So I don't know why this video is blowing up now after 2 years, but I suppose it's tobacco season. So I will upload some more videos as I grow them this year to share more details. I didn't realize people were so interested in it, it's a fascinating hobby. About 10 years I've been growing tobacco and I've tried many different methods of drying and harvesting, I will do a follow-up later in the season Once I finalize everything. Somebody asked me about ghost plant, I guess I must have talked about it in the video it's a couple of years old so I forgot. Hi I’m from the uk and I’m learning to grow fruit and veg As a smoker I’m wanting to learn to grow my own tobacco. What is the best plant to grown and once leaves dried out can I just smoke it or have to add other stuff?
First time trying to grow tobacco. Planted the seeds about a week ago, they’ve sprouted now. And honestly I don’t care if It’s the best quality, I just want to feel accomplished in something that is a very unique hobby
Growing tobacco is illegal in Australia, always blew my mind as a kid that you could go to jail for something they readily sold everywhere, cannabis made sense because of it being illegal, even though it didn't make sense for it to be illegal at least it was consistent. I always figured that is was the power of 'big tobacco' lobbying to kill competition from local growers. Anyway, laws never stopped me doing something I felt was not morally wrong, so I appreciate this knowledge!
growing up in the 70s and early 80s I have worked numerous summers in the scorching heat of the southern NC tobacco fields and tobacco barns (old hot ass wood barns). Hard work and the only way we could earn money for school clothes. We actually worked from sun-up (06:00am) to sundown (1800) with a one-hour lunch break (all the older women would stay at the farmers home and cook the lunch...garden grown food and meat raised on the land- sweet tea to wash it down. I hated the hard work but as I look back - it created a strong work ethic for me later in life. Tobacoo was much "cleaner" back then...still sprayed with chemicals for the sucker leaves which really didn't work all that great. We still had to "sucker" and "top" each field a couple times each season- worst part of working in the bacca field was suckering! I do not smoke cigarettes, but I still found the smell of curing tobacco to be quite enticing on a late summer afternoon day. Unfortunately, this way of harvesting tobacco is long gone...Oh yea forgot to mention the HUMUNGOUS tobacco leaf eating worms (horn tipped worms). They could devour a whole plant in a couple of days-I use to collect them (LOL)in a Pringles can and toss them down my sister's shirt whenever she made me angry for some dumb shit. Seconds later after her screams, i am dashing through the field dying from laughter running for my life. The fun and joy we had was off the scale compared to today's crowd.
Wonder if any natural wild tobacco plants exist in the south in some remote place? Why did they get rid of growing? Where the hell do they grow it all now? Other countries?
I grew Havana tobacco this year I cured the tobacco stack together in a pylon I left them there for 14 days and remove leaves as they turned from dark green to Yellow to Brown the leaves are great quality very good for cigars and wonderful blunt wrappers give it a try I did and I'm happy with the results
Shamanic tobacco having both an maoi (monoamineoxidase inhibitor) plus dmt alkaloids is so freaking cool! MAOI’s inhibit the enzyme that breaks down the DMT before it enters your brain, thus rendering the drug active (if over 20-30 mg of DMT is present). In theory you could create a dmt experience from just the compounds in that one plant alone. Usually you need the root of 2 special trees and leaves containing those alkaloids separately foraged! Would love a more in depth video on the Shamanic Tobacco and its uses, cheers bro!
@@curtbradley549 I don't think he's a fool, but the fact that he is willing to laugh makes me think he knows he can be one and that's good enough for me
I subbed literally because of this statement. "In a SHTF scenario, everybody stores stuff, food, ammunition, tobacco will always be a trade item". Being impartial is important, even if you disagree generally with what somebody does, like in this scenario, we can bond together from our want to be prepared. You may not personally agree that I have x, y, z guns, and I may not agree on some of the stuff you may own, but we both understand being prepared is smart. We can take that knowledge and share it among our community who MAY be interested in doing that type of thing, where myself or you wouldn't have that specific piece of knowledge. Great video. Reasonable, down to earth, and communication wins out every single time.
