different games, but they have a similar art style and story style. Not only that but T looks to have a more similar play style to Persona 5 than Q. However the Shin Megami Tensei/Persona fandom is full of people who hate everything Atlus pulls out that is not the thing that they want so I'm not surprised about the disinterest. I wouldn't also be surprised if once the game is released, people will suddenly notice the game and then rant about how good it actually is (a behavior that occurred with P5S).
because the Q games did something new. Q2 wasn't as original but it at least had really good character writing, fun interactions and great music. this one is just another persona 5 spinoff with persona 5 characters and persona 5 music. we've had enough persona 5 now.
My only complain of Persona DLCs Ever since Q they all end up being meaningless Like takes place somewhere in the middle and then everyone forgets what happened That being said, as a big big sucker for tactics games, cannot wait for tactica like persona spinoffs to take the place Q had No more Q I am so done with the writting in those ones
In an environment where everything takes itself too seriously these days, I'm glad we're getting this game. I don't understand the constant edgy circle-jerking in this community, because that's literally all we get these days. At least Atlus is still willing to experiment, probably the only JRPG devs left willing to do so in the current year.
nobody was excited fo tactica cus the market is flooded with turn baded strategy games let alone better ones plus ppl that like persona and atlus are used to turn based rpg not turn based tactical style, or they like the rated m edgy stories and this is rated teen, not that it cant be edgyish, but definitely not as much with a teen rating and that art style lol
I love the persona series, but pffff why milking such a great thing so much... And indeed all those (day one) dlc shows that those spin-offs are not love projects but mere money grabs.
im cool on atlus at this point i beat persona 5 royale then shin megami tensai 5 then soul hackers 2 i am officially bored of their games rather play persona strikers when it comes to persona spinoffs found tactica boring and would rather play mario rabbids 1 and 2, better games in everyway besides low framerate also just started valkyria chronicles 4 and havent started xcom yet but i have complete edition
14:07 exact same. Gameplay will carry the experience for me. As for the story… yeah it’s going to be bland and predictable. Turns out this was all the work of some malevolent third act God character who’s linked to either Erina or Butler Guy. PT beats God again. PT get their memories wiped rendering everything pointless 😒 TBH the reason why Strikers is remembered fondly is that it was actually allowed to take the characters past the original events of the story and develop them. Here? No.
I think the reason why people aren’t talking about this new person 5 side game because of strikers wasn’t that good and this look goofy and people want persona 6 just give it to us
Ok the dlc and other charachters not being here isn't really a fault of this game specifically, that's just your gripes in general with Atlus. And decisions like that are most often out of the hands of the creatives themselves and is more the fault of the executives who don't actually work on games. So it's not a fair criticism to put on the developers.

Kind of a hot-take, but strikers has my favourite music in the entire franchise, conclusion, It's a damn good and very refreshing proper sequel (unlike 5D, feels like a cashgrab to me)
After P5R I was burned out and didn't want anywhere near p5, however id already bought strikers and it's super refreshing.

Lavenza being a blacksmith with a flying train and the plot involving some time wimey-esque stuff... Someone at Atlus really likes Back To The Future Part 3 huh?
Labrys being stuck in a fighting game is such a shame. I'd love to see her in anything else at this point.
I doubt she'll bein anything else but they're apparently making another fighting game so hopefully she'll be in that
I doubt she'll bein anything else but they're apparently making another fighting game so hopefully she'll be in that
she did dance to Today in P3D and seeing a 3d labrys was beautiful
I am the only one in the world that is really looking forward to tactica, especially after I beat the dlc for Mario + rabbids sparks of hope.
@@jeezycreezy4220 You are completely ignoring the gaming community who love turn-based tactical games, like FE, the OG FF and XC games.
If someone absolutely loves 3D Platformers and doesn't care much for 2D games, are they going to get Mario Odyssey or Mario Wonder?
They all sold well enough, but fans were done with the Investigation Team at that point and were ready to move on to a new cast.
i just feel that everybody already burned from P5 and strikers was a mixed bag, so a new game of P5 with a spinoff gameplay is just hmmmm...
1. Sub-Personae have already been in the Q duology.
2. Labrys and Sho Minazuki are literally in 3/5D as DLC.
Oh it is kinda like Devil Survivor with being able to equip any persona to any person. That completely changes my view of this game positively.
Fun fact: There's no memory wipe in P5T (except for the DLC mission that has Sumire and Akechi in it...)
@@345boneshoss5 Ren and co. took their dementia pills that day it seems.
Except for the DLC.
