I bought a 36" breaker bar and a set of Chromoly 500nm max tourque wheel sockets. I always undo the wheel nuts after a mechanic or tyre fitter has been near them. I apply some copper grease and tighten them to spec and check them on a regular basis.

Most of the tire shops have idiots using impact wrenches improperly and then later when you have a flat your stuck with the problem.

100% true that’s why I remove the tire in the next parking lot of a tire shop and roll the tires to the shop have them do their thing with the wheels and tires and roll them back to where I parked and install them by hand myself.

Ya these breaker bars are powerful. Last week I tried to do my rear brakes on a smart fortwo - which uses 15mm Hex headed bolts as opposed to lug nuts. I didn't know it could be done but i snapped the damn head off a bolt. Of course I only figured this out after breaking it that it was a bolt. Should have lubed it - went caveman - learned my lesson.

It didn't sound like the oil penetrated when it popped loose. The reason being, a tapered lug nut is like a flared fitting as on a hydraulic system. The tighter the nut, the more it seals. On that acorn nut no oil made it to the threads or into the flare.