Growing tobacco for the first time this summer. I had no idea how huge these plants get! Some of my Kentucky burly leaves are bigger than my torso. One of my oriental plants has about 80-100 seed pods on the top, you are spot on about them sustaining me for life.
Iv grown the Havana 608 and the Black Sea Samsun from the same company… they were both very good and i live in pennsylvaina so I actually created a small fire curing barn from random plywood and timber from the back yard.. and dug a hole 5 feet deep under it made a sawdust pile fire with oak maple and white birch to slowly smolder and hung the tobacco on wooden dowels for 6 weeks continuously.. it worked amazingly ended well with the leaves having a very dark Maduro look and a woody chocolate scent and the flavor is absolutely delicious…
This is fantastic! I am a man prone to acquiring hobbies as well as a bloke who only a few weeks ago saw a video on how to roll cigars and thought "where the hell can i get tobacco leaves from?!?" 😂
Quitting is difficult. I smoked cigarettes from age 15 to 20, where I was still jumping between that and vaping for a couple years. I exclusively vaped for 3 years until age 25. I didn't look up how to quit, I didn't go to any groups, I just spent a good amount of time listening to my mind and body and realized it was simply not possible for me to just quit. People always told me "don't wait, just quit" but waiting is what allowed me to quit. I had to find the right time to get tired of it, to be told by someone I respect that I need to quit, and then in the process of pulling myself out of my rock bottom, I realized the time had come and I made a big push and pulled out a bunch of reserved fortitude and adopted a forced "people I see smoking/drinking disgust me" mindset and I haven't touched nicotine in 2 years now, alcohol 3, weed 4, caffeine 5. I'm simply not someone that can do things in moderation, maybe one day, but not anytime soon.
Thanks for sharing information about Rustica. It's a special kind of tobacco. The effects are much different than N. Tabacum. Rustica gives me similar effects to opium poppy, I've tried both day after day. Both plants relax me deeply and help me think about stuff without negative emotions. Everything in moderation- I've been growing psychoactive plants for a few years now. This year I planted 20 Rustica plants and It's more than enough because I'm a seasonal pipe smoker- I hate smoking indoors and It's not fun to smoke outside in the winter. Rustica is good for pipe and nasal snuff in my opinion. Growing tobacco is actually illegal in my country- you have to register your plantation and grow varieties approved by government or else you might get a fine and they destroy your crop. I don't think that most of the people even know and police doesn't even care unless It's a huge plantation. Fun fact, out of all psychoactive plants and mushrooms that I used, I had full blown mania with thought disorders from extremely hot chilis and chili extracts and coffee in high amounts. Chilis, tobacco and opium poppy share similar effects- I believe they activate opioid receptors, whether directly like poppy or indirectly like chilis. I don't know about tobacco but I heard It increases endorphins somehow. The more you know. I've learned about fermenting tobacco after I left my moist weed behind a book shelf in a jar for a year- the color was brown and fruity flavour turned into "spoiled left for a day in the sun fruit" kind of aroma but the effects were okay. By the way, I used to grow weed too, I still do 😂 I had a unique Sativa x Ruderalis strain (Dr. Grinspoon x Ruderalis F1), extremely tough strain with THC and CBD. I believe only Lebanese strain by Ace Seeds is the only sativa ruderalis strain available to buy. I also had a collection of poisonous plants, I still have Henbane, Belladonna, Datura and Monkshood but as ornamental plants, I don't play with them. I'm also really passionate about plants- the process of growing and breeding is more satisfying than just smoking, that's why weed smokers "like" me. That's why stay away from them because they just want some cheap weed to smoke and don't even care about plants, don't want me to learn anything. They want me to tell them how to grow weed step by step lol Gardening is such a satisfying hobby for me. I have a lot of physical activity, lost a lot of weight, It's relaxing, I don't spend so much time staring at the screen and I have something to smoke, organic fruit, aromatic herbs and ornamental plants like tomatoes, watermelons, a few varieties of chili, basil, a few varieties of mint, lemon balm, ornamental tobacco, morning glories. Greetings from Poland!
