The vehicle featured in this video is a 2012 Ford Fusion (S) 4 cylinder. The video covers Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan vehicles from 2006 through 2014.
The lug nuts for 2010 and earlier models should be torqued to 98 Foot Pounds. The lug nuts for the 2011 and later models should be torqued to 100 Foot Pounds.
The defective lug nuts were used on: F150, F350, Escape, Flex, Focus and Fusion.
Other tools I needed:
Torque Wrench:
TEKTON 24340 1/2-Inch Drive Click Torque Wrench (25-250 ft.-lb./33.9-338.9 Nm)

Great video explaining this problem. 👍 My fiance got a flat tire on her 2012 fiesta and we were not able to change the tire with the tools provided with the spare because the included lug wrench didn't fit.
Just got 2012 fusion gonna change out lugs. Ordered a set thx . Used the exact link. Appreciate it
Thanks for making this video! I bought a set of DP-Accessories lug nuts and they are way better than the factory ones!
Thanks so much for this video,I use your link to buy my lug nuts. I replaced the factory ones and put the new ones and it feels better
Thanks for the tips and just put my order in for a complete set!
my Eisen ones came today, I'll be doing this tomorrow thanks.
Thanks for the amazon recommendation and the useful information regarding the legal situation. They need to stop making these lug nuts already...
Walmart and Canadian Tire sells high-quality SOLID lug nuts; at low prices. Go and get a pair there.
There are 18.5 / 19.5 mm sockets available on Amazon to remove those swollen lug nuts.
Thanks for the video. Doesn’t help me though because I’m stuck on the side of the road haha
It also affected the 2011 Ford Fiesta
Use a 1" hole saw to eat away the base of the sheet metal caps where the flare is, then an 18mm socket will take off the lug nuts underneath.
wtf u never said wat size the old lugs wer
How are the lug nuts holding up. I read a couple of reviews stating they rust easy and a couple saying these are capped too.
They are capped, but only at the end. If you spray them with Boeshield after you have used them, they'll be fine.
Working as road side service , I feel for people with these. The actual car is a good car. The lugs. Horrible. I can get them off sure. With a lot of work. But how will I put ur spare back on ??? Usually the only answer is a tow as borrowing a lug from
The other three tires proves just the same.
If you use a impact gun will you ever run into this??
Raul Martinez Probably... because you can’t get the socket on the nut.
Your lug nuts were not swollen. They cap shifted because someone used the wrong size socket. I found this out because Discount Tire messed up 12 lugs on the right side of my 2016 F150.
I believe you are correct. I went to a garage to get a better deal on tires. 6,000 miles later I get a tire rotation and my regular mechanic can't get the lig nuts off. He says they were swollen... I say the tire guy ruined them.
@@gordonrichard7822 Yes they did. ruclips.net/video/5IfCrHQna_I/видео.html
That makes total sense. I just was not buying the “swollen lug nut” explanation. Either way...shitty deal from Ford.
Mine swelled from rust.
@@luvr381 No they did not
Ford is so dirty for not caring about this. Thankfully I was right by house when I got a flat. I feel bad for the ones who have been and will be on the side of the road wondering why no size will take their nuts off
Great video but the link to the lugs nuts on Amazon that you have in your description are just the same garbage one that swell on the vehicle. The same ones you removing because of this issue...
Do you know or have a link to better ones? I was going to pull the trigger on the ones in the video but if they are the same thing ill pass
No, they're not.
