When i went to get my license, they asked everyone why they were interested in the hobby; my response was, “i’m here for the chicks” the laughter was explosive in response. Nahh. Not cool. But it is useful. If you and your dad are both able to use your radios, in a private emergency where you can’t use or access cellular, you’ll be able to communicate. I’m sure there’s nothing more important to your dad than being there for you in a time of need. Getting your license with him makes that possible
Just got uv9rpro. I found it really weak receiving signal even in the menu already set to 1. Just waiting my programming cable to arrive i will try to tweak this squelch setting
i BOUGHT 3 UV-5R from Amazon 7-25-2021 One has a white label in the batt dept It will broadcast FR and GRMC freqs the other 2 look like newer model have blue labels they will NOT broadcast FR or GRMC