Can you recommend tobacco seeds similar to American Spirit tobacco? I'm new to this but I used to smoke American Spirit and it was the best for me. Thanks
I grow cannabis for the same reason you grow tabacco, for the love of the plant. Love watching them grow and get to their full potential. Always learn something on every grow, especially outdoors. I don’t even smoke anymore and it’s a lot of time growing, drying and curing it. I just give it to anyone who wants it because legalization and the reservations around me totally killed prices so it’s next to impossible to even sell.
Yeah I've been growing for 30 years I love it, cannabis is my first love. I've grown some strange hybrids from 60 year old Thai seeds, still have some of them actually. Haven't grown in the last few years for the reasons you mentioned. It's just too affordable and we're not legally allowed to grow it in washington, because they screwed up when they legalized it
@@carpo719 got any recommendations of literature I can read to learn the craft? I could make a pretty penny in my country if I could produce top tier flower :)
One of the Elders in my Tribe shared with me how to identify the traditional tobacco we grew and used around the Mohave Desert. Ive been growing it for 2 years now and collecting the seeds. I don’t know how it is related to other tobacco plants but we call it coyote tobacco and it grows as a small bush. The leaves are not very big, mostly palm size but they look like the bigger tobacco leaves. I would like to start growing and curing enough for ceremonies but not really sure how to cure them. It is interesting to work with them and the smell reminds me of datura leaves. But if I just handle the fresh leaves or seed pods for more than 15 - 20 minutes they will start giving me the shakes like Ive had to much caffeine and cigarettes.
I've been inspired to grow Tabacco despite having quit smoking just to have on hand for making my own pesticides and giving humming birds/moth's some flowers. Well done! I have a whole new appreciate for the plant thanks to you. Well done.
The flowets are amazing and have a great smell. All the flies in my greanhouse have disappeared. I blieve its an ornamental tobacco plant. Its been flowering for months.
My mom vetoed me planting tobacco for the hummingbirds last year. Never considered the value of tobacco skyrocketing if shtf. Thanks for your insights.
Awesome, I don’t smoke but I saw a picture of a tobacco leaf as big as a short man or child and ever since then I wanted to see if that was true. Instead of stringing them could it be feasible to clamp a row partially between two boards and suspend them on a shelf or rack? Idk. Thanks for the video
Awesome video man thank you! I’ve just started to grow my own tobacco and was doing research on curing drying ect and came across your channel and I’m so stoked I did. Since a young age I’ve loved plants and I’m fascinated by their uses and compounds. I feel a bit silly I’ve been looking for something to use in my vegetable garden and back yard nursery as a pesticide and this is perfect. I can grow it, make it and I don’t have to give my money to chemical manufacturing company. I know exactly what it is, how to apply it and with hold times not that you would need to spray it on anything you were going to pick within a week or two anyway. I’ve been looking in shops and online for something I’ve had under my nose the whole time. I even knew as a child they lined the hen boxes with tobacco leaves and never had problems with lice ect I all makes sense now thank you man and thank you Mother Nature 🙏❤️
What matters more is you deciding you are not having it again and remember yourself the benefits. Like time, health, money. Less trash and polution. And more 🙏
I rode with the Marlboro man for 35 years. I quit 12 years ago. I do love to puff on my pipes though. Natural and not inhaled. Pleasing, relaxing, delicious! Gonna buy some whole leaf and try to make my own flake. From there I would like to try growing my own.
I got in touch with Rustica through the Nasal ingestion Rapeh. Total game changer. Cigarettes are no longer addictive like they used to be ,and you can enjoy the mental clarity and emotional stability of a smoke alongside downright health benefits! Thanks for the info. I consider starting to grow and create my own blends.