9:10 the time this game takes place is around the new year (in persona 5 timeline) so there cannot be Zenkichi and Sofia cuz we havent met them yet
>hoping that atlus will acknowledge any smt/persona game before 3
smt 1 heroine referenced in persona 3 reload, so there's that.
same day as mario rpg remake
@@Chelaxim TRUE. JRPGs generally have absolutely fantastic music. You make a good point.
I think Zenkichi might have to do with Copyright with team Ninja. It's the exact same reason Dante was relegated to DLC.
Specially since I'm sure they would have pack him with Kasumi and Akechi if they could.
No its just because this game takes place literally the month after third semester so zenkichi doesnt exist yet
Consider that I'm interested in Persona series only to learn about the psychology that show to us and I need a substitute title on November 17th (I will delay on Christmas Mario RPG like Mario Wonder)
Labrys is actually in Persona 3 Dancing as a backup dancer or as DLC sadly, but hey I'll take what I can get I guess
I'm looking forward to it but I definitely feel like the minority here.
same here😂😅
It's true that Atlus has the worst DLC practices. Even EA and Ubisoft aren't this bad. Atlus is legit the worst with DLC. Let's check...
SMT4
-Locked all 3 of the major superbosses behind DLC, including story relevant ones.
-Locked massively important story content (Archangel sidequest) also behind DLC.
-Typical grinding Macca/EXP/AP/Incense DLCs.
-Costume DLC.
P4D
-Fan favorite characters like Marie and Adachi were locked behind DLC.
-Multiple DLC songs, some good, some BAD. (Shadow World Dede Mouse Ver)
-A Hatsune Miku crossover event was DLC.
-All DLC in the base release was included in the PS4 version, which could only be obtained as a download code in the $100 special bundle edition for P3D/P5D.
SMT4A
-Typical grinding DLCs that are nearly required to beat the game due to how tough the last few bosses are even on normal.
-DLC to unlock the level cap.
-Locked two superbosses behind DLC, who you can also obtain afterwards with exclusive skills.
-Locked the ultimate boss behind DLC who is also a MASSIVE fanservice bomb. (fighting Steven with every SMT protagonist up to that point)
-Costume DLC
P5/P5R
-OP game-breaking Personas locked behind DLC.
SJR
-Just grinding DLC.
P3D/P5D
-Costume DLC.
SMT5
-The typical grinding DLC.
-The majority of the newly designed monsters were exclusive to DLC, and they were/are some of the best monsters in the game.
-The Demi Fiend, the games ultimate boss along with his sidequest chain involving fighting and obtaining all the fiends who are fan favorites, was locked behind DLC.
SH2
-Day 1 Story DLC.
-ALL the new monster designs were locked behind DLC.
-The typical grinding DLC.
P5T
-Day 1 story DLC involving fan favorite characters Yoshizawa and Aketchi locked behind DLC.
-Grinding and costume DLC, like always.
P3R
-Costume DLC.
-P4 costumes/music exclusive as a preorder bonus.
So yeah, pretty crappy DLC practices, though Persona DLC was far from their worst offences. That would be base SMT4 and the stunt they pulled with P4D Remastered.
I'm fairly excited for Tactica and will try it out on Gamepass. Persona 3 Reload is definitely taking the spotlight, though
great video Macca :)
I’ve been playing tactica the past few days and I’m really enjoying it.
P5T will probably be one of those games that i'll enjoy but never consider replaying it again
"The colors are supercolorful'' - Macca, 2023
I have a bunch of issues with this game. Primarily from a narrative perspective. But to avoid a long rant, my general sentiment is:
Why does this need to exist?
Even though i don't like persona 5 at all, i will probably play this if it ends up being a worthy sucessor to devil survivor
Pokémon 3D viewer pronunciation crisis all over again lmao 15:29
According to the timeline Tactica takes place before Strikers
If they make another P5 game, things will happen
P5 fighting game is coming definitely
I actually have a 2009 Honda Civic, pretty cool, but it's too old
Idk why I even put that down, that's not even what I drive
Sub personas were a part of pq and pq2, and they work great
I'm super excited for Tactica!
It was the biggest announcement in the June Nintendo Direct and I've been counting down the days til it's release since!
Of course, I've never played a Persona game before, but Atlus' tactical/strategic RPGs are legendary, and everything is looking like this will be a GOTY contender for sure!
If you've never played P5 before, you're probably gonna get spoiled to death with the OG game. Are you aware of that ?
@@Valordun I'm not bothered by it... A good story is still captivating for viewers / readers even if they know the ending.
putting this up against baldurs gate 3 for game of the year is like hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby if i'm honest. there is no way this gets goty
I love Tactics and all Persona games, so I’m definitely already playing this. Though, it of course comes out on a day I have to work 10 hours. ;-;
I would play any Persona tactic spin-off.
