Most of the tire shops have idiots using impact wrenches improperly and then later when you have a flat your stuck with the problem.

100% true that’s why I remove the tire in the next parking lot of a tire shop and roll the tires to the shop have them do their thing with the wheels and tires and roll them back to where I parked and install them by hand myself.

I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. WalMart is the only place my truck has ever been for tire work. Went in for a rotation and they rounded off 4 on the first tire they tried. Told me "someone" got them too tight. I told them, Yea...you ! They said they don't put them on too tight and they can't do anything for me. I worked my way up the ladder of folks with WalMart until finally someone from corporate called me and basically said, Tough poop. So......now I have to take it to a truck shop and get the darn things removed and tires rotated. I hope there's another option out there to buy different lugs, because I don't want the same things put back on. Great video. I'm just not set up with the right tools and physically can't do it. Still a great video, thank you.

If you round off your lug nuts (or break your special lock socket) just grab a socket (not a deep one) that will almost fit but is too small for the nut, tap it on just enough till it will stay on the nut, then grab a sledge and swing away,(don't miss) then remove it, worked perfectly every time for me so far

Some good tips ..but if it wont shift after reasonable effort with a breaker bar I suggest not pushing it too far ..the real risk is breaking the lug nuts …which is a real headache ..I usually loosen mine with a breaker bar after a trip to the tire shop and re torque to spec ..to enable roadside removal if necessary . I’ve had the occasional one that wont come loose..I usually go to a tire shop and ask them to loosen then i re torque..
Garages and tire shops seem to tighten up excessively with air tools leaving the driver with a problem if they need to get them off in an emergency.

I didn't know it could be done but i snapped the damn head off a bolt. Of course I only figured this out after breaking it that it was a bolt. It didn't sound like the oil penetrated when it popped loose. The reason being, a tapered lug nut is like a flared fitting as on a hydraulic system. The tighter the nut, the more it seals. On that acorn nut no oil made it to the threads or into the flare.

I have a 1936 Ford. I'm trying to get the stuck lug nuts off. The wire speed wheel has a cylinder protruding, leaving the surface of the lug nuts about 4" inside. I've tried a pneumatic I-R impact wrench rated at 1250 ft-lb, heat, speaking in penetrative oil and with a combo of acetone/ATF. I've tried a star lug wrench with a 24" length to really lean into it. They aren't budging. It's there anything else I can try?