First time growing this year, I’m not a smoker but we have a growing flower farm and I’m fascinated by it already. I will probably give it away as gifts
It's definitely worth It's weight in gold and perhaps even more given the proper scenario. The more desperate and beat down people are, the more they will want tobacco. The seeds, growing knowledge, drying and curing, and processing know how, would all be in high demand during the desperate times. I also love growing tobacco, along with growing all different kinds of plants, and I love smoking a pipe. I have no reason NOT to grow it! This is my 1st year growing tobacco and my plants are looking amazing. I'm growing oronoko strain. 1 of my plants I'm letting go to seed is almost 9ft tall. I swear, some of the lower leaves on mine are the size of like 15 cell phones put together. It's ridiculous. It's amazing what great compost and a micronutrient rich fertilizer will do for any plant. I cannot wait until mine is ready to smoke!
I’m very fascinated by all the information with visuals. Very pleasant to listen to you, and your idea of how people store food and stuff but never think to store seeds that can sustain you. So true
You really spiked an interest in growing tobacco, my friend! It's a little late to start now where I am, but definitely come this spring I'll try an outdoor grow
I discovered two kinds of seeds this year to have a go growing and was amazed how well they did, I don't smoke but most of my friends do, so I thought why not save them some money, your videos are a great source of tips and advice many thanks
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I too am a nonsmoker who is interested to grow tobacco just for fun. I find the plant interesting and I want to upset my health obsessed friends family and neighbors. If I turn in a decent crop I'm going to offer it to a homeless guy I know who is always scouting my workplace for butts.
Tabaco is a deadly plant. It is so addictive. It changes your brain chemistry permanently. Just simply google tabaco related deaths. These grifters will gaslight you but they dont care if you get hooked and die earlier down the line. Just dont get potentially deadly information from dudes like this. Look for scientific information.
At the cost of just $20 for you to have a way to grow tobacco if ever needed. Weather is now or for prepping it's a small price to pay for a fairly EASY crop t grow. It grows fast and MANY people like tobacco in one way or another.
I don't use tobacco anymore but this was an excellent video. Highly informational. I love plants as well, I appreciate you spreading this knowledge man.
I grew some 2 years ago and it tasted like smoking 'old rope' I'm going to try again this year, and if it comes out the same then I'll be smoking some more, 'old rope' Maybe I will try and market it under the name, 'old rope'?
i was afraid my little yellow flowers would be losing their seeds until i watched this, the cute lill things just turned yellow, pretty similar to what you have in hand, Thank You, i can now watch for the flowers to turn to pods without anxiety
Very cool. I am about to start this journey for a few reasons that you mentioned, so this information is invaluable, I am also a lover of growing all things. I would like to try to experiment by growing a few near potatoes in hopes that it will deter potato beetles. Some interesting info about tobacco which has been "hidden" is that it can have benefits for neurodegenerative disorders like Parkinson's, which runs in my family. Now that tobacco is regarded as such a nasty thing, that research seems to have stopped.
Facts, people smoked real “pipe” tobacco that wasn’t loaded with chemicals and additives there whole life with no cancer or Lu g disease, cancer is a reaction to your body being poisoned for a long time, real tobacco that’s properly grown and cured isn’t what people buy at the gas station, it’s an ingredient in cigarettes but definitely not the only ingredient. If you smoke real homegrown tobacco without the chemicals that are added now, I guarantee there will be no cancer risk, you might have lung issues when you are in your 80s but nothing like you see with cigarettes
I never considered smoking disgusting in the least. I smoked for 30 years. I quit 20 years ago this year. I told myself when the price per pack goes up to $4.00, I'll quit. I quit when it was $4.50 a pack. Now, it's just plain outrageous. I would smoke again in a smokey heartbeat if I were growing my own tobacco. I'm not concerned with health because when I quit drinking in 95', I was eventually supposed to feel better. The same was said if I quit smoking lol. Bull !. I really enjoyed smoking, probably more than anything else and I truly miss that. I've smoked cigarettes straight from the farm and it was like smoking gold. I want that kind of tobacco what ever kind that may be.