P5/R's main story is already over when P5T starts
@@makotoniijima862 ok thanks. Shows how much I don’t really care for this game 😅
It looks like Mario + Rabbids variety of XCOM-lite but actually fun. Keeping my eye out.
I would love for Persona 6 to have the Persona sub system from P1 and both 2s. Would also love for P6 to have a female main character, adult cast with real jobs, no calendar system, and to never see high school again.....we all know that will never happen.
No calendar system? That’s like half the game?
sub personas aren't from persona 1 and 2.
This looks like Mario + Rabbids combined with Persona 5 so I'm a bit hyped.
I love Persona 5 and tactics games but enough is enough. This one can rot until it's 75% off.
for sure. this is the first persona game i haven't even been slightly excited for
Maybe they changed the name to triple threat because it’s only available with 3 party members? Lol side note, I’ve never seen half of this footage on the game, I guess I missed the gameplay breakdown or something from atlus
Regarding the dlc, I wonder how much of it is Atlus and how much of it is Sega? Sega games in general have bad dlc and this wasn't an issue until Atlus got bought by them
say it louder bestie
The one thing all these Persona spinoffs did to me personally was take away the magic of Shoji Meguro's Persona compositions. Like literally anybody could have made them.
What do you mean ? Somebody had to make these soundtracks first for others to copy the style.
I imagine that for most fans, myself included, who made the music for each spinoff matters far less than the following:
Is it consistent with the spin-off's tone? Yes.
Does it match the style of the core game (or games) it's drawing from? Yes.
And does it sound awesome? Absolutely!
Personally I’m just excited because I love the Panty & Stocking art style.
Yeah, they could put a little more spice in the game and also make the second story as a post game of how you beat the game the main story instead of a DLC. It could have felt more rewarding but that's my opinion
Something about this game feels… strange to me
Idk I love p5 and have had some experience with srpg so I am kinda excited for p5t

I think this game subconsciously made me go and play XCOM 2.
My overall criticism is that this spin-off seemingly does nothing for the greater persona timeline. Like you can pull this part out and nothing would be affected in that universe
One huge missed opportunity that I've received some flak for online is that since this is a tactics game reminiscent of fire emblem they could have fit in DLC where P3 and P4 characters could have been playable on the field, but give the options for Fire Emblem style side conversations to give some worldbuilding or given that blog for past characters: for example, wouldn't it be so awesome to learn that Ann is a fan of Yukari's modeling, or have Mitsuru give management advice to Haru, or have Chie and Makoto discuss their respective philosophical views on justice and upholding the law, since they both aim to be police?
And can you imagine alternate Phantom thieve skins for older characters like Naoto or Koromaru?
We already had many character crossover interactions (including most of the examples you've mentioned) in Persona Q2.
Say what you will about it's main story but its side stories and character building moments were consistently insightful and entertaining.
And then there's Tactica which unfortunately doesn't seem to have much of any real story appeal to it, at least not from the trailers...
I'm getting heavy Panty and Stocking vibes from the art and character designs.
Q2 wasn't as original but it at least had really good character writing, fun interactions and great music. this one is just another persona 5 spinoff with persona 5 characters and persona 5 music. we've had enough persona 5 now.
i like p5 and tactics games, but this is kind of an afterthought for me
My only complain of Persona DLCs
Ever since Q they all end up being meaningless
Like takes place somewhere in the middle and then everyone forgets what happened
That being said, as a big big sucker for tactics games, cannot wait for tactica like persona spinoffs to take the place Q had
No more Q
I am so done with the writting in those ones
The gameplay gives me XCOM vibes so I'm down either way.
The game looks cool, but I'm probably not going to get it unless it goes on sale or something.
I'm pumped for it
In an environment where everything takes itself too seriously these days, I'm glad we're getting this game. I don't understand the constant edgy circle-jerking in this community, because that's literally all we get these days. At least Atlus is still willing to experiment, probably the only JRPG devs left willing to do so in the current year.

11:53 $20.00 for a DLC isn't that bad
14:07 exact same. Gameplay will carry the experience for me. As for the story… yeah it’s going to be bland and predictable.
Turns out this was all the work of some malevolent third act God character who’s linked to either Erina or Butler Guy. PT beats God again. PT get their memories wiped rendering everything pointless 😒
TBH the reason why Strikers is remembered fondly is that it was actually allowed to take the characters past the original events of the story and develop them. Here?
So it's not a fair criticism to put on the developers.
i hate persona 5 so much, its just all atlus makes anymore.