Your body needs nicotine and comes from many veges like potato celery etc. the second biggest source of nicotine is egg plants. It’s the 2000 chemicals like arsenic the smoke companies add that do the damage
Where I live (Norway), a pack with 20 cigarettes cost about 15 $. I am NOT joking. If you are a big smoker and buy a pack per day. ..Thats almost 500 $ per month. Have a nice day.☺
Hi from Galston in Scotland. Thanks for your video. I have just ordered golden virginia seeds and am looking forward to playing with the plants. I have gas central heating. Sit my produce on some kitchen roll and hey presto. They are my insta-dry method for my tomatoees and all other sun dried things. Cheers
Great video. Lots of interesting data coming to light regarding tobacco and nicotine. Harvard has a very good paper on it. Several doctors and researchers have come forward with damning information regarding the bad rap tobacco got. Nicotine actually has massive healing properties, not cancer causing properties. I am curious if anyone's addicted to egg plant, the second most nicotine rich plant after tobacco, or any of the other nightshades. There's a reason they demonized tobacco. It causes too many problems when they decide to try poisoning populations with "viruses"...
@@zen_of_I since I made this video I've used tobacco in my rituals and meditation, combined with other substances like frankincense and cannabis, even ketamine. It has some amazing powers
@carpo719 I've used tobacco in various forms for probably close to 40 years. Once I started using genuine unadulterated tobacco, I noticed no insane cravings, no adverse health effects. I agree cigarettes are pretty bleh. I smoked them for 20 years. Smelled like an ashtray. Now I smell like fragrant tobacco 😆. I use it for similar reasons as you as well. Not to mention it's a great offering to mother nature when you're out gatherings her gifts.
@@zen_of_I absolutely, I didn't realize how many people would want these seeds. But it's great ceremonial tobacco. I've been growing it for about a decade or more and I was just burning some the other day, I put some in a hookah and it gave me a head change beyond what I expected. Very powerful medicine
In boot camp, a can of dip was worth a standard 50 bucks, and I’m sure a lot more in some cases. I imagine jail, even more so. Anyone addicted to nicotine, knows all too well, that it’s when stress gets involved, the habit peaks in intensity. I’d bet tobacco has saved many lives in war scenarios. Personally I believe it’s one of the greatest plants there is
This is my first year attempting to grow tobacco. I remember my step dad grew it and dried it on the farm we lived on for a few years but i dont remember how he did it. So im trying my hand in it. Im just doing a typical Virginia cigarette type. I assume i wont get any actual tobacco from it this year because im learning as i go and im worried about the drying method honestly. I just wanted to try it and enjoy the challenge of growing it. I hope i get actual tobacco that can be used but i wont be upset if not. This is mainly a learning year for me. So i appreciate your videos so very much. Thank you. ✌🏻 ❤
I grew Havana cigar tobacco this year very high quality more than happy with the results and makes the most tastiest blunt wrapper ever all my friends like it
For whatever reason RUclips just decided to recommend this to me and I’m glad they did, I may put some of this knowledge to good use once a day comes where I have the land to do it. it's impressive to have all that HQ tobacco around you and not smoke it. good idea to have it as something to exchange for other resources during the collapse. all the best!
I had a wonderful crop a few years ago, but when I found out how hard it was to dry/cure I just composted it. Maybe I'll try again after watching this. They are beautiful plants.
I love tobacco products!! Or at least i think I do, i don't know if I'm actually passionate about tobacco and really enjoy it or just so addicted that i think I love it?
You sir will always have my respect. Bravo! Fellow x smoker and victory seed customer. I've got some nico langsdwarf and a few others as protection crops for the rest of my container apartment garden. Might I recommend nicotiana lime green variety? They have the trumpet green holey matrimony of fragrance flowers. Something like Cinnamon, cloves to eucalyptus . It's my favorite variety
@carpo719 I need help where to buy to get del8ve4y to Australia. What to buy for rolling? Also something with sweet smell8ng flowers, I live for scented flowers
My leaves always stay green and turn to dust when touched. Am I drying them too fast? This happenes even when I leave them on the stem and cure them on a 2ft branch.
I've been growing the Aztec tobacco for the last 5 years and I love seeing it grow. It's a beautiful and wonderful medicine. I got stung by a bee today and put a tobacco leaf on the sting and it was instantly better. ❤
For some reason I really enjoyed this video! You talk well and clearly are very passionate! I don't really even care about growing tobacco, especially rustica of all things, nor can I identify with "in case disasters happen I'll have something to bargain with" but it was a pleasure to just watch and learn from your video, so thanks for that, I now know more than before and enjoyed it too!
I have a lot of videos on growing that too but I had to make them private because of RUclips regulations they started deleting on my videos about substances
Perique was made by placing the leaves in a hollowed out stump with a log on top and added weight. It was a wilderness caching technique but the process also preserved and cured it. The story is they picked up the process from indigenous people of what is now St.James Parrish Louisiana. If memory serves they use barrels now.
this was a fantastic video im for sure going to be referencing in the future. always wanted to grow my own baccy and this summer is time baby! thanks broski
Stacking. Interesting. I'm gonna try that. I have a greenhouse full of Havanna tobacco. My plan is to hand roll Havanna cigars. I've been watching so many videos and I really believe I can do it. I'm just waiting for the flowers and seed pods now. I also have Lobelia Inflata plants. Now that's tobacco with no nicotine. That's helpful when quitting smoking.
Smoking is a very nice and very ancient habit, and is the fastest method of imbibing any medicament, I also have grown rustica, and tabacum an sylvestris, rustica is excellent for making baltic smoke cured, though sylvestris has got the finest quality's of leaf w a sweetness better than most other varietys, Cuban is a good alrounder with traits of rustica an wild like sylvestris cigar leaves, the recipe I had best success with was a 4000 Yr old Chinese one named "Ang houn" perfect for the pigtail, block press, pipe rolling and snuffs etc etc, the flowers are soo aromatic for those balmy summer evenings, love your knowledge and dedication... 💥💖🏁
@@TheBeefSlayer surprisingly inhalation is actually the fastest way to get a substance to the brain. Even faster than injection, which is counter intuitive, but its true.
The amount of info you packed into about 10 minutes is awesome. No clue why it took me to find this video until i thought i should definitely try to grow some tobacco. I grow a lot of plants anyway and im sure smoking home grown tobacco is much better in a lot of ways than cigarette or packaged regulated tobacco
You ever thought about soaking them and Kiefer water for a little bit to Ferment or even do something similar to like Fermented cabbage and then dry them out. Or put them in a dehydrator afterwards.
You seem like a friendly down to earth guy. Thanks for the info in this video. I tried growing tobacco once and the growing was quite easy but i messed up the drying and curing somewhat. It ended up as yellow dry as hey stuff. I dried it inside in a cool dark room via hanging. It was some kind of virginia strain i think. Next time i'll try some of your tips.
I don’t even smoke or plan to but this is very interesting. My grandma grew her own. Never asked her anything about it her knowledge never got passed down. thank you for sharing what you know.
Just wanted to drop a thanks for sharing your view of growing and drying tobacco! As a plant lover it is always interesting and fun to listen to another plant lovers views and experience regarding cultivation of plants. I am just about to start harvesting the first round of bottom leaves of my first ever tobacco grow. I intend to try different ways of curing, fermenting and drying to make my own "snus" (wich is a type of finely ground and moist tobacco with a couple additives that you put under your lip) and from what i have read there should be atleast 3 different and "synergetic" strains in such a mix. So I currently have nice rows of Havanna Deep Red, Kentucky One Sucker, Miss Mary (Sunlight Cured), Virginia Gold and three varieties that have been evolved from South America to fit a Swedish climate better and those are called Alida, Tofta and Bondtobak (Farmers tobacco). The last mentioned Bondtobak looks very similar to Rustica and it is also the most nicotine potent variety i have so I am guessing it is an evolved version of Rustica. Anyways, not gonna ramble on for too long but again, thanks for sharing! /Carl from Sweden
@@carpo719 Not too sure about that, its my first time growing but i do enjoy to read and research a lot! 😄 Hit me up if you want some tips if/when you make snus. 👍
@@carpo719 I dont smoke tobacco myself anymore. I grow it for olfactory reasons (sniffing the leafs) and to gift it to people who appreciate it. My virginia tobacco was really loved by people who usually just smoke standard cigarettes, which taste like paper in my opinion. 5:25 this is how I feel about cannabis. In a end of the world situation, weed is worth its weight in ANYTHING. Alcohol, tobacco, cannabis. If you have any or all of these, you can get ANYTHING your heart desires. Anything.
Thanks for the vid! Started growing tobacco this year. They are finally starting to grow after a few months of being same size. My mom grew tobacco with her father and sold them as cigars. I want to keep that tradition going.
Man I love the content 😌! I'm a indoor grower my self!! But on cannabis!! So now I will try something new!! TOBACCO!! Grow it my self at home 🏡! 🏡 grow strong 💪🙌
cheers from the uk, gonna be planting some cuban havana and yellow pryor tobbacco tomorrow for the first time ever. this vid was really helpful thank you
Kindred spirit...I always tell new pot growers that curing is half of the process. I have MYO harvest one time so far, it went well, super easy to grow! I did the stacking method and cured it compressed in a wooden cigar box. I had no shredder so I did a scissor cut and mixed with store bought Bali Shag for decent RYO cigs.
this is super old and the way the world is now, i'm not even sure this person is still alive (yet i havnt checked) but i'll leave a story, my grandma lived in Kentucky and i dunno why but she grew a lot of tobacco, she didnt smoke though, so i never knew why she grew it, i guess she just liked how it looked, anyways every year when we went to visit, it was during the same time all these awesome bright green caterpillars would show up on tobacco plants, i used to collect hundreds of them in a big basket just because i thought they looked cool lol it wasnt till later when i was an adult i realized i was out there working for free -.-
This video is old relative to RUclips but never old relative to tobacco✌ 😄 yep still alive Those tobacco budworms like to eat my cannabis plants as well
Man, i say this with a TON of love from little ol winnipeg... But of COURSE youre from Portland dude 😝😎 started gardening last year. Youve totally convinced me to try and grow my own...
If you shine the blacklight on commercial store bought cigs you can see the poison it doesn't show under a black light on home grown so I'd suggest home grown over vaping even if your trying to stop.

Thanks for the story. ❤

@@dordly everybody's unique in that way and I'm glad you found your path!

The story is they picked up the process from indigenous people of what is now St.James Parrish Louisiana. If memory serves they use barrels now.
this was a fantastic video im for sure going to be referencing in the future. always wanted to grow my own baccy and this summer is time baby! thanks broski
I'm on your side 😎👍🏾
Great video. Thanks for making and sharing it.
I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and passion. Thanks!
I have no idea how i got to this video but you make very good content , your delivery and information are awesome.

Injecting is the fastest.
@@TheBeefSlayer surprisingly inhalation is actually the fastest way to get a substance to the brain. Even faster than injection, which is counter intuitive, but its true.
Do you happen to know what seeds I should get in order to grow a tobacco similar to American Spirit tobacco? Thanks!
Your actually who inspired me to get started growing it.
May this year bless you with many comicly oversized cigars.
Excellent I hope you do well my friend
You ever thought about soaking them and Kiefer water for a little bit to Ferment or even do something similar to like Fermented cabbage and then dry them out. Or put them in a dehydrator afterwards.
Thank you for making this informative video. Also thanks for mentioning the seed company you used
You seem like a friendly down to earth guy.
If you ferment it, do you eat it? Can you eat it?
@@WallaceRoseVincent I'm not sure I've never really considered eating it
your thinking of tomacco
/Carl from Sweden
thanks for the post Carl, sounds like you have a lot more expertise than I! I want to try making snus one day too
@@carpo719 Not too sure about that, its my first time growing but i do enjoy to read and research a lot! 😄
Hit me up if you want some tips if/when you make snus. 👍
@@Cashmoneyificationhow did it go
Hey man, I’m in Sweden now and struggling to figure out where to order seeds from. Do you have any experience growing the rustica here?
💯on the barter option. Great video. Just found you as I am in Michigan and want to try to grow my own. Thanks!
Cool! I harvested the baseleaves today from my Virginia tobacco plant :)
Nice! I only have one of those this year
@@carpo719 I dont smoke tobacco myself anymore. I grow it for olfactory reasons (sniffing the leafs) and to gift it to people who appreciate it. My virginia tobacco was really loved by people who usually just smoke standard cigarettes, which taste like paper in my opinion. One question: How long do you think could the dried tobacco leafes be stored? I may want to grow a little bit more next year to have a stash
@@Spacedawg879 Indefinitely. It ages like a whiksy/fine wine, when kept in the appropriate environment.
Boveda packs are your friend.
I've been thinking about growing tabacco and I've had so many questions and you've answered all of them! Thank you for your knowledge

I want to keep that tradition going.
i had 8 foot high about 3 feet long 2 feet wide plants, best advice i found yet, thank you
Man I love the content 😌! I'm a indoor grower my self!! But on cannabis!! So now I will try something new!! TOBACCO!! Grow it my self at home 🏡! 🏡 grow strong 💪🙌
Perfect so that you can roll the cannabis in the tobacco 😂
cheers from the uk, gonna be planting some cuban havana and yellow pryor tobbacco tomorrow for the first time ever. this vid was really helpful thank you
Kindred spirit...I always tell new pot growers that curing is half of the process. I have MYO harvest one time so far, it went well, super easy to grow! I did the stacking method and cured it compressed in a wooden cigar box. I had no shredder so I did a scissor cut and mixed with store bought Bali Shag for decent RYO cigs.
It takes longer to cure “properly” then it does to grow.
What is shag?
@@Newbegginings super fine cut
Never thought about growing tobacco. I might give it a try.
this is super old and the way the world is now, i'm not even sure this person is still alive (yet i havnt checked) but i'll leave a story, my grandma lived in Kentucky and i dunno why but she grew a lot of tobacco, she didnt smoke though, so i never knew why she grew it, i guess she just liked how it looked, anyways every year when we went to visit, it was during the same time all these awesome bright green caterpillars would show up on tobacco plants, i used to collect hundreds of them in a big basket just because i thought they looked cool lol it wasnt till later when i was an adult i realized i was out there working for free -.-
This video is old relative to RUclips but never old relative to tobacco✌
😄 yep still alive
Those tobacco budworms like to eat my cannabis plants as well
Man, i say this with a TON of love from little ol winnipeg... But of COURSE youre from Portland dude 😝😎 started gardening last year. Youve totally convinced me to try and grow my own...
My dad died at 51 from it. My mom grew tobacco for the flowers because they were pretty and smelled nice.
That's a different type of plant ( nicotiana )
If you shine the blacklight on commercial store bought cigs you can see the poison it doesn't show under a black light on home grown so I'd suggest home grown over vaping even if your trying to stop.
